HR Generalist - Interim Opportunity - Must have SC Clearance or had this previously.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced HR Generalist to join a small, high-impact HR team within a government-affiliated organisation. This interim role offers the chance to contribute to a wide range of HR activities, from operational delivery to strategic initiatives, in a fast-paced and purpose-driven environment.
About the Role
As HR Generalist, you'll support the organisation's mission by ensuring operational capacity is maintained and HR services are delivered consistently and effectively. You'll work across the full employee lifecycle, support recruitment surges, contribute to intranet development, and help drive employee engagement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day HR support to managers and employees in line with policy, legislation, and Civil Service standards
- Lead the development of HR content for a new intranet, structured around the employee lifecycle
- Support bespoke recruitment campaigns, ensuring compliance with Civil Service Recruitment Principles
- Coordinate the Civil Service People Survey and drive participation rates
- Maintain HR systems and personnel records in line with data protection requirements
- Liaise with payroll and finance teams to ensure accurate submissions and reporting
- Produce HR reports and management information, including turnover and recruitment statistics
- Book and monitor training activity, liaising with providers and supporting quarterly reporting
- Collaborate across departments to ensure consistent service delivery
Skills & Experience - Essential
- Minimum 4 years' HR experience, ideally in the public sector
- Strong generalist background with exposure to business partnering, recruitment, and case management
- Comfortable presenting HR information to employees and contributing to digital platforms
- Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Familiarity with HR systems (e.g. Oracle) and data analysis
Desirable
- Experience in a regulated environment or with a specialised workforce
- Knowledge of payroll audit, compliance, and records management
- Experience compiling and analysing engagement survey data
- CIPD qualified or working towards
Working Pattern
- 5 days/week (Mon-Fri), 36 hours/week
- Hybrid model: minimum 3 days on-site, 2 days remote
- Subject to organisational policy and may be adjusted
