About the role
As digital content officer, you’ll design, edit and optimise our web content to help our users feel empowered throughout their breast cancer experience.
From personal stories and blogs to landing pages and webforms, you’ll support teams across the charity and lead the content creation for some of our key projects and campaigns.
You’ll know content design, search engine optimisation (SEO), user experience (UX) and accessibility best practices like the back of your hand and be able to advise teams on the correct approach for their pages. And with support from our digital analytics manager, you’ll be able to advise teams on how to improve their content to drive conversions.
Not only will you be able to take the lead, but you’ll also be a team player. You’ll be able to take direction from the digital content manager on bigger projects and collaborate with other members of your team.
You’ll join the team at an exciting time as we’re amid our digital transformation project. You’ll play a key role in moving our content from the old to the new website. You’ll also help set the standard of content on the new website by training teams on new processes on the new CMS and coaching them on web best practices.
This role is a 12 month fixed-term contract.
About you
A successful candidate will have a strong background in digital and experience in creating web content that packs a punch. You’ll have a can-do attitude, a methodical approach to your work and enjoy creating content.
You’ll have a comprehensive understanding of content design, accessibility, SEO and UX principles. And know how to take this knowledge and use it to create engaging content that supports our user's and charity’s needs.

Primary location of role and hybrid working
This role can be based in our Cardiff, Glasgow, London or Sheffield office. However, our hybrid working model allows full-time staff members to work up to 3 days per week at home.

No one should feel alone when diagnosed with primary bone cancer. The Bone Cancer Research Trust strives to provide a supportive network for all primary bone cancer patients to limit their feelings of isolation and anxiety. Given the rarity of the disease, patients can often go through their entire treatment and recovery without meeting another patient, so external support is vital.
Over the last 4 years, our Support & Information Service has seen significant growth, and developed to become a leading source of support for patients, family members, siblings and friends of patients. Our Support & Information team provide enduring support and ensure that this can be accessed at any point in a primary bone cancer journey and by anyone affected.
Our aim is to increase the reach of the service further, ensuring that all patients diagnosed in the UK have the opportunity to access our Support & Information Service. The Support & Information Officer will play a pivatol role in achieving this through building lasting relationships with both patients and families and healthcare professionals.
They will assist in all aspects of the Bone Cancer Research Trust's Support & Information Service, including the organisation and delivery of virtual support groups, the administration of the Charity's financial grants, the distribution of information resources and the administration of our digital groups. They will also have the opportunity to lead on the delivery of our regional in-person ‘Get-Togethers’, which bring the primary bone cancer community together to gain peer to peer support.The successful candidate will also play an important role in the continuous development of the Service, ensuring that impact is measured and feedback is acted upon.

About the role:
We are looking for a Digital Marketing Officer to support our Marketing Lead in the delivery of all elements of marketing communications to meet the needs and objectives of internal clients in the Hospice. You’ll have experience in creating and updating engaging and effective website content using WordPress (or similar), managing website projects, and reporting on website performance using Google Analytics.
You will take responsibility for the delivery of engaging integrated marketing campaigns across the Hospice’s divisions, and generate awareness and income through innovative, focused and cost effective online and offline marketing campaigns. You will use your experience of marketing campaign management to be responsive to the ever-changing marketing landscape and implementation of new marketing techniques (both digital and traditional) across all channels.
Overall, you will have excellent planning, organisational and project management skills, with exceptional attention to detail and appreciation of copy and production quality issues.

PCA is a national charity, dedicated to saving lives through early diagnosis. This new post has a pivotal role to play in developing and implementing PR and communications strategies that will raise awareness and support the generation of income across the UK.
You need to be able to generate emotive and persuasive copy, and have the ability to engage journalists and produce a variety of content for both print and digital communications channels. You will also manage the UK Press Office and proactively place a variety of stories and expert speakers to raise the profile of PCA across local, regional and national media.

Main responsibilities
Press and PR:
- Manage the UK Press Office and deliver a timely, accurate and professional response to media enquiries.
- Generate creative and headline-grabbing content for news stories and features.
- Pitching of stories, feature ideas and expert speakers to increase our media presence.
- Production of press releases, feature articles and other resources.
- Produce and distribute effective support materials, such as Q&As, media briefings, comments and lines to take when needed.
- Be aware of the national news agenda identifying opportunities and bringing issues to the attention of the Head of Marketing and Communications as appropriate.
- Maintain awareness and knowledge of initiatives across PCA and other organisations that can add value to delivering the Charity’s objectives.
- Lead the production of a monthly media monitoring report evaluating the volume, tone and value of PCA’s media coverage. We use Cision for our media monitoring and distribution..
PR:
- Identify opportunities to promote PCA and its activities to external audiences, including press, influencers, third parties, supporters, and other organisations.
- Support the production of PCA publications and digital communications, including social media content.
- Undertake appropriate crisis communications/reputation management as required.
Communications:
- Develop and implement communications strategies and plans to support and maximise impact across all PCA activities.
- Work with the Fundraising Team to maximise income from an annual calendar of events, campaigns and activities.
- Support National and International awareness-raising campaigns such as Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month and World Pancreatic Cancer Day and the local implementation of activities.
Case Studies and Patient Stories:
- Source story leads and work with the wider PCA team to identify and maximise opportunities to capture more.
- Interview patients, family members and staff to sensitively capture engaging stories for us to use across a variety of channels.
Content Creation:
- Develop creative and engaging content for a wide variety of audiences to ensure each piece achieves objectives.
- Produce creative and engaging copy for a wide variety of both online and offline channels including emails, magazines, websites, blogs, social media and adverts.
- Attend events to capture quotes, photos and videos that could be used to create future PR and communications assets.
- Support the production of PCA’s annual Action magazine.
- Ensure all content aligns with PCA text style and brand guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
· Payment process
o Ensure appropriate approvals are in place prior to each payment in accordance with internal governance procedures.
o Arrange weekly bulk and ad-hoc payments for all approved outstanding invoices, grants and commitments for the Foundation and its subsidiaries, from the appropriate bank account.
o Ensuring all remittance advices are correctly send out to recipients.
o Ensure all supplier’s bank detail changes are checked and verified.
o Input all payments to the finance system accurately and in a timely manner.
· Investment ledgers input and maintenance
o Input accurate investment pricing monthly to the investments schedules; and maintain the user profiles for investment managers’ investor portals.
o Collect and file all investments statements to the appropriate files.
o Assist with monthly property journals input.
· Accrual & Prepayment calculations and maintenance
o Calculate and input accruals and prepayments on a monthly basis.
o Maintain detailed records and documentation to support all accrual and prepayment entries, ensuring the accuracy and quality of the work and its compliance with internal accounting policies.
· Balance sheet maintenance and control
o Check and approve bank reconciliations for all group bank accounts monthly in accordance with the procedures and schedules in force.
o Ensure that any unposted cash items are posted in the finance system and investigate all other uncleared items.
o Identify fixed asset purchases and disposals and compute depreciation charges, posting all entries before month end close.
o Proactively review all balance sheet accounts on a regular basis and at every month end for aged items and mispostings, performing reconciliations for all control accounts, inter-company accounts and other accounts in accordance with the procedures and schedules in force.
o Understand, maintain and run some routine month end journals with high accuracy.
· Management accounts assistance
o Assist the Senior Accountant in producing the monthly overhead running reports, including account data running, variance investigations and final accounts distribution.
o Assist the Management Accountant for month end reconciliation and other tasks as required.
· General administration and support
o File all work, which may be in either electronic or paper format, in the appropriate file(s) as soon as it is completed. Assist the team to organise documents and file constructively.
