Job description

At Hestia, we are guided by our core values and are dedicated to fostering an equitable, diverse, and inclusive organisation. Our mission is to empower individuals to rebuild their lives and achieve independence. Right now, we are looking for a Recovery Worker to play a pivotal role in our Mental Health Service in Waltham Forest.

Sounds great, what will I be doing?

As a Recovery Worker, you will manage a caseload of individuals requiring mental health crisis de-escalation, early intervention, and preventative support, delivering person-centred interventions that promote recovery, resilience, and wellbeing. You will undertake routine risk assessments, implement support plans, maintain accurate records, and ensure timely referrals, reviews, and care coordination. Working collaboratively with community professionals, crisis services, and partner organisations, you will help service users access appropriate support and achieve their personal goals. You will facilitate group activities and structured programmes, monitor wellbeing and safety, contribute to reflective practice and supervision, and work flexibly as part of a team to ensure effective, responsive, and high-quality service delivery.

What do I need to bring with me?

You'll need to be able to demonstrate the core skills this role requires as well as match our values and mission. You don't have to tick all the boxes right away; the important thing is that you're willing to learn. We also value lived experience of the areas we support, so if you feel comfortable, please do mention this on your application.

In this role, you will need experience supporting individuals with mental health difficulties, dual diagnosis, and complex needs, alongside the ability to manage caseloads, contribute to risk assessment processes, and support effective safety planning. You will have a strong understanding of mental health conditions, trauma-informed practice, recovery-focused approaches, and relevant legislation, including the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act. Experience working in fast-paced or crisis-focused environments is essential, as is the ability to coordinate support with multiple agencies and professionals. Strong communication, partnership-building, organisational, and IT skills are required, together with knowledge of safeguarding procedures, case management practices, and the flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and within dynamic crisis services.
