Job Purpose

Oceana is seeking an experienced Development Lead to curate, grow and diversify our rapidly expanding fundraising and partnerships portfolio. Working closely with our UK team and US-based international development team, you will be responsible for the collaborative stewardship of relationships with some of the world’s biggest environmental foundations and philanthropists.

You will help identify and drive new relationships, managing successful grant applications with trusts and foundations in the UK, and cultivating new fundraising streams. You will have a strategic mindset along with a meticulous attention to detail. Fostering exemplary relationships with diverse partners is central to the role and critical to our success. You should be experienced in handling competing priorities, delivering exceptional funding applications and reports, and providing updates with precision and confidence. You will also have a passion for growing and diversifying income streams and converting new interest into long-term, sustainable, support.

Reporting to the Director of Finance and People, you will work closely with our teams, and the global development department, to secure the sustainable resources Oceana UK needs to deliver further impact at this crucial time for our ocean. The role will also help Oceana maximise opportunities to deliver policy victories for UK seas for many years to come and strengthen our work globally.

You will be a self-starter, with a broad range of previous experience, and the ability to develop and manage your priorities in this new role. You will be comfortable working independently and as part of a small team. The position will be hybrid, with 2 days per week from home and 3 days per week based in Oceana’s office in Paddington, London or in Newquay, Cornwall. Occasional travel will be required to meet team members and stakeholders in geographically diverse locations.

Responsibilities:

• Manage the development of a UK specific fundraising strategy.
• Manage relationships and reporting to existing funders alongside the international development team and Executive Director. This will primarily be with trusts and foundations, and individual philanthropists.
• Identify and develop new opportunities with trusts and foundations.
• Manage successful grant applications and budgets, co-ordinating and collaborating with the international development team.
• Work closely with the finance and campaigns team to ensure all relevant stakeholders are consulted in grant applications and reporting.
• Manage and deliver timely reporting, communications and updates to funding partners and stakeholders.
• Oversee and develop other existing UK income streams, including mass giving.
• Identify, develop and manage additional UK income opportunities, including with smaller trusts and foundations.
• Collaborate with the Director of Finance and People, and international development and budgeting teams to manage the income forecast and grant financial reporting.
• Maintain appropriate development records and database for all UK activity.
• Develop and manage key fundraising and partnerships events.
• Work with Executive Director to develop our outreach with funders at international events.
• Attend and represent the UK in monthly development meetings with the international team.
• Design and manage the UK’s development budget.

Candidate Requirements:

Education and work experience:

• Extensive professional experience in fundraising and development, ideally in the ocean or the environmental space.
• Good professional relationships with environmental trusts and foundations
• Demonstrable experience in managing successful multi-year grant applications and budgets with trusts and foundations.
• Strong experience of managing charitable foundation relationships and delivering detailed and timely reports, and communications to add value where required.
• Experience or working with campaigns teams to develop funding applications.
• Experience of managing philanthropist and major individual donors.
• Experience in prospecting, managing and analysing research on fundraising opportunities.
• Experience in co-developing and diversifying fundraising strategies (mass giving, digital, appeals, etc)
• Clear experience of in co-developing and diversifying fundraising strategies, and writing strategic plans, and contributing to planning and budgeting processes.

Skills & Knowledge:

• Demonstrable experience of networking and relationship development with funders.

You will have a track record as a successful senior leader in a charitable organisation of a comparable size or equivalent managerial or director experience.

You will be confident in public speaking and have excellent communication skills, being able to convey a message with impact to engender trust, and be comfortable communicating with senior stakeholders, staff, volunteers and funders.

You will have experience working with external funders, understanding the importance of delivering a project as agreed, as well as  being comfortable with completing the monitoring and reporting aspects.

We are seeking an experienced philanthropy professional to lead and grow our income streams from individual philanthropists, trusts, foundations, and corporates. In this role, you’ll lead the philanthropy programme, inspiring Trust and Charity staff and key stakeholders, and developing relationships with major donors. About Us

The Pepper Pot Centre is a vital, Caribbean & other  BME  community resource for the over 60s in Kensington & Chelsea and neighbouring Boroughs,  seeking to combat discrimination, isolation, depression and loneliness and help our members to take charge of their lives and  live in a healthy and independent manner.

Having formally opened our doors in 1981, we are a meeting place for older and retired members of the community and a day centre that provides a balanced Caribbean meal, recreational and cultural activities and lots more. In 1976 & 2006 was visited by the late Queen and by the Duchess of Cornwall in2020.

We are now seeking a part-time Events Coordinator to join our team for a one-year, fixed term contract, working 21 hours per week.

About the role

We are looking for a highly organised and creative  Events Coordinator to join our  growing team to plan, deliver and evaluate the effectiveness of events  targeted specifically at our 60+ community e.g. trips/visits to parks, museums, Theatre, Seaside and more.

Our new Events Coordinator  will support the planning and delivery of a key part of our work, namely: the management of our events programme designed to combat and prevent isolation, loneliness and depression amongst our elders. They will work closely with our sponsor,  Global Radio – LBC, Capital Xtra, Heart, Smooth, Classic FM, talkSPORT and more.

Specifically, you will:

• Develop an Events programme, trips, visits, excursions designed to combat discrimination, isolation, depression and loneliness.
• Publicise our programme of events, and activities via digital media, leaflet distribution, open days, and word of mouth etc.
• Support and encourage our members to attend the Events programme of activities.
• Recruit train and organise team of volunteers to support and expand the Events programme. 
• Plan, organise administer and accompany members on trips, visits and excursions within and outside the UK and you may be required to work outside normal office hours.
• Produce written reports for the management committee and our sponsor Global Radio.
• Evaluate the success of events through feedback mechanisms, attendance records, and make recommendations

Summary of Key Responsibilities

Purpose of role

To manage the annual programme of the PPA psychoanalytic psychotherapy qualifying training and the Advanced Clinical Course. To promote and grow the trainings. To manage the budget and collect and report on performance management data. To track all trainees’ progress, to ensure the smooth running of all elements of the teaching provision and to liaise and work in collaboration with the PPA training committee (TC), curriculum committee (CC), selection committee (SC) and post graduate committee (PGC).

Accountable to

The post will be line managed by the office manager will be accountable to and work in close collaboration with the committees of the PPA.

Key responsibilities

1) To oversee and manage the delivery of the annual programme of the PPA trainings in collaboration with the TC and PGC.

a) Booking clinical, theory and group seminar leaders in collaboration with TC and PGC.

b) In liaison with the Director of Marketing, Communications and Engagement place adverts for supervisors, teachers, and group leaders as appropriate.

c) Ensure that trainees and TC have an up-to-date list of Training Analysts, Training Supervisors and Approved Therapists

d) Room booking for all aspects of the programme.

e) Annual review, update and production of handbooks and all written materials for course.

f) Collaboration with the library to track reading list production.

g) To be the first point of contact in cases of emergency.

h) To collect, collate and report on trainee feedback.

2) To oversee the annual trainee selection for the trainings.

a) To be the first point of contact for potential applicants, giving out appropriate information about the trainings and passing appropriate inquiries onto the training advisors.

b) To liaise with interviewers and arrange trainee selection interviews.

c) To liaise with the PPA newsletter editor to ensure the production and circulation of the newsletter and to communicate with the Membership Officer about any PPA items for the bpf newsletter.

d) Ensure consistent messaging about PPA trainings across internal and external communications.

e) To have oversight of the cycle of reaccreditation with the BPC.

5) To ensure effective administrative and financial management of PPA trainings.

a) To take lead on ensuring all communication with trainees is up to date including collection of fees, sending out handbooks, curriculums, all training materials, and dates.

b) To work with the Director of Corporate Services to oversee and maintain budgetary control of both trainings.

c) To work with the Director of Corporate Services to provide management reporting data.

d) To collect and report on data collection of protected characteristics.

e) To provide budget updates to the training committee.

f) To recommend and implement improvements to PPA training admin systems and processes.

g) To manage all payments from trainees and to teaching staff.

6) To work with all PPA committees to maintain the functioning and growth of the PPA association.

a) To attend TC meetings, PGC meetings, bpf Heads of Trainings meetings and any other meetings to ensure the smooth running of the committees and clear communication between committee members.

b) Organise and oversee the termly PPA reading group and other social events in collaboration with the Events Officer.

c) Encourage and grow PPA members’ events in collaboration with the Membership and Engagement Officer.

7) General

Experience

We are seeking a Science and Policy Project Manager who will provide project management support across the science and policy departments for the core programmes and for cross cutting activities such as conferences and communications. You will report to the Director of Research, Policy and Innovation with the delivery of the science and policy strategies. You will also work closely with the Assistant Director of Research and Policy and there will also be interaction and communication with the Heads of Research Funding, Research Interpretation and Policy and Public Affairs as well as other colleagues in the network countries. 

You will be educated to MSc level in Public Health, Nutrition, Epidemiology or closely related field and have experience working in a research/public health setting and developing scientific/policy reports, summaries and presentations. You will have proven scientific project management skills with experience in monitoring progress, performance reporting and delivering projects on time and budget. You will have excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment, and with stakeholders at all levels.

Overall Responsibilities of the Chief Executive Officer:

• Develop and implement a long-term strategic plan aligned with the organisations mission, vision and values
• Provide visionary leadership to the team, inspiring and motivating staff, volunteers, and stakeholders towards achieving organisational goals as being a Christian ministry.
• Regularly assess the evolving needs of the community and identify opportunities for program development and expansion.
• Oversee operations, ensuring the effective delivery of services and adherence to organisational policies and procedures.

Ideal Criteria and Experience for the Chief Executive Officer

• By the Equality Act 2010, it is a genuine occupational requirement that the post holder is a practising Christian. This is essential to the credibility of the organisation and performance of this role and ensures that the charity is following its governing document.
• Proven experience in a senior leadership role, preferably within the non-profit sector.
• Ability to speak and lead church meetings to promote the work of the organisation amongst the local churches.
• Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of successfully implementing organisational strategies and driving positive change.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders and inspire a shared vision.
• Demonstrate experience in fundraising, including grant writing, donor cultivation, and relationship management.
• Financial acumen and experience in budgeting, financial reporting, and resource allocation.
• Understanding of governance principles and experience working with boards of directors/trustees.
• Knowledge of UK regulations governing charities and business including knowledge of company administration and charity governance.

St Catherine’s College seeks to appoint a new Development Executive ahead of the development and launch of a major new capital campaign. The Development Executive will be a key member of the St Catherine’s College Development Team, working hand in glove with the Development Director and Deputy Director in particular, to advance our major gifts programme.

This post is full time, for a three year fixed term in the first instance.

The salary is in the range £36,024 - £44,263 per year.

The post holder will be personally responsible for:

• identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major donors and prospects with the capacity and propensity to make significant (£25,000 - £500k+) financial contributions to College;
• identifying the next generation of major donors, building relationships, securing five, six and, in time, seven figure gifts, and driving up philanthropic income in the medium and longer term;
• focusing on individuals, foundations, and, in some cases where relevant, corporations, with the potential to make transformative gifts.

This role has arisen at a pivotal time for St Catherine’s College; as we prepare for a major campaign for an ambitious estates project. Working with the Director and Deputy Director, this new role will be vital in developing, launching and closing out this landmark campaign and ensuring that the College capitalises on the momentum created to launch into its next philanthropic phase.

The successful candidate will have a track record of having asked for, negotiated, and secured major gifts, alongside proven success in developing and maintaining effective donor relationships.
