In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining a strong financial control environment, preparing statutory accounts, and managing the audit processes. You will drive continuous improvement within the financial accounting and control function and play a key role in ensuring their finance services deliver the best outcomes for their residents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute appropriate financial controls and ensure the timely and accurate preparation of quarterly and annual statutory accounts for group entities, supported by detailed schedules.
- Manage the delivery of interim and final audits for assigned group entities, including conducting analytical reviews of financial statements.
- Reconcile intercompany accounts, group investments, and borrowings on a monthly basis, maintaining up-to-date statutory account schedules.
- Prepare and submit all regulatory returns, including FVA and Companies House filings.
- Oversee the preparation of monthly group control accounts reconciliations.
- Contribute to the quarterly financial health reports for group entities, providing Management and the Audit & Risk Committee with a comprehensive overview of associated risks.
- Support continuous performance improvements across the financial accounting and control function.
- Maintain accurate and detailed financial data using Excel and in-house systems.
- Collaborate with finance business partners and heads of services to ensure timely and accurate delivery of monthly control account reconciliations.
Qualifications and Skills:
- CCAB-recognised accounting qualification (ACA qualified is desired).
- Extensive experience in preparing regulatory financial returns and managing filings with FVA and Companies House.
- Proven track record in managing interim and year-end audits, with effective coordination with auditors.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with diverse audiences and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to analyse complex data, develop solutions, and make data-driven decisions.
- Experience influencing operational activities at both tactical and strategic levels.
- Proficiency in Excel; experience with D365 and Power BI is desired.
- A commitment to upholding ethical principles, including integrity, objectivity, professional competence, confidentiality, and professional behaviour.

MLC Partners are seeking an experienced finance professional with significant social housing experience to recruit a Head of Finance based in central London. This is an immediate starting, initial 3month interim opportunity.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide partnering support to the executive and senior management on accounts, KPI’s, value for money metrics, annual budgets and variance analyses

- Working to ensure young people receive a high-quality service from the point of registration to the move-on. Taking a hands-on approach to dealing with complex or difficult cases and ensuring the quality of support plans to create opportunities to promote independence.
- Managing a caseload of internally referred clients with additional needs as they transition out of homelessness, ensuring that the necessary support structures are in place to facilitate successful tenancy sustainment.
- Carrying out thorough needs assessments and putting in place support plans with young people accessing the resettlement programme.
- Providing expert advice and guidance on Accommodation, Welfare Benefits, Housing Benefit and Tenancy rights, Legal Services, and Employment, Education & Training. Monitoring and evaluating young people’s progress.
- Building and maintaining effective partnerships with accommodation providers and external stakeholders, in addition to cultivating and strengthening existing relationships.
- Referring young people to other internal New Horizon Youth Centre teams in order to support their progression, including Health and Jobs, Education and Training.
- Providing advocacy and referring young people to a wide range of specialist external services including around advocacy, substance misuse, mental health, immigration, counselling, financial/debt advice, and legal services.

We're looking for two proactive & passionate individuals to join our Housing Advice team to deliver an effective housing advice and advocacy service to young people accessing our day centre.
You will be working within our Housing team to deliver an effective advice service for young people. You should be experienced in delivering housing advice within a youth and community or other relevant setting, of supporting clients with multiple and complex needs, and have a proven track record of referring and progressing vulnerable people into suitable accommodation. There are two roles available.

In addition, you will support the wider Asset Management Team within administrative and system related tasks and work flexibly where necessary to attend team meetings and liaise with colleagues which may include traveling to YMCA DLG sites.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone to help shape the strategic direction of a housing association that provides a vital service to the communities of Islington, Hackney and Waltham Forest. You don’t need to have worked in Housing before, but it will be an advantage if you have.
As well as being technically very competent, you will have the ability to communicate and work effectively with stakeholders. You will be very organised and professional in your approach.
You will be a proficient Excel user. Experience of using Power BI will be an advantage, but is not essential.

This role will add capacity to our current Admin Team, supporting the organisation with increased demand around finance, admin and resources.
