Job Purpose
The Head of Retail will provide strategic leadership and expert insight to review, strengthen and evolve Alder Hey Children’s Charity’s retail operation during a six-month period of strategic development.
Working closely with the Director of Operations & People, the postholder will undertake a comprehensive review of the charity’s retail portfolio, identifying opportunities to maximise income, improve operational effectiveness and enhance supporter engagement.
The role will assess the current retail model, including shop performance, operational structures, processes and growth opportunities, and develop clear recommendations and a practical roadmap for the future development of retail income at Alder Hey Children’s Charity.

This organisation's vision is for a locally led humanitarian system that is accountable to people affected by and at risk of crises. They aim to achieve this vision by making system-level shifts in how humanitarian assistance is approached and delivered.
This role is offered on an initial 24-month, full time contract, paying a salary of £47,500 - £49,000 (per annum with flexible working arrangements at their Old Street, London office. There will be expected travel to visit the Hubs, around 3-4 weeks per year.
As the Funding Manager (Hubs), you will play a critical role in this organisation's localisation agenda and strategy. This will require you to bring expertise in setting up new income streams, coordinating stakeholders internationally and personally securing new income from donors. As most of the Hubs are in early stages of development and volunteer-led, you will need to provide substantial support including capacity-building, donor-mapping, direct engagement on behalf of the Hubs with donors, strategy development and various other activities.

The Role
This field-based role offers variety, autonomy, and a deep sense of purpose. You will represent our charity partners in dynamic public spaces, building lasting supporter relationships through genuine, compliant interactions.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Venue-based fundraising in premium locations (e.g., train stations, events, festivals)
• Representing our partner charitie's brand with pride and professionalism
• Experiential activities designed to spark authentic conversations (no pressure tactics)
You will be supported by a structured, values-led organization, with clear standards and a team that champions ethical fundraising. Plus, we offer regular team-building and incentive days.
Who We Seek
We are looking for confident, professional fundraisers with a proven track record in face-to-face charity fundraising. You are adept at engaging the public ethically and consistently, while safeguarding the charity’s brand.
Ideally, you will have:
• 2+ years of proven customer facing experience
• Exceptional communication skills—able to engage diverse audiences with ease
• Resilience and optimism—able to handle rejection and maintain momentum
• Flexibility—comfortable working within a ~20-mile radius
• A commitment to values—upholding compliance, quality, and a top-tier supporter experience

About the role
Recognising the huge contribution that volunteers make to the organisation is something we are immensely passionate about and to help us do this, we are looking for a talented Recognition Adviser to join the Volunteering Development and Inclusion team. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape our approach to volunteer recognition both now and for the future. In addition to leading the team in delivering our existing awards and events programme, the post holder will co-ordinate the review of current ways of working whilst exploring new ways of recognising volunteers.
About you
You will be an experienced, motivated volunteering professional who has developed and implemented volunteering recognition initiatives on a similar scale. Your communication and stakeholder engagement skills will be first class with experience of delivering volunteering recognition and most importantly, you will be passionate about making a difference.

Your role
As we look to further develop volunteering and implement our plans for the future, we are seeking a talented Volunteering Growth Development Manager. As part of the Volunteering Development team, this role is critical in developing the volunteer experience for volunteers now, along with planning and implementing new approaches to attracting volunteers for the future.
