As Financial Accountant within our Finance & Assurance directorate, you'll be part of a team that's transforming how we deliver financial partnership across the organisation. In this role, you'll focus on audit. You'll be the cornerstone of trust and credibility that gives stakeholders confidence in our financial integrity. Drawing on your audit background, you'll lead our audit activities end-to-end, prepare comprehensive audit deliverables, including consolidated financial statements and manage relationships with external auditors. You'll ensure our accounting records comply with Charities SORP/FRS102, company law and charity law. You'll prepare and review complex technical accounting adjustments, and champion robust financial controls and processes across the organisation. Your technical expertise and meticulous approach will ensure we navigate regulatory requirements with precision and professionalism.
Working in partnership with colleagues across Finance and the wider Society, you'll champion compliance in a way that enables rather than constrains our mission. You'll build relationships with external auditors and regulators. You'll support teams across directorates to understand and meet their financial obligations and proactively identify opportunities to strengthen our financial governance and control environment.
About you:
You're a qualified accountant with an audit background who brings deep knowledge of audit processes. You understand that robust financial controls build the credibility and trust that allows a charity to maximise its impact. You're comfortable preparing audit deliverables and technical accounting adjustments, and you can explain complex regulations clearly to help colleagues across the organisation make informed decisions.
You'll have:
- A CCAB qualification achieved through education, or demonstrable equivalent knowledge and experience that evidences your understanding of the role's requirements.
- Significant audit experience - ideally from practice or an in-house audit function.
- Demonstrated experience as a Financial Accountant in a large or complex organisation.
- Good working knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations.
- Experience preparing and reviewing complex technical accounting adjustments with precision and professional judgment.
- Experience championing robust financial controls and processes, with evidence of identifying control weaknesses and driving improvements.

In this role, the individual will manage a caseload of clients requiring early intervention or preventative mental health support, delivering group activities and co-produced programmes that empower service users to achieve their goals. The role involves supporting service users in engaging with various community professionals, including mental health teams, social workers, housing providers, health professionals, and Job Centre Plus. They will work flexibly within a team to ensure service coverage and meet contractual obligations, while also developing and encouraging participation in peer support networks and community-based initiatives. Active monitoring of the health, wellbeing, safety, and security of the service and its users is essential, ensuring all concerns are promptly addressed in line with procedures. The role also includes participating in core service functions, supporting colleagues, and using initiative to complete tasks as they arise. Timely and accurate administration is required, with a strong emphasis on maintaining confidentiality. We are looking for an experienced communications professional to support us with creating engaging communications. You will be responsible for activities such as:
- Developing compelling propositions
- Delivering the communications to support major gift prospect fundraising events, from creating invitations and shaping the themes, through to developing event materials and briefing speakers
- Creating and editing a wide range of communications pieces for our major gift prospect audience, from written case studies through to web content and video

Experience of advocacy or work with vulnerable clients is essential. Experience of working with people with learning disabilities and knowledge of learning disability services is an advantage. A full induction and training will be provided as well as ongoing peer mentoring and support. It would be desirable for the successful candidate to hold the national qualification in independent advocacy, however this can be undertaken once in post.

Brighton and Hove Speak Out is a dynamic local advocacy charity. We support people with learning disabilities to have a voice and choice and control over their lives through providing a range of advocacy services and community projects.
We are seeking to appoint a part time Advocacy and Engagement Coordinator to deliver a programme of engagement and consultation activity. The post holder will support people with learning disabilities to have their say about local services, share their experience about how support and services impact on their lives and make recommendaitions for improvements.
The role involves organising outreach and consultation on different issues. The post holder will support a group of self-advocates (the Link Group) to take part in planning, running and reporting to the Learning Disability Partnership Board.
The Post Holder will also support health advocacy, training and awareness raising at Speak Out. They will support the ‘Thumbs Up' campaign led by a group of Speak Out members.
About you
The successful candidate will need excellent communication and organisational skills, including report writing, and will be able to manage a complex workload. Experience of advocacy and/or group work with vulnerable clients is essential. Knowledge of learning disability services and experience of working with people with learning disabilities is an advantage.

The Independent Monitoring Service is seeking to recruit professionals with experience of working with children and vulnerable adults to the role of Independent Visitor.

The role of Independent Visitors is to provide visiting services on behalf of NYAS which are consistent with the National Quality Standards for Children’s Homes, Residential Special School Standards, Welsh National Minimum Standards, Health and Social Care Standards Scotland and CQC regulations. The main duties are:
- To undertake monthly visits to identified homes in accordance with the requirements of the relevant NYAS manager.
These visits will be:
Regulation 44 visits to residential children’s homes, short breaks and secure units.
Regulation 25 visits to residential family centres.
Care Quality Commission visits to residential adult homes.
Care Inspectorate Wales regulation 8 visits to residential children’s homes.
RSS20 visits to residential special schools.
Health and social care standards Scotland residential children’s homes.
Monitoring visits to unregulated provision.
- To undertake all tasks as identified by the relevant NYAS manager, during the visits and thereafter, in order to fulfil all aspects of the role.
- To provide factual reports within set timescales as required by the relevant NYAS manager.
Candidates should have demonstrable knowledge and understanding of regulated services and their inspection frameworks and also knowledge of current legislation and statutory guidance relating to children, young people and adults at risk particularly those in residential care.
Candidates must have experience of working within a social or health care organisation, safeguarding and experience of managing complex relationships across a diverse field, e.g. OFSTED inspectors, social workers, residential care workers and registered managers, health care professionals.
Candidates should also possess a professional qualification in a related field, i.e. social work, residential care, health care professional, advocacy or youth work.
This is a self-employed position and you will be paid a sessional rate.
You will also be required to complete annual safeguarding and compliance including, Personal Safety, Data Protection, Information Security, Safeguarding and Equality and Diversity. You will be able to subscribe to an e-learning platform provided by NYAS. The platform will provide you with the opportunity to undertake a number of other professional courses that you can complete in your own time to maintain your own CPD. You can do this on the e-learning platform at a significantly reduced cost compared to undertaking each course individually with different providers.

The Vacancy
The Independent Monitoring Service is seeking to recruit professionals with experience of working with children and vulnerable adults to the role of Independent Visitor.
We are looking for individuals all across Lancahsire and Merseyside areas, including but not limitted to: Liverpool, St Helen's, Warrington, Preston, Lytham, Blackpool.
The role of Independent Visitors is to provide visiting services on behalf of NYAS which are consistent with the National Quality Standards for Children’s Homes, Residential Special School Standards, Welsh National Minimum Standards, Health and Social Care Standards Scotland and CQC regulations. The main duties are:
- To undertake monthly visits to identified homes in accordance with the requirements of the relevant NYAS manager.
These visits will be:
Regulation 44 visits to residential children’s homes, short breaks and secure units.
Regulation 25 visits to residential family centres.
Care Quality Commission visits to residential adult homes.
Care Inspectorate Wales regulation 8 visits to residential children’s homes.
RSS20 visits to residential special schools.
Health and social care standards Scotland residential children’s homes.
Monitoring visits to unregulated provision.
- To undertake all tasks as identified by the relevant NYAS manager, during the visits and thereafter, in order to fulfil all aspects of the role.
- To provide factual reports within set timescales as required by the relevant NYAS manager.
Candidates should have demonstrable knowledge and understanding of regulated services and their inspection frameworks and also knowledge of current legislation and statutory guidance relating to children, young people and adults at risk particularly those in residential care.
Candidates must have experience of working within a social or health care organisation, safeguarding and experience of managing complex relationships across a diverse field, e.g. OFSTED inspectors, social workers, residential care workers and registered managers, health care professionals.
Candidates should also possess a professional qualification in a related field, i.e. social work, residential care, health care professional, advocacy or youth work.
This is a self-employed position and you will be paid a sessional rate.
You will also be required to complete annual safeguarding and compliance including, Personal Safety, Data Protection, Information Security, Safeguarding and Equality and Diversity. You will be able to subscribe to an e-learning platform provided by NYAS. The platform will provide you with the opportunity to undertake a number of other professional courses that you can complete in your own time to maintain your own CPD. You can do this on the e-learning platform at a significantly reduced cost compared to undertaking each course individually with different providers.

Hillside Clubhouse is a coproduced mental health charity based in Islington that works collaboratively with people with mental health conditions across Islington. We work with people wherever they are in their Recovery journey, supporting those with long-term and enduring conditions such as personality disorder and schizophrenia and people with more common mental health conditions like depression and anxiety.
We aim to maximise our members' (service users) opportunities by enabling them to grow in confidence and develop skills to support them to access employment, education, training and volunteering. Our ethos is one of co-production and partnership; everything we do is led by our members.
We are seeking someone who is passionate about mental health and eager to support the growth of our recovery team. This role involves working directly with members both one-on-one and through group sessions.
As a Recovery Worker, you will divide your time between individual casework and facilitating group activities.
