CLAUK (Coalition of Latin Americans in UK)
About CLAUK
The Coalition of Latin Americans in UK (CLAUK) is a coalition of Latin American organisations from the voluntary sector that have come together to raise awareness and understanding of the issues facing the Latin American community in the UK and to provide a collective voice for, and represent the collective interests of the Latin American community in the UK.
About IRMO
IRMO (Indoamerican Refugee and Migrant Organisation) works to enable the development, agency and participation of all Latin Americans and other Spanish and Portuguese speakers, by responding to both immediate needs and structural inequalities. We do this by offering high-quality information and advice services, opportunities for development and training, and a platform to seek social and systemic change. Our work is organised across three main operational areas (Advice; Education, Training and Employment; Children and Young People) and a cross-cutting area, Advocacy, Research and Campaigns.
With 40 years of experience, we support more than 3,800 people every year.
IRMO currently chairs CLAUK and is the employer of the CLAUK Coordinator.
About the role
The CLAUK Coordinator will coordinate the work of the coalition and lead the delivery of its priorities, as agreed with the CLAUK Steering Group. The post holder is employed and line managed by IRMO and collectively accountable to the Steering Group.
The main focus of the role is CLAUK's campaign for the official recognition of Latin Americans in national statistics. In October 2026, the Government Statistical Service (GSS) confirmed that Latin American is among the groups taken forward to the next stage of its review of the ethnicity harmonised standard. Public acceptability research is due to take place in autumn 2026, and the standard is expected to be published in spring 2027. Inclusion is not guaranteed, and the Coordinator will lead CLAUK's preparation for either outcome.
The other priorities of this role are coordination among members and communications. The post holder’s responsibilities in relation to CLAUK’s other two strategic areas, living with dignity and civic engagement, will be limited to monitoring developments and amplifying the work of members. No campaigning activity is expected.
