Financial Controller
A leading international charity is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join its finance team on a 12-month fixed-term contract.
Reporting to the Director of Finance, this is a broad leadership role responsible for financial control, statutory reporting and the day-to-day management of the financial accounting function. Alongside ensuring robust financial governance, you'll also play a key role in driving finance transformation projects, improving systems, processes and ways of working across the organisation.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong finance professional who enjoys combining hands-on financial control with leading change and developing high-performing teams.
Key responsibilities are as follows:
- Lead the production of statutory accounts and oversee month-end and year-end reporting.
- Act as the key contact for the external audit process, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Maintain a strong financial control environment across balance sheet reconciliations, treasury, tax and fund accounting.
- Lead, develop and support the financial accounting team.
- Drive finance transformation initiatives, including improvements to systems, processes and reporting.
- Partner with senior stakeholders, providing financial insight to support strategic decision-making.
- Strengthen financial processes, controls and governance across the finance function.
You will:
- Be a fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Have significant experience leading financial control and statutory reporting within a complex international organisation.
- Have strong knowledge of UK GAAP and ideally Charity SORP.
- Have experience managing external audits and leading month-end and year-end processes.
- Have a proven track record of leading finance transformation, systems or process improvement projects.
- Be an experienced people manager with the ability to lead and develop finance teams.
- Possess excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
