Social Media Communications Volunteer (merch.eco)
merch.eco
We do detailed ethical research on clothing suppliers, and use that to shift groups that buy merch (customised clothing) to use a more ethical supplier.
The clothing industry currently extremely exploitative, both of people and of nature. 300 million people are employed in the industry, and there is no regulation to give them a living wage, basic health and safety or prevent modern slavery. Toxic dyes, water pollution, microplastics and degenerative farming practises are destroying our health and our ecosystems.
Conscious consumerism has been minimally effective in solving this, and we are here to supercharge it. We do detailed ethical research on clothing suppliers, and use that to shift groups that buy merch (customised clothing) to use a more ethical supplier. We track where the money is moving, and use these financial signals to directly show clothing suppliers that soon, the most ethical companies will be the most profitable. We also can self-fund, by requesting an 'agent fee' of 2% of the additional revenue that we bring to the ethical suppliers. No more grant applications!
