AVSED is a local charity working to prevent social isolation and loneliness for Aireborough seniors by supporting happy, healthy, and independent living. Our members are aged 60+ and come with many different needs. We offer opportunities for members to come together and socialise, meet new people, and find friends.
We have 2 accessible minibuses and a Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV) which we use to help transport members to our regular activities at our base at Greenacre Hall, take on trips and outings, or loan out to third party organisations or individuals.
The aim of this role is to support AVSED members who have differing mobility needs to access our activities and services by driving one of our accessible minibuses or our WAV. Working as a team with your Passenger Assistant you will provide safe, person centred travel, following provided routes, supporting members to access the vehicle from their homes and into the AVSED building in an efficient, safe, and comfortable way.
Key responsibilities for this role:
- Excellent time keeping
- Collecting vehicle keys and performing pre-trip checks on vehicle
- Completing all vehicle documentation and record keeping
- To provide a warm welcome and goodbye to all members
- To be aware of and follow all AVSED Health and Safety and Safeguarding policies and procedures
- To be fit and able to access and handle the AVSED minibus or WAV equipment
- To complete training to AVSED standards
- To have own mobile phone to be an emergency contact when out on routes

Minimum Driver Requirements:
Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle: Min Age 21, Full UK Driving Licence
Minibus: Min Age 30, Full UK Driving Licence or Category D Driving Licence.
