Job description

Ripon Museums Trust (RMT) manages three distinctive heritage sites in Ripon city centre, North Yorkshire: Ripon Workhouse Museum & Garden, Ripon Prison & Police Museum, and Ripon Courthouse Museum. These museums present powerful and often challenging narratives exploring law, order, justice, and welfare, highlighting how these themes have shaped society both historically and in the present day. RMT is entering a transformative phase, following the successful award of £2.5 million from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, supported by additional match funding

  • Thoughtfully challenge and help advance the strategic plan

  • Support the Executive Team in achieving organisational goals

  • Contribute to stakeholder engagement and fundraising initiatives

Beyond fulfilling the statutory responsibilities of a Trustee, RMT is looking for individuals who demonstrate the following qualities and commitments:

  • A genuine dedication to RMT and alignment with its culture and values

  • Willingness to invest the time and energy necessary for effective governance and contribution

  • Strategic thinking and sound judgment

  • Confidence to express views, coupled with openness to listen to others

  • A collaborative spirit and ability to work effectively within a team

  • Understanding of, or willingness to learn about, charity governance and Trustee responsibilities

  • Commitment to the Nolan Principles of Public Life: Selflessness, Integrity, Objectivity, Accountability, Openness, Honesty, and Leadership

RMT values diversity of thought and experience and encourages applications from individuals of all backgrounds.
