About ThriveSpark Southampton

ThriveSpark Southampton is a newly established community-led charity dedicated to empowering, supporting, and celebrating individuals with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Our mission is to empower minds and ignite potential through advocacy, education, and community engagement.

We work to ensure that every neurodiverse individual in Southampton has access to understanding, opportunity, and support.

Role Purpose

The Treasurer will play a key role in overseeing the financial health, sustainability, and accountability of ThriveSpark Southampton. Working alongside the Chair and Board of Trustees, the Treasurer will provide strategic financial guidance and ensure compliance with charity law and good financial practice.

This voluntary role is central to helping the charity grow sustainably and make the best possible use of its resources in pursuit of its mission.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the charity’s financial affairs and ensure they are conducted within legal, constitutional, and regulatory guidelines.

  • Maintain accurate financial records and report regularly to the Board on the organisation’s financial position.

  • Advise the Board on financial planning, budgeting, and risk management.

  • Work with the Chair and Secretary to ensure effective systems for monitoring income, expenditure, and fundraising.

  • Lead on the preparation and presentation of annual accounts and reports for the Charity Commission and other stakeholders.

  • Support funding applications by providing clear financial data and projections.

  • Ensure appropriate financial policies and procedures are in place and followed.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Experience in finance, accounting, bookkeeping, or business management.

  • Understanding of budgets, financial reporting, and basic accounting principles.

  • Good organisational and communication skills.

  • Commitment to the values and mission of ThriveSpark Southampton.

  • Willingness to work collaboratively with other trustees and volunteers.

Desirable:

  • Experience of charity finance or trustee roles.

  • Knowledge of the Charity Commission’s financial regulations and SORP reporting.

  • Lived or professional experience of ADHD or neurodiversity (not essential but valued).
