Job description

Role: Trustee

 

Salary: Unremunerated. This is a voluntary position, without remuneration, but reasonable expenses are reimbursed.

 

Location: Onsite meetings preferred, with the option to log-in remotely as and when required. Our new offices are at Carrant House, Teddington Hands, Evesham Road, GL20 8NE.. With occasional meetings hosted at partner venues in Cheltenham and the surrounding area.

 

Time commitment: Four Board Meetings a year, lasting two hours and held in the evenings. In addition, we typically hold a biennial Strategy Day and there is current a Board sub-committee (Finance, Audit and Risk) and occasional working groups. Anticipated total of 10-12 days per year, to include preparation time.

 

Role purpose: Alongside the other Trustees, you will be responsible for the strategic leadership of Move More, in service of the charity’s vision and mission.

 

Specific functions:

 

  • Support the strategic leadership of the charity, ensuring that Move More achieves its vision.
  • Work in partnership with the other trustees, the Chief Executive and senior team, to deliver our mission.
  • Ensure Move More is carrying out our purposes for the public benefit
  • Ensure Move More is compliant with our governing document and the law
  • Ensure Move More’s resources are used responsibly
  • Ensure Move More is accountable
  • Act with reasonable care and skill in the best interest of Move More

Essential

  • A commitment to the vison and mission of Move More
  • A keen sense of strategic purpose.
  • The ability to challenge detail but stay focussed on the bigger picture
  • An inclusive style: able to inspire and support everyone to participate on an equal footing.
  • The ability to listen and engage effectively. You are comfortable with challenge and debate and are able to encourage that in others whilst fostering a collaborative board environment.
  • Advocate - be able and willing to champion Move More’s work through personal networks, social media, and other channels.
  • A strong personal commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.
  • Specific skills and experience in one of more of the following areas: disability sport/physical activity, accounting/finance, legal/compliance, information technology, research and innovation, marketing and communications, fundraising and commercial partnerships.

 

Desirable

  • Experience chairing committees, boards, or equivalent
