Citizens Advice Camden, part of the national Citizens Advice network, is a thriving local advice charity that provides information, advice and casework support to 10,000 individuals and families per year.
Role Purpose
The Income Maximisation Adviser role has been developed in partnership with Camden Foodbank and the Trussell Trust, to provide tailored advice and support to individuals accessing food assistance from Camden foodbank, and those identified as at risk of destitution.
The service aims to tackle the root causes of financial hardship and help households maximise their income. This includes delivering specialist welfare benefits advice to ensure clients receive all entitlements, supporting them through mandatory reconsiderations and appeals, and assisting them with applications for grants and other financial support.
Key elements/Tasks
- Interview clients sensitively and effectively to deliver individually tailored advice which empowers clients, whilst providing in-depth casework support when needed.
- Provide information, advice and casework through face-to-face meetings, by email and telephone to ensure clients’ needs are met.
- Conduct benefit entitlement checks, assist clients in claiming their full entitlements, and provide support to challenge incorrect benefit decisions.
- Support clients in claiming grants and discounts to maximise income and help stabilise household budgets.
