Community and Events Fundraising Officer
North London Hospice has been caring for local people since 1984, providing specialist palliative and end-of-life care to people with life-limiting illnesses across Barnet, Enfield and Haringey, and increasingly within Camden and Islington. Our services are completely free of charge however it now costs more than £16m a year to run our charity. We rely on the generosity of our community through donations and our shops to make up the shortfall in funding.
Role Purpose
Reporting to the Community and Events Manager, you will play a key role in growing income through community fundraising initiatives and delivering an exciting and expanding portfolio of events. This varied role combines creative promotion of fundraising opportunities, excellent supporter relationship management, and the planning and coordination of successful events. No two days will be the same, making this an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys a fast-paced and rewarding environment.
Key Responsibilities
Community Fundraising and Events
· Support the Community and Events Manager to develop and deliver a portfolio of community fundraising activities and fundraising events.
· Provide guidance and support to individuals, groups and organisations fundraising for the Hospice, helping them maximise income and deliver successful activities.
· Coordinate event logistics, participant communications and administration to ensure a positive supporter experience.
· Maintain accurate records of fundraising activity, event participants and supporter engagement on Raiser's Edge.
· Contribute ideas to enhance and grow the Hospice's community fundraising and events programme.
Marketing and Promotion
· Work with the Community and Events Manager and Communications Team to promote fundraising activities and events.
· Support the delivery of marketing plans and prepare briefs to assist with participant recruitment and supporter engagement.
Supporter and Volunteer Stewardship
· Deliver excellent stewardship to supporters and volunteers through a range of communication channels.
· Recruit, coordinate and support volunteers involved in fundraising events and activities.
· Build strong relationships with supporters, encouraging long-term engagement and identifying opportunities to maximise fundraising income.
Product Development and Innovation
· Contribute to the development of new fundraising products, events and initiatives.
· Support innovation and continuous improvement across the Community and Events programme.
General
· Work collaboratively with colleagues across Fundraising, Communications, Retail and Volunteering teams to maximise fundraising opportunities.
· Ensure fundraising activities comply with relevant legislation, Fundraising Regulator guidance and Hospice policies.
· Support the wider Fundraising Team as required and contribute to a positive, flexible and collaborative team culture.
· Maintain high standards of confidentiality, health and safety, and infection prevention and control at all times.
Person Specification
Experience and Knowledge
· Experience building and managing relationships with supporters, customers or other external stakeholders.
· Experience managing multiple priorities, projects and deadlines.
· Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
· Experience of using a CRM/database, events delivery, fundraising, or volunteer management would be advantageous.
Personal Qualities and Skills
· A great communicator with excellent relationship-building skills.
· Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
· Able to work both independently and collaboratively.
· Enthusiastic, proactive and able to remain calm under pressure.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Knowledge of social media and marketing techniques would be beneficial.
