International Field Officer - various locations overseas (January 2025 start date)

Location: Initial Field Officer training will be in Cambodia or Sri Lanka. First posting will be assigned across any of our global programmes.

The mission of the HALO Trust is: “To lead the effort to save lives and restore livelihoods for those affected by conflict”. HALO clears landmines, disposes of explosive ordnance including IEDs, and is involved in weapon control.
When you become a Field Officer in HALO, you join a team with a shared commitment to making a difference in some of the most vulnerable communities in the world. HALO offers a full training package for the role of Field Officer, and you do not require previous knowledge of landmine clearance or ordnance disposal.

HALO’s Field Officers work across our programmes in various roles and with early responsibilities. You will need the aptitude to be able to function in dynamic and challenging environments and you should have demonstrable management and leadership skills.
HALO’s training will prepare you for deployment to one of our programmes where you could be leading between 250 and 1,000 local employees. On the Field Officer course you will receive technical training in mine clearance, basic explosive ordnance disposal and minefield survey. You will cover HALO’s finance, logistics, security and quality management systems. Once deployed to a programme, in addition to operational field work you will be involved in equipment auditing and maintenance, overseeing repair of vehicles, and writing reports and proposals.
Working for HALO is rewarding, but it is also physically and mentally demanding. Living and operating in remote locations in basic conditions can be wearing. You will be away from home for months on end. HALO Field Officers must be flexible and be willing to be posted to any of HALO's programmes.

This role requires regular travel and a Full Driving License with access to your vehicle are an essential criteria.
An Enhanced DBS check is required for this role, as well as registration on the DBS Update Service. These will be completed as part of the Pre-Employment Screening process.

Job Role:
The Forces Employment Charity offers a specialist programme developed to support veterans in the Justice System who may be vulnerable, socially isolated, or need support to live or maintain a law-abiding life.
Reporting to Op NOVA East England Regional Manager. The successful candidate will have experience in managing and supporting a caseload of vulnerable veterans in your allocated region.
This position is full-time, 35 hours per week with a salary of £28,325. The successful candidate will be based at home with regular travel within the region, (Kent & Sussex). This role consists of managing and supporting caseloads of vulnerable veterans in your allocated region.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Contact all clients within 48 hours of allocation
- Undertake face to face needs assessments and develop support plan within 5 days of allocation
- Provide peer support and practical experience to colleagues and clients
- Carry out an assessment using the Outcome Star, understand and record Employment and Housing status, and other assessments as required by the Regional Manager.
- Review assessments at 3 monthly intervals to understand and demonstrate progress.
- Work with and empower client to engage with the support plan and goals agreed during their needs assessment
- Produce written report when requested highlighting support given to client and level of engagement
- Support the regional manager and national manager to create and maintain strong working relationships with referring organisations in the Area, including the Police, Probation Service and NHS Liaison and Diversion.

Candidates must have experience of working within a social or health care organisation, safeguarding and experience of managing complex relationships across a diverse field, e.g. OFSTED inspectors, social workers, residential care workers and registered managers, health care professionals.

This is a self-employed position and you will be paid a sessional rate.

You will be able to subscribe to an e-learning platform provided by NYAS. The platform will provide you with the opportunity to undertake a number of other professional courses that you can complete in your own time to maintain your own CPD. Citadel is a volunteer-led project preventing homelessness by helping people find or sustain their tenancies and establish a home. Volunteers, once recruited, trained and DBS checked are matched with those referred for support. Co-ordinators and volunteers work closely with those referred to establish what matters to them and how best they can support them.

As a Family Support Hub Officer, you will work within our Family Support Hub, liaising with identified partners to provide enhanced support to families caring for a child with a life limited illness. The Family Support Hub Officer will help us to deliver our programme of work for children’s health and social care services to improve and expand the range of support that they can offer to families.

You will be passionate about providing support to seriously ill children and their families and be inspired by the potential to make an impact and to deliver tangible change.
You will have helpline, support work or lived experience which evidences your ability to work empathetically with parents caring for a child with a life-limiting condition, have excellent communication skills, in particular an excellent telephone manner and be a skilled active listener.

Your role in our mission…
As the Policy Manager for Marie Curie Cymru, you will play a central role in shaping the policy environment and advocating tirelessly to improve care for people with a terminal illness and their loved ones.
In Wales, we know that too many people at the end of life don't have their needs met. Whether it's being supported to manage their symptoms in the community through timely access to palliative care, affording to warm their homes, accessing benefits advice, or responsive bereavement support for their loved ones. With finely tuned political skills, you'll know the challenges of shifting the health policy landscape in Wales and you'll be ready to find new ways to shape change.
As part of the role, you'll be the lead for policy development in Wales, bringing together evidence, ideas and lived experience to give policymakers a clear understanding of the issues facing people with a terminal illness. You will be encouraged to spot opportunities to talk about end of life care in Wales with policymakers, the media and general public.
If you want to make a difference, then you'll be part of a supportive team who will encourage you to take the initiative, make the case for change and feel ownership over your important work. At the same time you'll be supported to develop into the role and build your expertise with excellent learning and development support.
This is an ideal career opportunity for someone with experience in campaigning to influence policy or practice on a health or social issue either at a parliamentary or local level.

- Substantial results in securing support from the media in policy work.
- Experience of delivering presentations to a diverse audience and/or speaking at public events.
