Kitchen Supervisor

Homeless Care is an established charity in Maidstone supporting the homeless with a Day Centre and foodbank.  We are looking for someone to join our small, dedicated team and specifically to run all aspects of the kitchen, which is the heart of our Day Centre. In support, there is a cleaner to assist with end-of-day/week kitchen cleaning.

Your key responsibilities will be 

• Meal planning, and being flexible and imaginative with meal design based on any items donated 

• Efficient stock control and sourcing 

• Meal preparation - hot meals every day, plus packed lunches ‘to go’ 

• Ensuring all hygiene and infection control requirements are followed and met, and the required records kept 

• Working with the day centre cleaner to ensure the kitchen meets standard and supervising volunteers who on occasion help with meal preparation 

The right person will 

• Have experience working in a commercial kitchen 

• Have good knowledge of hygiene/infection control requirements 

• Be non-judgemental and positive 

• Be flexible, with a ‘can do’ approach 

In summary, you should enjoy working in a small team and want to contribute to the overall success of the Day Centre. On occasion you may be required by the Manager to take care of other duties to ensure the safe operation of Maidstone Homeless Care activities.
