We are looking for an Interim External Affairs Manager to help lead our communications activities from 24 June 2024 to 31 December, while our permanent External Affairs Manager is on sabbatical. This is a particularly exciting time to join the team, as we seek to maximise our impact ahead of the next general election and develop our strategy for the next few years.
The successful candidate will help to manage the day to day work of the External Affairs team, including supporting colleagues to enhance our reach on social media and digital channels, deliver our events programme and deepen our impact with key audiences.

This is a diverse role and will include:
Communications and events

Working with Head of External Affairs and Income (EA&I) to manage the External Affairs’ team’s day-to-day work, including supporting the team with social media, website and press relations

Working with Head of EA&I to deliver communications strategy

Overseeing and project managing the charity’s events programme
Leadership and management

Leading External Affairs team catch ups and project planning
-
Line managing an External Affairs Officer and an Intern with a focus on professional development

Providing sign-off on a number of areas, including those that carry some risk to the charity

Working with the Head of EA&I to collect key management information to report on the impact and reach of external affairs activities to the CEO

Assisting with the charity’s other activities as required.
Influencing and stakeholder management

Working with the Head of EA&I to manage and deliver the influencing strategy, including helping to deliver campaigns.

Supporting team with public affairs engagement
Essential skills and qualities:

A comms all-rounder who can help lead and manage our busy External Affairs team.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to tell a clear story and to tailor content for different audiences.

The ability to guide colleagues in producing a range of content for different platforms and audiences, including via social media, digital and press relations.

The capacity to juggle competing priorities, and to help guide others in doing so.

Strong project management, organisation and decision-making skills.

Experience of organising events (particularly online) and an understanding of different tactics to engage audiences.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Lead Data & Analytics Manager to join our Marketing and Income Generation directorate. You will join us working 35 hours per week for a period of 6 months and in return you will receive a competitive salary of up to £53,353 per annum plus excellent benefits.

The Data team, based in the Marketing & Income Generation directorate, focuses on data processing, data selections and data analysis. The Data team has grown over the last couple of years due to significant charity growth. The Data Team sits within the newly formed Income Generation Operations team however the data team provides a service to the whole of the Marketing & Income Generation directorate as well as other parts of the organisation.
Responsibilities of our Lead Data & Analytics Manager:
As Lead Data & Analytics Manager, you will support the Head of Data & Analytics in providing the Marketing & Income Generation directorate with the data services required to attain its 10-year strategy by delivering an exceptional and reliable centralized support function across data operations and analytics. You will lead a high performing and specialised Data & Analytics team responsible for developing, maintaining and utilising supporter information systems that adhere to sector-wide best practice and legal requirements as well as ensuring analytics are at the heart of the fundraising decision making.
What we’re looking for in our Lead Data & Analytics Manager:
- Experience of building and leading a high performing and technical Data & Analytics team
- Proven track record of driving key data transformation projects
- Proven experience of developing data systems and processes to increase efficiencies
- Managing external suppliers, including contract management and supplier tendering process
- Excellent understanding of fundraising data operations (including income and data processing and data selections), analytics and compliance

We are looking for a capable and creative individual to join the leadership of Resurgo, with oversight of strategy development and implementation, finance and governance. As a strong leader and people manager with experience across strategy and finance, you will have an ability to lead projects with multiple complex priorities through to completion, be a confident decision maker and communicator, and be passionate about social transformation.
The important stuff
Salary: from £70,000 with significant flexibility
Contract: Interim
Hours: 5 days per week (4 considered), 9.30am – 5.30pm, with occasional evening work for events such as our Spear Celebrations.
Location: Hammersmith, London – we are an office-based organisation with some work at home possible in agreement with the line manager

Person Specification
- An active Christian, passionate about personally representing the values and beliefs of Resurgo, and a demonstrated commitment to social impact and our mission to play a meaningful part in the repair of our social fabric
- Strong strategic thinking and business and financial acumen – experience in a management consulting or financial management role is essential
- Self-motivated forward planner with the ability to navigate complex fast-moving environments, adapt to changing circumstances, and exercise initiative, with a track record of driving growth and achieving results
- Financially literate, with experience overseeing strategic financial processes, e.g., budgeting, financial management and resource allocation
- Good IT skills with a working knowledge of Salesforce and Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. An awareness of charity regulatory and compliance requirements is beneficial
- Strong proven leadership skills and the ability to relate confidently to a range of audiences
- Relational team player with high emotional intelligence, a sense of humour and fun, and the ability to inspire and motivate diverse teams
Key Responsibilities
Strategy Development and Implementation
- Leading the organisation through the iterative development and implementation of strategic projects to serve the ambition of Resurgo, to “inspire and equip organisations to deliver ambitious and sustainable social change”
- Provide direction and support to Heads of Department, setting them up to succeed in the implementation of ambitious plans
- Line management of the Strategy Managaer, who project manages and drives the delivery of annual departmental targets and strategic projects across the organisation.
Finance
- Line management of Head of Finance, providing strategic leadership in the development of the finance function and oversight of organisational financial management
- Lead the annual planning process, working with the Head of Finance and Director of People, Culture & Operations to shape and deliver annual financial planning
Oversight of Governance, Risk and Opportunity
- Executive Chair of the Strategy, Finance and Risk steering group, owning the most significant risks and opportunities facing Resurgo at an organisational level, ensuring actions are taken to mitigate risks and that we are set up to maximise opportunity
- Responsible for overseeing governance structures and ensuring they are fit for purpose as the organisation develops and grows
- Supporting the Executive Assistant to the CEO in the facilitation of the effective running of the Boards of Resurgo Trust and Resurgo Consulting, including planning and overseeing Board and key Steering Group meetings.
Active Participation in and Support for Resurgo’s team and mission
- Help build and develop Resurgo’s ethos and Christian life as a team member, including leading and contributing to daily team prayer meetings as an integral part of Resurgo’s operation and for the success of its mission
