Community Advice Works is an established community charity based in New Cross in South
East London. As the only charity in the London Borough of Lewisham offering a general
drop-in advice service, we are a critical source of support to vulnerable residents. We have
built a strong reputation within the Borough for providing high quality, independent, person-
centred welfare and housing advice. The organisation employs several part-time staff and
has a team of volunteers. In addition to providing advice we currently deliver a domestic
violence project at Guys and St Thomas’ Hospital.

Like many charities in the advice sector, CAW is going through a process of change. We are
looking for an experienced and community-driven individual with a strong set of managerial
and interpersonal skills, preferably with a background in advice work, to maintain the strong
structures and reputation for excellence that we have developed.

As service manager, you will work with our friendly staff and trustee team to deliver our vital
service. We pride ourselves on providing a flexible, inclusive and rewarding work

and public service - whether your experience is the public, private or charity sector.

Key duties

• Staff and volunteer management
• Line manage staff by providing support and supervision as needed, conducting regular performance reviews, and identifying staff training needs
• Oversee recruitment, training, and management of volunteers to ensure they are properly supported and equipped to help meet CAW’s service goals

Service delivery

• Ensure high quality and timely service delivery in line with the Service Level Agreements with our various service partners
• Identify any issues with service delivery and help develop cost-effective solutions to them as appropriate
• Compile and maintain accurate statistics on service performance to share with funders and CAW trustees
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with our key service partners through regular engagement, including attendance at regular service partnership meetings
• Engage regularly with our funders and other key stakeholders to build and maintain positive working relationships, and provide them with timely reporting on our service performance as needed 
•  Update service level agreements with existing funders, and draft new agreements as needed
•  Interact with clients as needed in a friendly and professional manner

Administration and Finance

• Ensure day-to-day administrative processes are functioning smoothly, and that necessary policies and procedures are up to date
• Line manage work of receptionist/administrative support worker

Fundraising and Marketing

• Help identify new funding and other revenue-raising opportunities
• Support the work of the fundraising sub-committee in preparing funding applications
• Work with trustees and external vendors to ensure CAW website is kept up-to-date
• Work with trustees and external vendors (as appropriate) to develop a social media presence for CAW
• Identifying and supporting efforts to increase CAW’s profile in the local community and to build relationships with key local stakeholders as appropriate Governance
• Prepare monthly reports for the trustees on service performance

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a managerial role

The Role 
 
As our Deputy Shop Manager you will be responsible for setting up our brand-new shop in Hull, supporting the Shop Manager in implementing processes and ways of working.

• Play an active part in running our shop in Hull, supporting the Shop Manager in implementing processes and ways of working.

• Provide cover for days off, holidays and sickness as required, with possible occasional travel to other shops to provide support if needed by the charity. 

• Support the Shop Manager to maximise the income and profit of the shop through active stock management, replenishment, and rotation. 

• Manage a team of well-trained volunteers in the absence of the Shop Manager and take every effort to create a happy retail environment. 

• Support the Shop Manager to ensure accurate accounting and handling of assets (items donated and money received). 

• Support the Shop Manager to ensure accurate record keeping of items donated and the amount paid for each item for Gift Aid tax reclaim purposes.

About the role:

The Senior Multiple Needs Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) will work within a dynamic, crisis intervention, advocacy and support service based at the CGL Ealing Women’s Wellness Zone.  The IDVA will provide support in the local community and at the Ealing Women’s Wellness Zone.  The successful candidate will be co-located up to 5 days a week at the Women’s Wellness Zone.

The IDVA will be closely working alongside CGL colleagues/team to deliver support to women with a range of complex support needs including substance misuse, mental health, domestic abuse, sex working, trafficking, and offending behaviour. The IDVA will work in collaboration with their team members to holistically support women in the borough of Ealing to achieve sustained recovery, improved health and wellbeing, helping women to manage/mitigate risks, and empowering them to reach their fullest potential in society as well as ensuring the voice of survivors informs every stage of the process.

The Senior Multiple Needs IDVA will assess the needs and risks of survivors, carry out short and longer-term risk management, safety planning and support. As well as identify and refer to services appropriate to their needs. They will also proactively advocate and advice women of their rights and options for seeking help and support from other agencies, encouraging them to engage with other agencies, and help co-ordinate the provision of multi-agency support where necessary.

About You:

To be successful as the Senior Multiple Needs IDVA you will need to have:

Excellent understanding of domestic abuse and its effects on women and children, of best practice in supporting survivors of domestic abuse, and of the MARAC. As well as understanding of drug and alcohol issues and experience of working within a related field.

Bringing your experience of risk and needs assessment, safety and support planning, and crisis planning and successfully managing high numbers of referrals and experience of working in a co-located setting with another agency and providing consultations/briefings to professionals to support in upskilling them around Domestic Abuse. The candidate will have experience of partnership working and of maintaining excellent working relationships with a range of stakeholders.

This is an exciting opportunity for you to work as part of an innovative service, designed to offer multi-disciplinary wrap-around support to women with multiple needs, with the aim of facilitating long-term recovery.

To oversee the day-to-day delivery of CQC registered high quality dignified residential care and support services promoting respect, equality and the independence of the people supported.

Principal Accountabilities

• Efficiently manage the day-to-day delivery of the adult residential care home service
• Manage staffing levels to ensure sufficient numbers of suitably qualified staff.
• Effectively manage the staff team providing information, guidance and on-going supervision and performance management reviews.

You will be a mental health practitioner with experience of delivering therapeutic services and understand the different types of therapy and support clients need. To succeed in the role, you will need excellent communication skills, project management and line management experience.

The current postholder is going on maternity leave so we are looking for someone who is able to step into the role and hit the ground running. You will be motivated, flexible and adaptable.

Along with managing the rollout of Lancashire Mind’s therapeutic services, you will manage several coaching focussed projects. As such you will lead on partner and funder liaison, promotion, quality assurance, monitoring and reporting. You will work with a range of voluntary and community organisations and will identify and develop new opportunities for services.

Home-Start Southwark works with families who are pregnant or have children under 5. Our core work is to provide weekly support from a trained peer volunteer or worker empowering families to make changes to improve their lives. Main Purpose:

• Work closely with the Chief Executive to develop and evolve Home-Start’s services in response to changing needs, informing the strategy for our family support and development of services.
• Provide vision, direction, and leadership to motivate staff and volunteers to deliver high-quality services that make a measurable positive difference to children and their families.
• Manage the HSS Family Support Team, coordinating and quality assuring their work.
• Collaborate with multi-agency partners to deliver evidence-based interventions that support parenting and prevent need escalating, including structured programmes and group work.
• Be a Designated Safeguarding Lead for the charity.

Job Title: Temporary Lead Manager - Floating Support Services

Assignment Duration: 2-3 months

Location: Southwark based office with occasional onsite visits

Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00-17:00

Pay: £22.00 - £25.00 per hour

About the Role:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Temporary Lead Manager to oversee our client's Floating support services. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of dedicated staff members and ensuring the effective service delivery of support to approximately 270 service users, primarily individuals transitioning from temporary accommodation to private rented housing.

To Apply for this role, you must have an enhanced DBS issued within the last 12 months or one that is on the update service.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and motivate a team of 13 staff members, including Senior Practitioners, Lead Workers, and Support Workers, to achieve the highest standards in service delivery.
• Co-ordinate all activities within the project/team effectively, maintaining organisational standards and meeting targets.
• Develop and implement work plans, operational policies, and procedures to support the mission and objectives of our organisation.
• Manage resources effectively, including financial procedures and controls.
• Collaborate with senior management and stakeholders to optimise service delivery and ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
• Provide coaching, professional development, and line management support to employees, including performance management and supervision.
• Deliver timely and accurate reports and analysis to senior management and funders.
• Represent our organisation at external meetings and maintain positive relationships with commissioners and stakeholders.
• Adapt to changing circumstances and undertake alternative work as necessary to fulfil obligations to service users.

Requirements:

• Experience managing support services for vulnerable populations, including working with challenging behaviour and achieving agreed outcomes.
• Substantial experience in managing and motivating staff during periods of change, ensuring strategic relevance and effective service delivery.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish positive working relationships with service users, colleagues, and external partners.
• Ability to work independently with initiative while being accountable to line management.
• Excellent written, numerical, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively.

About the Role

We are looking for a self-motivated individual with proven ability of managing and supervising a team. You will have recent relevant experience of working in a local Citizens Advice or similar advice organisation, and be able to demonstrate a good knowledge and understanding of the issues facing local communities.

This role involves the supervision of advice sessions, providing guidance and assistance to those working in our Epsom office as well as to staff working from home or in outreach locations.

The post is responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the day to day service and the implementation of consistent processes to maintain quality standards. In addition you will manage volunteer advice staff and work closely with the Training team to support their training and development.

• Proficient in the use of IT systems, including office, case management and benefit calculation systems.
• Commitment to work within the aims, principles and policies of the Citizens Advice service, demonstrating an understanding of issues affecting society and the implications on our clients and service.

Cranstoun is a social justice and harm reduction charity. We offer a wide range of services across England including housing & homelessness, substance use, domestic abuse, children & young people, and criminal justice.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead our supported housing services in Wandsworth.  Focussing on harm reduction, the service supports residents to stabilise their substance use and achieve their individual goals. The service has 30 units of accommodation across 5 sites. The service has recently adopted a high tolerance to drug use approach in one of the houses.

You will have experience of leading and managing teams within housing/supported housing and managing the support provided to people with multiple disadvantages. Embedding recent service changes and leading new developments within the service, you will instil a positive team culture with a focus on risk management.
