The Opportunity

The Business Development Director will have strategic responsibility for income and growth, working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to maximise business opportunities. You will lead development of key partnerships with new and existing stakeholders, commercialisation of services, and lead the communications and marketing strategy. The post holder will lead the Business Development Team, developing collaborative partnerships and leadership as part of the SLT and by supporting the Leeds Mind Board of Trustees.  You should have excellent commercial awareness, communication and interpersonal skills, drive and commitment to promote and deliver innovate high quality provision and experiences for people with mental health difficulties.

The Business Development Director will set a clear strategic plan for growth, leading our tendering and partnership processes to fulfil our strategic objectives and maximise our impact. In collaboration with CEO  and SLT, you will inform the strategic direction and deliver against key performance indicators in creating a progressive and agile culture. You will lead the implementation and development of income generation, developing and implementing strategies to drive all income streams to drive growth. You will develop a pipeline to maximise income from corporate partnerships, (including training), whilst looking at diversifying the portfolio to generate new business

Essential Skills and Experience:

• Proven experience/success in a leadership role in Charity Income Generation and sustainable business development
• Working knowledge of Charity Income Generation and regulations
• Good understanding of bid framework, commissioning, and tendering

We are looking for an expert who can bring their enthusiasm and knowledge of autistic learners to join our team as our Aspirations Manager. You will be an effective leader, with school experience and QTS, who can inspire staff and our learners on their pathways to greater independence.

This role is a vital member of the Senior Management Team supporting the Chief Executive to make strategic decisions as well as contributing to the areas of Human Resources and Health and Safety to ensure Red2Green runs effectively.

Role purpose

The purpose of this role is to lead, develop and deliver WorldSkills UK’s external Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (ED&I) programmes supported by stakeholder engagement strategies across our network of industry, education and government. The role will ensure that we engage external stakeholders to help deliver our ambition to be a leader, partner and ally in creating positive change for ED&I in the skills sector.

Key tasks and responsibilities

1. Deliver positive action activity for change:

• Support the development and delivery of WorldSkills UK’s external ED&I strategy. Ensure it is fit for purpose, has recognised long term goals and will deliver measurable change, reflecting organisational priorities around increased engagement with ethnic minority groups and females. Provide an overarching framework and help further develop strategic KPIs for our ED&I work, ensuring effective use of data, monitoring progress and performance.
• Work with the Senior Strategic Partnerships Manager to develop action plans that will drive our continuous improvement:
  • Support our skills competition development programmes to increase the diversity of young people engaged
  • Support the development of role models to showcase the impact of our work and encourage diversity in key areas of industry, including future priority skill areas
  • Support the development of learning resources that aid engagement with underrepresented groups
  • Support teams to ensure ED&I matters are considered and addressed as key components of all strategies, plans and programmes.

2. Manage the ED&I Advisory Group:

• This is a unique opportunity to work with experienced and prominent senior individuals from across education and industry who are invested in driving the agenda for ED&I.
• Lead the administration and ongoing development of our Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Advisory Group.
• Engage the Group to help support, advise and challenge WorldSkills UK on its actions to remove obstacles and barriers faced by young people from under-represented backgrounds in our programmes.
• Report regularly to the Group on progress against KPI’s and facilitate reports for the WorldSkills UK Board.

3. Project Manage the ED&I Heroes Awards

• The Awards is an established flagship event which provides a platform for WorldSkills UK to celebrate success with its partners, amplify best practice and inspire others to drive change across the skills systems in education and business.
• Project manage delivery of the annual Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Heroes Awards, supported by relevant internal teams
  • Establish the nominations process
  • Co-ordinate the judging panel
  • Organise the awards ceremony
  • Manage the support of the awards partners.

4. Manage strategic relationships

• Manage a portfolio of ED&I focused Strategic Partnerships with organisations from across the skills sector, facilitating their support and engagement with our EDI programmes.
• Grow our network of partners to widen our reach, help further drive work in this area and collectively impact on the sector.
• Advise and support the development of the CEO’s international activities on ED&I with WorldSkills International (WSI).

5. Raise the profile of WorldSkills UK’s ED&I work:

• Work with teams across the organisation to support our Mission to ignite a national and global movement to help more young people, regardless of their background, get the best possible start in work and life.
• Support the Senior Strategic Partnerships Manager and Marketing and Communications Team to showcase the impact of our programmes:
  • Help to externally profile and articulate the value and impact of our activities using the channels and tools available
  • Seek opportunities to advocate for our work through stakeholder engagement and networking
  • Support the Corporate Partnerships team to identify and secure commercial income related to our ED&I initiatives.

This role is office based (as above) but with flexible hybrid working. It is expected the postholder will attend the office at least once or twice a week.

Events Manager

The Events Manager is a crucial role at the College, as you will be responsible for the planning and delivery of the College’s annual flagship conference. As Events Manager, you will work closely with internal and external stakeholders and suppliers to ensure this event is executed to an exemplary standard.

You will manage the Conference Committee and work closely with College Officers, Members and internal colleagues including the Creative Content and Marketing, Children and Young People and Corporate Services Teams to deliver our high-profile conference. Helping to ensure impactful campaigns are created to drive delegate registration and engagement, you will also be responsible for producing detailed project plans and RASCIs for the conference.

Reporting to the Head of Events, you will provide support with the tracking of event expenditure, managing supplier procurement processes and negotiating with suppliers to guarantee value for money. Taking the lead on all College relationships with internal and external service providers, you’ll also ensure that site visits and assessments are carried out where necessary, making certain that insurance, legal and Health & Safety obligations are adhered to.

In addition to the flagship conference, you will support the wider team in the delivery of other high profile engagement activities including international conferences, membership ceremonies, regional member events, dinners and a number of ad-hoc events according to College priorities. You will also deliver virtual events as required, taking the lead on researching virtual event solutions to ensure that the College meets shifting member needs.

Educated to a good standard, with demonstratable experience of delivering large scale (1,000+) educational or scientific conferences, you should have a background of working with external professional conference organisers along with experience of working in a membership or not-for-profit organisation.

Excellent relationship management and interpersonal skills with colleagues, internal and external stakeholders and suppliers are essential, as are outstanding communication skills, both oral and written.

With a good understanding of project management methodology and how to apply it to events, you should have a sound knowledge and insight into the wider event industry, in order to keep up-to-date with trends, developments, innovation and legislation. Solution centric to enable innovation, you must be able to adapt to changing situations.

Line management experience and the ability to motivate and develop direct reports is essential, whilst an event management or project management qualification, along with experience of running events outside of the UK would be desirable.

The Membership, Policy and External Affairs Division actively promotes the membership, stakeholders and the public awareness of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) and core child health priorities. 

The RCPCH sets and maintains standards for the education and training of all doctors working in paediatrics and child health in the UK. We advocate on child health issues at home and internationally. Additionally, through a variety of activities, the College influences the quality of medical practice for children in hospital and in the community.

The RCPCH has more than 22,000 members and fellows and employs around 200 staff, most of whom work in our London office in Holborn. We have smaller offices in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

The RCPCH wants to represent all the communities we serve. Appointment will be made solely on merit. CVAA UK is a membership organisation supporting not-for-profit adoption agencies across the UK who specialise in finding homes for children in care. Over 3000 children in the UK need adoption each year because they cannot remain at home or with family members. The CVAA Practice Programme delivers 30 or more online courses each year to those working in the sector, primarily social workers. The programme has developed a strong reputation for attracting a range of subject experts to deliver cost effective, engaging and useful training. The full programme is listed on the CVAA UK website and inlcudes topics such as LGBTQ+ parenting; therapy for children; identity formation; racism and anti-racism; parenting courses; theraplay and many more.

Due to a restructure of the team, we are now looking for a Training Manager who can oversee the administration and delivery of the programme. Initially fixed term, it is anticipated that this post will become permanent. We are keen to have someone joiun us as soon as possible.

The Training Manager will work with the Head of Practice Development to ensure that the courses are full, supported, delivered effectively and evaluated. Part of the role will also be to source new trainers and support the creation of the programme into 2025.

The CVAA team work remotely across the UK so location of the postholder is not a barrier to recruitment as long as long as they can travel occasionally and come into London for team days. The team is small, diverse and dynamic. Experience of project management or delivery of training or events is more important than knowledge of adoption or children's social care. Somerset Environmental Records Centre (SERC) is a member of the Association of Local Environmental Records Centres and has close links to the National Biodiversity Network, and the National Federation of Biological Recorders. SERC is hosted by Somerset Wildlife Trust who, together with our partner organisations, guide the development of the Records Centre through an Executive Group.

We are looking for an experienced manager to support the strategy and manage the SERC Team whilst positioning SERC as the ‘go to’ ecological data evidence provider for the county.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

Strategy and Business Development:

The SERC Manager will be part of the Operational Management Team supporting the Senior Leadership Team through clear strategy and business development by:

• Develop and oversee the strategic development, business planning and operational management of SERC.
• Ensuring SERC is financially sustainable and growing by seeking income generating opportunities to develop SERC business, identifying additional markets and services, and developing and implementing a Business Plan.
• Positioning SERC as the ‘go to’ ecological data evidence provider for the county and leading the marketing and communications to drive this forward.
• Ensuring SERC has capability and resource to achieve commitments through Service Level Agreements, ensuring that SERC is having a positive contribution to planning and policy across the county.
• Overseeing the development and delivery of the Somerset State of Nature Report, analysing and interpreting data to establish trends and identify where action for nature recovery needs to occur as the process for monitoring delivery of the Local Nature Recovery Strategy for Somerset.

Responsibility 1: Data Analysis and Services

Manage a robust data collection and interpretation service by:

• Establishing customer requirements, including researching and monitoring of users’ needs.
• Contributing high quality information and searches to enable effective planning decisions
• Overseeing the work programmes in data capture, entry, management, analysis, interpretation and dissemination to support evidence driven decision-making. 
• Negotiate SLAs with key existing and new service users

Responsibility 2: SERC Team Management

Achieve the aims of the Business Plan agreed with SERC Executive Group and Somerset Wildlife Trust through:

• Managing the SERC team in the setting of objectives, considering succession, priorities and work programmes to ensure high quality, efficient and timely delivery of projects and services to users.
• Developing and applying Local Records Centre protocols and policies, meeting the requirements of data users and providers, as well as professional codes of conduct and the promotion of national standards, through achieving ALERC accreditation.
• Keeping abreast of and contributing to political and technical developments in biodiversity data management and make presentations of SERC’s work and national policy development to seminars and conferences.
• Receiving and resolving complaints and representations about SERC services from data users and providers.
• Setting and managing budgets, risks and issues.

Responsibility 3: Develop through Advocacy, Influence and Delivery

Be a specialist and nurture strong relationships by:

• Developing excellent relationships with national and local recording communities and support them to contribute high quality useful data that informs an evidence-led strategy to improve Somerset’s natural environment.
• Coordinating the SERC Executive Group to deliver and monitor an effective strategy for the Records Centre that provides usable data for planners, Service Level Agreement holders and working with Somerset Wildlife Trust, in the provision of a conservation strategy for the county.
• Set data access parameters to secure SERC business model while making data as open access as possible
• Developing secure funding and commercial income streams, and manage SERC project-based work, meeting the aims of an agreed Business Plan and Somerset Wildlife Trust’s strategy.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Head of Operations and Development (HOD) will play a pivotal role in taking our work to its next stage, helping us deliver even greater impact across our community.

With ultimate decision making responsibility for the charity the HOD will work alongside the Head of Counselling and Head of Training,  overseeing the smooth running of day-to-day operations at the Centre while also nurturing opportunities for commercial growth by supporting the fundraising strategy and targeted expansion of our service offering.

Capable of working autonomously, you will be expected to form an integral part of an experienced, hardworking team of professionals and administrators who are dedicated to ensuring the Centre succeeds in all it does.

ABOUT YOU

First and foremost, you will be passionate about the importance of improving mental health in our community.

An excellent communicator with people at all levels, you will be in a position to leverage your commercial and business skills to build on the Centre’s existing operational framework. You will also be expected to get up to speed quickly with various aspects of the Centre’s business functions, including finance, IT and marketing.

Management-level experience in a charitable or not-for-profit organisation is an advantage, but more important is a hands-on, can-do approach and the motivation to help deliver the Centre’s strategy over the coming years.

The Fairtrade Foundation are recruiting for a strong team manager and technical expert for the role of Head of Sustainable Sourcing to lead Fairtrade’s work developing & implementing sustainable supply chain strategies and the successful end to end journey of our licensees that will deliver increased impact for producers and grow the UK market for Fairtrade.

Fairtrade drives change through changing trade and in this role, you will lead, manage and motivate a team of senior managers, managers and officers responsible for the delivery of Fairtrade’s impact goals - ensuring Fairtrade’s interventions address the most important sustainability challenges across economic, environmental and social issues. This role will be leading across key commodities such as Cocoa, Coffee, Bananas, Tea, Gold and Flowers and across all our licensees.

You will need to be a very strong team leader and strategic thinker with a growth mind-set with strong expertise in international development and/or sustainable supply chains. Leading supply chain risk management, building solutions and driving forward opportunities to reduce environmental and human rights risks in supply chains.

The role is key for Fairtrade’s external profile and external relationship management. You will lead our UK partnerships with key intermediary partners supplying retail, brands and out of home partners (e.g. packers, roasters, traders, manufacturers, refiners) providing supply chain expertise and leading the support more broadly and all along the value chain to drive improved business practices in our retail, OOH and brand partners.

You will act as an ambassador for Fairtrade proactively looking for opportunities to speak on platforms and at conferences and creating opportunities to communicate and to convene stakeholders to share Fairtrade’s sustainable supply chain expertise and approaches externally and internally. Working in close partnership with the global Fairtrade movement - Fairtrade International, National Fairtrade Organisations, FLO-Cert and Producer Networks – you will deliver an integrated global strategy for positive change for producers.
