We are looking for an Interim External Affairs Manager to help lead our communications activities from 24 June 2024 to 31 December, while our permanent External Affairs Manager is on sabbatical. This is a particularly exciting time to join the team, as we seek to maximise our impact ahead of the next general election and develop our strategy for the next few years. 

The successful candidate will help to manage the day to day work of the External Affairs team, including supporting colleagues to enhance our reach on social media and digital channels, deliver our events programme and deepen our impact with key audiences.

This is a diverse role and will include:

Communications and events

• Working with Head of External Affairs and Income (EA&I) to manage the External Affairs’ team’s day-to-day work, including supporting the team with social media, website and press relations

• Working with Head of EA&I to deliver communications strategy

• Overseeing and project managing the charity’s events programme

Leadership and management

• Leading External Affairs team catch ups and project planning 

• Line managing an External Affairs Officer and an Intern with a focus on professional development

• Providing sign-off on a number of areas, including those that carry some risk to the charity

• Working with the Head of EA&I to collect key management information to report on the impact and reach of external affairs activities to the CEO

• Assisting with the charity’s other activities as required.

Influencing and stakeholder management

• Working with the Head of EA&I to manage and deliver the influencing strategy, including helping to deliver campaigns.

• A comms all-rounder who can help lead and manage our busy External Affairs team.

This is an exciting opportunity to provide clinical leadership and supervision to a number of therapeutic services within Richmond Borough Mind. Our developed and respected Psychotherapy and Counselling Service has been providing long-term counselling interventions to local residents since 1988. The service is self-funded and offers a range of therapies which aim to provide individuals with the support and opportunity to work through their difficulties in depth with a skilled and experienced trainee or fully qualified therapist. Sliding scale rates are offered to make sure that we are accessible to all. We also run a number of therapeutic, psychoeducational, support and peer-led one to one sessions and groups, training workshops and other activities.

We are looking for a skilled and qualified (or in advance training) counselling supervisor to provide clinical supervision, leadership, management and service development of our Psychotherapy and Counselling service. Knowledge and understanding of a number of modalities would be an asset.  Part of the role will be to help us achieve and maintain BACP or equivalent service accreditation and to grow the service.

As well as having an empathy with the core values of RB Mind, the successful applicant will be a confident and versatile communicator with outstanding relationship-building, organisational and problem-solving skills, and have the ability to provide empathy and guided support to staff, volunteer counsellors, administrators and clients. Position

The Mental Health Foundation is recruiting for a Policy & Public Affairs Officer to support our Policy Team in the London office.

Deadline: Monday 13 May, 9.00 am.

Location: London

Salary: Starting salary £31,350 rising to £35,381 plus £3,285 London Weighting.

Hours: Full-time (35 hours per week). We are currently trialling a 32-hour week until April 2025 on the same pay & conditions.

This exciting Policy & Public Affairs Officer role will lead on developing and influencing specific policy priorities identified by the Foundation as areas where change is most needed to improve the population’s mental health. Initially, the policy area of focus for this role will be the mental health of asylum seekers and refugees.

What does the role involve?

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of policy and legislative developments affecting public mental health and particular priority policy topics for the Foundation.
• Carry out background research, developing influencing plans, responding to government consultations and providing briefings for politicians and other external stakeholders.
• Ensure the Foundation’s stakeholders, including people with lived experience of mental ill health, are involved in development of policy work and strategy.

The Senior Internal Communications Officer will be responsible for the management, delivery and evaluation of our internal communications activity. The post-holder will work closely with colleagues in the wider Brand & Marketing and External Affairs team - as well as senior colleagues across the wider organisation - to take briefings, gather information and communicate key updates for the wider staff base. Key Responsibilities:

· Develop an internal communications strategy and annual plan in conjunction with the Head of External Affairs;

Delphside Limited is entering an exciting phase of change, but is mindful of the challenges the mental health care and charity sector as a whole is facing.

To help mitigate this this, we are looking to enhance our Governance and control systems in terms of our financial and administration management.

The role is a temporary role (6-12 months) to help direct and support changes of financial systems, data control processes and to help ensure the current team, including our current Finance Manager, are supported with the implementation of a more up to date and effective way of working.

Ideally you will be a fully qualified accountant, but equally we would welcome applications from individuals who are qualified by experience or accredited qualification (e.g. AAT Level 4, ACCA/ACA qualified etc.) It is essential you have proven experience of delivering strategic leadership in finance, preferably (but not essentially) in the charitable sector and that you can deliver changes of processes and systems.

Knowledge of Sage and also XERO systems would be beneficial.

Main Responsibilities :

· Provide full review of current financial controls, identify and implement a new financial I.T./software system suited to service needs.

· Oversee the procurement, implementation and transition to the new financial I.T./software system once it is identified.

· The post holder will assist with the strategic planning and budget preparation for the organisation as well as maintaining the charity's financial accounting systems.

· To provide support to the Finance Manager by overseeing the preparation of the organisation’s accounts for audit in accordance with current accounting good practice and Charity Commission’s Standards of Recommended Practice (SORP)

· Lead, develop and support a small dedicated finance and administration team

· Long term financial planning and assisting the CEO with succession planning in the finance area of the service, including creation of a financial risk register.

The Senior Philanthropy Manager will line manage the Philanthropy Officer, supporting their development and fostering an overall culture of collaboration and high performance. The role will also personally cultivate and steward relationships with new and existing major donors, and work collaboratively on a programme of stewardship and cultivation events.

About Black Thrive 

Black Thrive Global (BTG) evolved from the work of the Black Thrive Lambeth (BTL) Partnership, which was established in 2016. We exist to address the inequalities that negatively impact the mental health and wellbeing of Black people so that the thriving of Black communities is the norm. 

Our guiding principle is that Black communities should be at the forefront of reimagining, redefining, and co-creating a society where systemic racism and other oppressive systems have been dismantled so that they have fulfilling lives. We have two priorities – building a Black Thrive Research Institute and embedding race equity in systems change. 

We have grown rapidly since 2021 and so still have a start-up culture and often deal with competing priorities at a fast pace. 

The aim of Black Queer & Thriving is to explore the health and wellbeing needs of Black LGBTQ+ people in Lambeth and Southwark, develop community research that details these needs with the Working Group and use the outcome to influence local policy and infrastructure. 

The purpose of this role is to support the Black Queer & Thriving workstream with the main priorities being: 

• Providing administrative support to the development of the Black LGBTQ+ Working Group, including organising meetings and minute taking; 

• Supporting relationship management with Lambeth and Southwark’s Black LGBTQ+ community; and 

• Leading on a community research project exploring the health and wellbeing experiences of Black LGBTQ+ people in Lambeth and Southwark.

The list below is not an exhaustive list of duties, due to the dynamic nature of the work occurring at Black Thrive we are looking for someone who is willing to adapt to our responsive workstreams, and who can be agile in the performance of different tasks.

Duties and responsibilities 

1. Support the project’s engagement and involvement with Lambeth and Southwark’s Black LGBTQ+ communities, particularly young people. 

2. Lead on designing and maintaining databases to support the network mapping of stakeholders and ensure relationship management of key stakeholders. 

3. Leading on a community research project with the Working Group and participate in and support other research, evaluation and learning activities. 

4. Keep abreast of various projects, initiatives and coalitions locally, regionally and nationally, as well as emerging legislation policy and practice related to the workstream. 

5. Support the Programme & Partnership Manager with project management and reporting arrangements relating to the achievement of objectives and milestones. 

6. Organise meeting and events and manage the associated administration such as room bookings, preparing and distribution of agendas, minute taking and action tracking. 

7. Support the development of the Black LGBTQ+ Working Group, including recruitment, organising meetings and minutes.
