About us

Mental Health Matters (MHM) is a national charity with over 40 years’ experience of delivering innovative, life-changing mental health support for individuals and communities. We provide services across England, from talking therapies and crisis provision to employment, housing and community wellbeing. Every person who works with us directly contributes to breaking down barriers, improving mental health and helping people live meaningful lives in a society free from stigma.

Everything about MHM is people-focused, both for our workforce and for those we support. Guided by our values of being compassionate, collaborative, accountable and proud, we are building on our Proud Past, Bold Future strategy to create lasting positive impact for communities.

About the role

We are embarking on an exciting period of transformation in our Kent services, where our crisis havens have grown rapidly as an innovative, non-clinical alternative to A&E for people in crisis. We are now seeking an interim Head of Transformation to support our operational leaders and managers, ensuring we harness positive practice, strengthen culture, and prepare services for sustainable growth.

Reporting to the Director of Quality & Operations, you will:

  • design and deliver a transformation plan that strengthens consistency and quality across Kent services
  • coach and support operational managers to lead confidently and compassionately
  • foster positive cultural change through engagement, collaboration and presence on the ground
  • embed new ways of working that prepare services for growth and ensure quality outcomes are evidenced

This is a visible, people-centred role that combines hands-on support for teams with the ability to influence strategically at senior levels. A regular physical presence in Kent is expected.

What we’re looking for

We are seeking a collaborative, values-led change leader with experience of delivering organisational culture and transformation programmes in complex environments. You will bring:

  • a strong track record in culture change and organisational transformation
  • expertise in coaching and supporting managers through times of challenge and growth
  • excellent stakeholder engagement skills, able to build trust and influence at all levels
  • resilience, flexibility and the confidence to both challenge and support constructively
  • understanding of the mental health, health or social care sectors (desirable but not essential if you bring relevant transformation expertise)

Why join us

This is a unique opportunity to bring fresh perspective, rigour and compassion to a high-impact interim role. You’ll be working with a committed team and organisation that is collaborative, caring and ambitious, with a real focus on people and communities.

If you are energised by leading change, supporting people to thrive, and making a meaningful difference, we would love to hear from you.
