This is an opportunity to join Refuge as an Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA) to supporting women and children who are impacted by domestic violence. You will work closely with victims of domestic abuse from the point of crisis, to provide high quality independent advocacy and support to survivors of domestic abuse at the highest risk and their children.

This post is restricted to women due to the nature of the role. The Occupational Requirement under Schedule 9 (part 1) of the Equality Act 2010 applies.

In order to attract and retain talent Hertfordshire County Council are funding a recruitment and retention allowance for this post. A taxable £2,000 payment will be offered upon successful completion of the 6 month probationary period. In order to qualify you must remain in post for one year, where service falls short of this the payment will be recoverable.

To be successful in this role you will have: 

• Previous experience working in a community setting, delivering information and training sessions, leading workshops or educational activities

• Experience as a qualified ASIST Trainer or willingness to gain qualification and experience 

• Experience of using own initiative and creativity to develop a project, programme or area of work

Job Title: Family Support Worker

Location: North London

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Family Support Worker to join our team and make a meaningful difference in the lives of families affected by domestic/sexual abuse. The ideal candidate will be committed to providing holistic support to mothers, children, and young people (CYP) during their time in refuge and as they transition into the community.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Developing and Delivering Services:

   • Provide personalised 1:1 family support services to families residing in the refuge, addressing the impact of domestic/sexual abuse on the family unit.
   • Collaborate in planning and delivering activities tailored to parents and CYP, including educational, leisure, and therapeutic services.
   • Facilitate the strengthening of parent-child relationships and empower families to enhance their resilience.

2. Assessment and Risk Management:

   • Conduct comprehensive assessments of families' needs and risks, utilising organisational assessment tools and evaluation methods.
   • Assess and promote parenting skills and children's needs while supporting safety planning for families.
   • Manage safeguarding incidents related to children in the refuge, liaising with relevant authorities as necessary.

3. Development of Early Years/Holiday Play Schemes:

   • Create inclusive and engaging play environments and sessions for CYP within the refuge.
   • Contribute to fundraising efforts to sustain and expand play schemes.
   • Provide supervision and guidance to volunteers and sessional workers involved in play sessions.

4. Integrated Working and Partnership:

   • Maintain accurate records of service users and utilize Solace's electronic database effectively.

As an experienced L&D professional, the post holder will focus on the learning and development of early career professionals, managers, and leaders, working across all departments and all levels of seniority. The role will focus on supporting talent mapping, succession planning, internal progression, mandatory training and driving the Trust’s commitment to the learning and development of our people, focusing on introducing a best-in-class apprenticeship programme for the conservation sector, as well as developing a Trust-wide coaching culture.

Driving the operational delivery of the L&D strategy, the role is responsible for embedding culture, values, performance, and impact through high-quality learning and development, working closely with the Head of People and Culture and with other Heads of Department to ensure a Trust-wide drive to become an ambitious learning organisation and employer of choice.

The People and Culture team is close-knit and collaborative encompassing HR, Volunteering, Culture and L&D. We have recently implemented a new and dynamic HR system, which will support the post holder in a number of their workstreams and deliverables. We work hard to ensure everyone at the Trust has a positive experience, with a strong culture, clear expectations, professional processes and procedures to support, and the required training and development to deliver their roles and grow in their career with us.

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for an Advocate to join our team covering Lincolnshire. Your role will require you to travel to locations such as hospitals and care homes across the area to meet with clients and professionals and be home based for administration; therefore, access to your own transportation and a suitable home internet connection is essential. 

This is a full-time role for 35 hours per week, applicants who do not hold an Independent Advocacy qualification will start on £22,500 per annum pro-rata.

About you

Desirably you will have some experience of working in advocacy, or providing welfare, supporting, or caring for Adults or young people who have support needs, ideally for those with a variety of communication needs, mental ill health, physical health issues, or barriers to accessing education and support.

You should have worked or volunteered in health, social care, welfare, support services, education or young person’s services, or advice and guidance.

Summary 

World Land Trust (WLT) is at the forefront of international conservation efforts through our programme of land purchase and land acquisition in collaboration with our international partners, including the development of carbon and other payments for ecosystem services projects. WLT is seeking a Technical Officer whose role will be to support our Conservation Programmes team, working closely with the Senior Technical Officer and Director of Conservation for the development and monitoring of conservation projects and communication of the organisation’s conservation impact.

Who we’re looking for

We are looking for applicants with an excellent knowledge of spatial and ecological data analyses, and monitoring and GIS will be essential for this role. Our preference is for a candidate with experience in fieldwork and biodiversity conservation. You will have good communication skills, be able to work independently as well as in close collaboration with colleagues and be able to translate technical reports and assessments to a wide range of audiences. You will be passionate about wildlife conservation and committed to furthering the mission and ethos of WLT.

Our Work Experience programme provides a taster of the ‘World of Work’ helping to raise career aspirations and support academic progression.  Our team work with local and central London employers and education providers and provide placements for over 5,000 young people each academic year.

• To secure, update and manage work experience placements.
• To handle telephone enquiries about the work experience programme, communicating with teachers, employers, parents and schools.
• To be a key point of contact for schools/educational establishments managing and overseeing the work experience process.
• To produce information and provide support to the Head of Work Experience and other team members.
• Completing one-to-one interviews with students with additional needs to ensure suitable placements are secured.
• Managing placements using a bespoke IT system.
