Job description

About Us

We are the largest sexual violence support provider in Wales, with 30 years’ experience of delivering specialist therapeutic support to adults and children affected by the trauma of rape, sexual assault or sexual abuse.

As a charitable organisation, we offer a full range of free specialist crisis, advocacy, wellbeing and counselling services. We are widely regarded throughout the UK as a leading organisation in our field. We support nearly 4,000 people each year.

Beyond that, we use our experience and expertise to train and educate others on the wide-ranging impact of rape and sexual abuse, and use our voice to advocate for those who are often silenced by stigma.

Main Tasks and Duties

  • Offer a welcoming and non-judgemental environment to all service users and visitors upon their arrival at the SARC.
  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team, for example liaising with the police and forensic medical examiners regarding the SARC process.
  • Provide confidential advocacy support for all clients accessing the SARC service in line with national guidelines, SARC best practice and contractual obligations.
  • Provide information to enable clients to make informed decisions in relation to the self-referral option, medical care, forensic examination, making a police report and onward referrals.
  • Ensure strategy discussions take place prior to the forensic examination with police, forensic doctor, paediatrician and any other relevant agencies to ensure the best care and outcome for the client, where appropriate.
  • Produce clear and accurate records for each referral and ensure its secure storage, and to accurately record information on client databases and case management systems.
  • Support the efficient collection of data for audit purposes.
  • Assist with the collection and storage of forensic samples, ensuring continuity and chain of evidence are maintained.
