The My Name’5 Doddie Foundation has a single, clear vision: a world free of Motor Neuron Disease (MND). The Director of Research is a key position in the organisation that leads our research activities, managing a small team as we invest in a prioritised and focused research portfolio. Working alongside the CEO and senior leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing a research strategy that fits seamlessly with the Foundation’s vision, ensuring we have the expertise and resources required to support our programme and initiatives.

As someone with experience working in a scientific research role, you will have the ability to interpret, analyse and utilise research findings and developments, with a deep understanding of the drug discovery and development landscape. You will be someone who constantly seeks out new research approaches, methodologies and funding models, ensuring that the Foundation remains at the forefront with its innovative practices. Knowledge of the research grants system is essential; we’re looking for someone who can hit the ground running. You will care about the impact of our work, developing an excellent understanding of the MND field and placing those living with MND at the heart of every decision you make, while ensuring all funded projects continue to meet our goals and financial requirements.

Strong communication skills are central to this role. The successful candidate will be comfortable demonstrating our expertise and position in the MND community and communicating developments, insights and critical milestones both internally and externally. Influencing and relationship building will come naturally to you, and you’ll be the kind of person who can work with diverse personalities from a wide variety of professional backgrounds. This is a critical senior role in the organisation, reporting to the CEO. The role is responsible for managing the organisation’s programmes across 3 locations in Sub Saharan Africa and South East Asia, managing 10 personnel. The position provides leadership on community-led investigations and evidence gathering and works closely with the Senior Management Team (SMT) on critical areas including fundraising and strategic development.   

The priority for this role is the safe and high quality performance of projects. The balance between ‘doing’ and ‘managing’ in this role varies depending on available resources for each project, and the ability to create competent teams to delegate to.
 

Location: UK, France or Thailand preferred. Remote applicants considered.

Package: Pay is dependent on location.  The UK salary of £62,000 plus pension contribution will be converted using ICSC scales. All locations receive 28 days annual leave, counselling support and annual wellbeing days.
 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

• The development and implementation of strategy and annual plans for the organisation’s direct programming, and its alignment with organisational strategy.
• Responsible for the relevant team’s human resources, staff welfare, safety and security, and risk management. 
• The safety and quality of operational practices including data collection on the ground, secure data storage and transfer and proper financial management of the project including procurement practices.

Programmes

• Design and oversee the relevant operations and project workplans, ensuring projects are delivered safely and to a high degree of quality.

• Provide ongoing support and mentoring to direct reports, including through the annual performance review process.

Rights & Security International (RSI) is seeking a Team Leader on International Civic Space to help us take our international work to the next level, especially in Latin America and East Africa. Role overview:

After two years of coalition-building with partners, we have developed a network of relationships with human rights activists and groups in El Salvador, Colombia, Brazil, Kenya, Indonesia, the Philippines and elsewhere. We are looking for a strong organiser and human rights advocate to continue building this network and help other groups organise to create impact.

We aim to facilitate civil society groups’ engagement with UN and regional human rights bodies, support grassroots-led research projects through small grants, and facilitate collaborations on shared advocacy projects.

This position reports to the Executive Director and supervises the work of the Eastern Africa Human Rights Assistant (EAHRA).

Person specification:

· Degree in law, human rights, public policy, international development or another relevant field.

· Fluency in spoken and written Spanish as well as English.

· A minimum of 4 years of experience in international human rights advocacy or relevant community organising, including at least some experience in building or leading coalitions.

The role:

The Head of Programmes is a wide-ranging and key role within the Smallwood Trust’s leadership structure working closely with the CEO, the Grants Team and the Board.

Important priorities for the Head of Programmes will include:

Working closely with the CEO to implement and operationalise Smallwood’s refreshed grant-making strategy which is due to be approved by the end of 2024. This will include budgeting and implementing/designing new grant processes and procedures where appropriate.

Shape and deliver an evaluation framework that enables us to more effectively track progress against our longer-term outcomes as identified in our theory of change and gender-lens framework.

Instill a learning and continuous improvement culture across the organisation, to ensure that a coherent approach is taken with our grants programmes and our funding meets the needs of our Grant Partners.

The role requires an established leader who is adept at demonstrating internal and external leadership and is able to provide robust grant management, ensuring programme quality and assurance to the CEO, the Board and major external funders.

The role will have 7 direct reports. Role description and purpose

The post-holder will be responsible for the successful leadership and management of CPA’s portfolio of programmes in line with the strategic direction set by the Council and Trustees. Reporting directly to the CEO, the post-holder will be a key member of the senior management team, leading the Programme/Project Management team and working with the Finance Manager, Communications Lead, Research Lead, Advisors and other key staff to develop and deliver CPA programmes across the Commonwealth and beyond. This will include strategic planning, project and team management, development of workplans and budgets, provision of leadership, good governance and oversight of all programme-related activities. This role will be responsible for engaging and working with external agencies, subject matter experts, and all relevant stakeholders to ensure the on-budget delivery of high-quality outputs across CPA’s portfolio of programmes. The post holder will also be required to work with other Leads and key staff across the organisation to scope and develop relationships with potential funders and support the creation of funding proposals for future programmes and workstreams, integrating their delivery into the overall programmes portfolio.

Key duties and responsibilities

Leadership and operational planning, management and oversight

• Collaborate with the Board, CEO and key staff to develop and advance the organisational strategic plan and goals and ensure programme areas align with strategic plan.

• Implement the strategic plan, integrating all aspects of the organisation’s work into programmes, including policy, advocacy, communications, product development, research and evaluation.

SAPHNA is a professional organisation and charity established in 2006. We are the voice of school and public health nurses across the UK, and the Crown Dependencies. Our mission is to achieve equality and excellence in school nursing practice leading to improved health outcomes and reduce health inequalities for all school aged children, young people and their families and communities.

We strive to take forward the Public Health agenda by working in partnerships to influence health, care policy, and support the workforce, for the benefit of children and young people and the communities where they live and learn.

The initial contract is 12 months fixed term with a view to extension. There will be a 3 month probational period.

24 hours per week, £33,000-35,000 pa, pro rata and depending on experience. Pension included.

The role is home based with ability and willingness to travel across UK when required. Flexible working hours to be agreed and to meet the needs of the organisation. Holiday allowance is 25 days per annum pro rata plus bank holidays.

Main Responsiblities: 

• Supporting the Professional Officer in managing finance, human resources, risk management, quality, operational change, board activities and business planning for the organisation.
• Providing programme management support for SAPHNA bidding, budget, invoicing, and contract management processes.
• To support the development and delivery of SAPHNA business planning and prioritisation, including horizon scanning and creating business cases and new opportunities for income generation. 
• To support the Professional Officer in ensuring all the organisations charitable obligations are met.
• To support the Professional Officer and SAPHNA team as required in any other related work- streams.
• Line manage the administrator assistant and have organisation oversight and governance responsibilities of the office based processes.

The Role

The Senior Administrator is a pivotal role within the organisation, responsible for overseeing and coordinating administrative functions to ensure smooth and efficient operations at TIIHQ.

The Senior Administrator will work to streamline processes, optimise workflow, and implement administrative policies. Key responsibilities include:

• The Senior Administrator to the CEO is to provide efficient and effective support, managing accurately the diary, travel and internal and external meeting arrangements as well as professional and confidential business administration for the CEO.
• Responsible for keeping accurate records in relation to Council members and matters including the administration of official papers to support the effective operation of the organisation. 
• Deal with incoming correspondence and enquiries with discretion and courtesy and produce confidential letters, reports, general documentation, electronic presentations, and review documentation as required.
• Lead the administrative support to ensure the smooth running of prescribed Institute services and activities as well as front-line response.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for TIIHQ facilities, including coordinating service agreements, maintenance requests, and vendor relationships.
• Acting as Secretary to prescribed Committees the Senior Administrator will liaise with the Chairs of those committees to set meeting dates, ensure that all documentation is provided to committee members in a timely fashion, arrange and be present at meetings to provide support and take the minutes of the meeting.
• To organise and administrate internal and external working group meetings and projects as required.
• Maintain and develop filing systems, operational procedures and technological solutions for the secure retention of information.
• Process and maintain accurate records using spreadsheets, various databases and software systems, and provide statistical information and reports as necessary.
• Responsible for accurate and up to date departmental web pages, listing key meeting dates, promotional information and any information relevant to the general public.
• Responsible for collating and sending information for email marketing campaigns as well as promotional literature for prescribed departments. 
• Initiate reports and documents of a confidential nature and other matters which require a significant degree of discretion to be exercised, including those of a budgetary nature.
• Assisting in the development of departmental budgets and monitoring  income and expenditure throughout the year.
• Work on own initiative to meet competing demands and to resolve problems.
• This role detail is a guide to the work you will be required to undertake. It may be changed from time to time to meet changing circumstances.
• Work positively and creatively to support the organisation, particularly during busy workloads when flexibility in working hours may be required.

Location

We all work from home, however travel and overnight stays are required as part of the role.  You'll attend around three symposia a year, which usually run from Mondays to Thursdays and are currently held in the Lake District.  You'll also attend up to three half-day meetings in London a year, which may require overnight stays depending on how far away from London you live.  The biennial prizegiving ceremony is also held in London. It would be helpful if you had a full UK driving licence and access to your own car.

The Role

The foundation is a registered charity which exists to improve the quality of life of people (children, young people and adults) with severe learning disabilities whose behaviour challenges and the families who support them.

We are currently looking for a Co-production & Engagement Lead to deliver a 3-year project funded by the National Lottery Community Fund.  Working closely with a small friendly staff team, and 3 regional family carers (specifically employed for this project), you will be responsible for developing 3 regional networks across England, sharing best practice locally and nationally, linking with the Challenging Behaviour – National Strategy Group, and ensuring co-production and family carer engagement is promoted and embedded as best practice.

About You

You will have up to date and relevant knowledge and/or experience of children’s and/or adult policy and practices (learning disabilities) across health, education and social care and be fully committed to working in co-production and supporting family carers to fully engage as partners in the process to achieve the best outcomes.

A proven project manager, who thinks strategically and has the ability to work with a range of stakeholders across multiple sites, You will need to be highly organised, skilled at project management, knowledgeable about current policy and practices, and a confident communicator adept at influencing a wide range of stakeholders.

The Challenging Behaviour Foundation was set up in 1997 by Vivien Cooper OBE, the parent of a child with severe learning disabilities who displayed a range of challenging behaviours. At the time, there was no support for families like Viv’s and no adequate provision to support her son – other than almost three hundred miles away!

Crucially, families remain at the heart of our work. As the Finance Manager your role is to help make this a reality through the effective management of our financial processes. You’ll use your experience from other charity finance roles, along with your accountancy / financial management qualifications, to help ensure our approach to financial management is effective, efficient, up-to-date and in line with charity accounting standards. 

You will be well-organised and motivated to support the wider team in their work. Reporting to the CEO and supporting the Treasurer, you will ensure we have up-to-date information on the financial health of the organisation. You will help to ensure we are maximising the use of restricted funding, and that money is spent in line with donors’ wishes. 

You will lead on ensuring we have robust organisational systems and processes in place for effective financial management. This includes the production and sharing of management accounts, ensuring payroll and invoices are paid on time, devising financial reports, and providing budgetary support. You’ll ensure that accurate records are maintained and that we are reporting our accounts in line with SORP guidelines. 

You will lead on the ongoing development and maintenance of our finance systems, policies and procedures, ensuring they are fit for purpose for a growing organisation.
