This is a unique opportunity for someone early in their career to gain experience across wide-ranging aspects of applied research at one of the UK's leading children's charities.

What will the job involve?

As Research and Evaluation Assistant you will play a pivotal part in the running of a dynamic research team. The role offers an essential grounding in managing research projects and processes. Your core responsibilities will include:

• Providing day-to-day administrative support to the Research and Evidence Team
• Monitoring the Research Review Clinic in-box and helping deal with enquiries from across the NSPCC
• Supporting the NSPCC Research Ethics Committee
• Coordinating project management, data collection and analysis
• Helping to produce research outputs including presentations and reports.

Through these activities you will learn about and get a chance to develop your skills in:

• Research ethics and safeguarding
• Research planning
• Evidence summaries
• Co-production and participatory research
• Research methods
• Fieldwork
• Analysis
• Research outputs/dissemination

 Are you keen to learn and do you love a challenge?

You will be working with departments across the NSPCC including Childline, Policy and Influencing, Schools services and Participation. Current projects with some of these teams include research on child safety online, sex and relationships education at secondary and primary levels, problematic sexual behaviour and loneliness, to name just a few. It's a great opportunity to gain insight into the varied work of the NSPCC and to learn from skilled and inspiring colleagues across a range of expertise.

Alongside all the “on the job” learning, you'll have access to the rich and varied learning and development opportunities within the Research and Evidence team and the wider NSPCC. It'll be a steep learning curve but an exciting and rewarding one.

We put children at the heart of our work and in line with the NSPCC's strategic goals, listen to and take their views and ideas into account wherever we can.

We're looking for someone who shares these values. Additionally, you will need to have strong written and verbal communication skills and be able to use your initiative in tackling a range of sometimes complex tasks. The ability to manage your own time and priorities is essential.  It's great if you have research experience and knowledge of child protection but, for the right person, we're happy to provide support and training where needed. What matters most is that you bring energy and enthusiasm plus a willingness to learn and a commitment to being part of a dedicated team.
