Your role

As Shop Manager at Scope's Huntingdon shop, you’ll have autonomy to run your shop using your creativity and flair to flourish in our retail environment. Our retail roles are full of variety, and every day is different! One day you might be  generating and processing stock and designing an eye-catching window display. The next day you might be recruiting and training our wonderful volunteers. Every day there will be a different challenge that you’ll find extremely rewarding. You will have relevant experience in retail but a great attitude and willingness to learn is just as important.

About you

As Shop Manager you’ll be passionate about retail and have a love of fashion with experience of running a shop, or you’ll be looking for a management role as the next step in your career. To be successful, you’ll need a commercial, can-do attitude and always put the customer’s needs first. You’ll be a dedicated team player with a strong work ethic, a great attention to detail, solid IT skills and a creative eye for displays. It’s important for you to know that Scope Charity Shops are open every day. So some weekend and Bank Holiday cover is needed. Our full time hours are 35 hours a week, working five days out of seven. Weekly hours for part-time vacancies are on a seven-day rota.

About the Mint House

Our aim at the Mint House is that restorative justice and practice become embedded within organisations and communities, being seen as a natural part of 'how we do things' across a range of settings.  We work towards this through events and communications designed to introduce restorative justice and practice to new audiences and share learning on effective practice, by providing training and support, through network building, thought leadership and practical projects. Among examples:

• helped by the appointment of a part-time communications officer in 2021 we now have a 500+ strong network of event participants and supporters from across sectors and extending round the globe (though with a sizeable Oxfordshire contingent).
• since 2021 we have trained over 200 managers and staff from Oxfordshire County Council's children's workforce (social workers, family support workers etc) in restorative practice, backing up training with reflective practice sessions and practical resources.  More recently, we have been providing similar training and support for colleagues in forensic mental health settings. We are an accredited training provider with the Restorative Justice Council.
• many of our events have a network-building dimension. We also specifically facilitate a network of UK-based colleagues working to create restorative communities and cities, and a network of communications specialists working in our field.
• with support from the Westhill Endowment, we recently hosted two sets of research and practice dialogues, bringing people from diverse backgrounds together to explore what’s involved in embedding restorative practice in organisations and communities.
• we are currently working with partners from across Oxford to pilot use of restorative approaches to reduce evictions of former rough sleepers from supported accommodation.

Training & Projects Officer role

Context

In 2023 we drew up a new strategy and business plan. This exercise underlined that the transformational change we want to see depends on us collaborating with many different organisations and communities, exploring with them what it means to be restorative in their context then working with them to make and learn from the changes needed.

Through our work so far we have encountered many potential collaboration partners.  Working alongside our part-time Communications and Events Officer your role as Training and Projects Officer will be to help us implement existing partnership projects and develop new ones. We have funding available to support this post for 12 months initially but aim to make the role sustainable as new projects come onstream.

We expect the role to be home based, but with a need to visit clients/project partners and attend meetings/events in Oxford or the surrounding area on a regular basis.  Wider travel to partner events/meetings may also be required from time to time.

Purpose

Support the delivery and further development of ‘on the ground' initiatives demonstrating the difference restorative justice and practice can make to building healthy relationships and promoting peace and reconciliation. As part of this, orchestrate delivery of training and support contracts.

Key responsibilities

a. Manage implementation of existing ‘on the ground’ projects, notably including our Matilda House trailblazer housing project.

b. Co-ordinate delivery of training and support, liaising with clients to understand delivery requirements and with in-house and associate trainers to confirm their availability.

c. Support the team of associate trainers, ensuring they are well prepared and supported, with access to continuing development and opportunities for reflective practice.

d. Ensure the quality of training, including ensuring the continuing development of materials and that training is tailored to the delivery setting. 

e. Work with trustees to shape and introduce new projects, including liaising with partners, drawing up project plans and budgets and laying the groundwork for new projects as they come onstream.  As part of this, and as time allows, input into funding applications

f. Monitor project and training delivery and spend, capturing learning and reporting as required to trustees and external funders.

g. Work closely with the Communications and Events Officer, supporting completion of key tasks as required.

h. Other duties as assigned by trustees.

The Community Energy Team Leader will lead and manage a team of Community Energy Advisers, delivering high-quality energy support sessions in local communities. The role involves empowering individuals and families through workshops and one-to-one support, with a focus on assisting those facing challenges with their energy needs.

The Community Energy Team Leader will oversee the planning, delivery, and evaluation of these services, ensuring they provide practical advice, support, and advocacy on energy conservation, switching providers, and accessing grants or benefits. 

Fixed term for 2 years, 35 hours per week.

The hours for this role will be varied over shift patterns from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday and may also include some Saturdays.

Location: Based at Here East Press Centre, 14 East Bay Lane, London, E15 2GW. 

The role will require travelling in the local area covering London and also East Anglia. The role also offers remote working around meetings and workshops.

The role 

In this role you will be:

• Leading, managing, and engaging a team of Community Energy Advisers, providing them with support, guidance, and direction to ensure the effective delivery of energy advice and support services. 
• Planning and overseeing the delivery of engaging and informative energy support workshops and one-to-one support sessions, tailoring content to meet the diverse needs of the community. 
• Collaborating with local organisations, stakeholders, and community members to identify needs and enhance the reach and impact of energy advice services. 
• Developing, distributing, and overseeing the creation of educational materials on energy saving, bill management, and renewable energy benefits. 
• Ensuring the team maintains up-to-date knowledge of energy sector developments, including legislation, grants, and energy conservation best practices. 
• Tracking, evaluating, and reporting on the impact of the team's activities, implementing strategies to improve outreach and support effectiveness.

About You

• You will have excellent communication skills both verbal and written to be able to support communities and individuals who would benefit most from energy advice and support. 
• You be able to plan and deliver engaging and informative energy support workshops within local communities, tailoring content to meet the diverse needs of attendees. 
• Showing empathy and being able to respond positively to change while being able to deal effectively with conflicting priorities will allow to succeed within this role. The service will help customers through their unfair extra costs and additional vulnerability to fuel poverty. 
• It is essential that you have a good working knowledge of IT including Microsoft Office Products and are confident user of digital technology demonstrating a positive approach to the adoption of innovative products and tools. You will be able to track and evaluate the impact of your community sessions and one-to-one interventions, adjusting strategies to improve outreach and support effectiveness. 
• You will bring drive and enthusiasm to your role and can demonstrate that you care passionately about improving the lives of disabled people and their families. It is desirable that you have a good knowledge of Energy and Utilities advice. If you do not already have the qualification, you will be trained to a Level 3 Award in Energy Awareness.

​Main purpose of the post 

We are seeking to appoint a Bids Manager with experience in managing the development and submissions process for successful research bids, to be part of a wider team that spearheads RUSI’s research fundraising efforts. Reporting to the Director, Research Business Development, the successful candidate will lead the process for preparing high-value bids, including drafting sections of the narrative and reviewing budgets, and be responsible for building central resources to improve and facilitate effective business development operations. This is a highly collaborative role that involves building very strong internal relationships at all levels of the organisation and with external stakeholders and skilfully managing competing priorities, personalities, and deadlines. We are seeking a team player with a pragmatic and positive attitude, who will enjoy learning about RUSI’s research areas and building stronger systems and processes to help us to make Business Development more efficient and successful.

​Key tasks 

• For UK Government, US Government, EU and Canadian Government bids, and bids over £100,000 value to RUSI:

• End-to-end project management of high-quality bids, including tender responses, funding applications and requests to participate. 

• Manage internal and external communications to ensure that the RUSI team, and partners, are aware of evaluation criteria, key themes, deadlines, and other critical information. Agree roles, responsibilities and timelines between key stakeholders.

• Compile and arrange high-quality and compelling bid language working with subject matter experts, draft responses to institutional questions, and offer quality assurance ahead of submission. 

• Review project budgets to be signed off by RUSI’s COO, ensuring that they are prepared consistently and in line with RUSI policies and funder requirements, working with RUSI research teams to achieve this. 

• Serve as the institutional point of contact for the key funders listed above – attend Early Market Engagements/supplier events, funder events, webinars, to ensure you are up to date on their priorities and RUSI is competitive with our bids. Maintain a centralised database and disseminate up-to-date information on each funder’s practices, key dates, preferences, upcoming opportunities etc. 

• For all other bids, review budgets for accuracy, competitiveness and to ensure costs are in line with RUSI’s policies and previous submissions, and, once finalised, seek approval from the COO.

• Work with the Director for Research Business Development, Research Directors and the Deputy Director General to identify and cultivate new relationships within each of the key funders, ensuring that we have good awareness of upcoming plans, expectations and priorities.

• Facilitate links to partner organisations (primes) and build and manage consortia-based relationships to ensure we have oversight of upcoming opportunities and are able to negotiate successful partnerships.

• Ensure use of best practice across research groups in our approach to bids and budgets, and that key documents, outcomes, research impact, and decisions are saved centrally for future use.

• With support from the BD team, develop and execute a plan to inform, train and mentor research and central services colleagues on best practice for bids, including a focus on wider business awareness.

• Respond to due diligence requests received by RUSI from research funders, ensure we have a central database of up-to-date policies and documents required to respond successfully and quickly. 

• Work with the Business Development team to build organisational systems and processes for effective BD, collaborate with BD colleagues to share feedback and ideas, support each other, and develop central projects to improve BD across the organisation. 

• Attend Business Development meetings with research groups and build strong relationships with project managers and project officers, capturing feedback and seeking input to BD processes and practices. 

• Manage the process for new funder approvals with the Deputy Director General. 

• Be a member of RUSI’s Research Committee and report on bid statuses and other relevant information when needed.

​Essential Skills and Experience:  

• An extensive track record of submitting high-quality research project proposals to the funders listed above, with a demonstrable success rate. 

• Able to produce clear, accurate and insightful written output, setting high standards and enhancing our external reputation through the production of strong bids. 

• Skilled at dealing with high-pressured situations with sensitivity and in a calm manner. 

• A track record of producing and reviewing small, medium, and large project budgets, often with specific funder requirements, and an understanding of how to develop competitive financial bids.

• Strong knowledge and awareness of common requirements for bid submissions, including statements on duty of care, quality assurance, supply chain management, gender, and diversity, equity, and inclusion. 

• Outstanding time management skills and a willingness to work flexibly, juggling shifting priorities and competing deadlines, while managing people’s expectations effectively with the support of the Director of Research Business Development.

• A good understanding of contractual matters and experience in resolving them. 

• Experience in training colleagues on best practice and developing associated materials. 

• Strong IT and Microsoft skills (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint) 

• Project management certification such as Prince 2.

• An interest in, and knowledge of, defence, security and geopolitics. 

• Experience in a Think Tank/Charity sector

Our client is a highly regarded International Development Organisation with a Head office based in Central London.  They are looking for an Interim HR & Operations Coordinator on a FTC basis until Mar / Apr 2025.

The HR & Operations Coordinator is accountable to the HR & Operations Manager and will work closely with the Finance team as well as senior management. In addition, this post has considerable interaction with members of the UK Head office and Country staff based overseas.

Main responsibilities

Human Resources

To be the first point of contact advising managers and staff including secondees on all general HR operational enquiries in adherence to company’s policies and procedures, legislation and best practice.

Supporting Senior Management on complex disciplinary, grievance, capability cases.

Coordinating recruitment campaigns and supporting the team in implementing the 2024 recruitment plans.

To support the learning and development function and needs arising from the appraisals process including the administration and co-ordination of internal training programmes.

To ensure HR Records are up to date, accurate and compliant with legislation including administration of the online system to record absence (sickness, holiday TOIL).

Provide departmental reports to the Senior Management Team when required.

Business Development Manager – Environmental Markets

Salary c£38,000 pa dependent on experience & skills – hybrid & flexible working, compressed or reduced hours considered

This role will develop that connection in the fast moving sector of Nature Finance, Business Development and Nature Based Solutions working with others who are creatively and systematically looking for solutions which will connect Surrey’s wildlife at a landscape level.

We are building an innovative new team focused on county wide recovery and green finance investment within the county of Surrey. This role will also manage the Trust’s internal and external processes around Nature (green) Finance and drive forward investment in nature at a landscape level.  

As a senior role reporting into the Director of Business Development and Partnerships; practical experience of green finance including biodiversity net gain is essential; experience will also need to include demonstrable examples of project managing medium/large scale projects, contract management, financial analysis and working in a fast paced environment.

Our challenge is to restore Surrey’s nature and maximise climate adaptation and resilience following Lawton’s approach for a bigger, better, more joined up ecological network.  We will do this both on our own land holding and by working with other landowners and managers in partnership as we strive towards a target of 30% of land connected and protected for nature by 2030.  We have the opportunity to embed a zero carbon, nature-based solution approach within economic recovery and landowner decision-making.

Location: Hybrid - Doncaster Complex Lives Team offices, in the community and home working

Following 5 successful years (2018-2023) of running Positive Pathways in Yorkshire and Middlesbrough, Church Urban Fund have partnered with Doncaster City Complex Lives Team – an alliance of  agencies working to deliver a highly integrated approach to support people who have become locked in a cycle of homelessness, rough sleeping, addiction, offending behaviour, poor physical and mental health - to continue our work to support people that have experienced Homelessness in the local area.

In this role, you'll provide vital housing support for those exiting homelessness, ensuring they maintain their tenancies. Collaborating closely with colleagues and services, you'll offer tailored assistance to help clients secure and sustain their tenancies. Responsibilities include facilitating engagement with services, maintaining support plans, and addressing barriers to progress. You will also contribute to exit plans and engage with clients on personal growth and community integration.

About the role
Save the Children has an ambitious strategy, which requires us to take and manage an appropriate level of risk, often in complex environments, in order to improve the lives of the most marginalised children and communities that we work with. We are a large, complex charity and risk touches every part of the organisation and all aspects of what we do.

This is a new role within our General Counsel's Division and you will work with a wide variety of specialist teams across SCUK (e.g., Safeguarding, Legal, Health & Safety) who investigate incidents reported through SCUK's incident reporting and case management IT system (IRCM system).

You will act as the product owner for the system and will be the main point of contact with the software provider, responsible for ensuring that the system is configured and operating effectively to meet business needs and ensure that we can maximise use of the incident data.

A key objective for this new role will be to develop insightful reports and dashboards that help us analyse and monitor incident data relating to key areas of risk in SCUK's work, for example safeguarding, fraud, and health and safety. The aim will be to develop reporting and analysis that can identify trends and root causes to help us learn from incidents and improve the ways in which we respond to risks.

Key accountabilities will include:

Act as Product owner of SCUK's incident reporting and case management IT system (IRCM system):

• Responsible for the overall management of the system and ensuring that it is configured and operating effectively;
• Collaborate with specialist teams (e.g. Safeguarding, Fraud, Health & Safety) to understand business needs, gathering feedback on issues and functionality requirements, and exploring solutions and improvements;
• Manage the relationships with the ICRM software provider, SCUK technology team, and specialist teams to support the ongoing use of the system and to coordinate system updates and improvements;
• Review how we are utilising the system and the current licensing arrangements and make recommendations to optimise efficiency and cost effectiveness;
• Ensure training and user guides are available for new users and communicate system functionality updates to all users;
• Maintain high standards of data protection compliance in the configuration and use of the system through the completion and maintenance of privacy impact assessments;
• Develop mechanisms to monitor data quality for consistency and accuracy.

Incident analysis and reporting:

• Use appropriate data analytical tools such as Excel and Power BI to enable regular analysis of incident data to detect and monitor trends, including the proactive identification of emerging areas of risk and their causes;
• Develop clear and user-friendly reporting formats, such as dashboards and trend analysis, tailored to different audiences, including the Executive Leadership Team, the Audit and Risk Committee, and specialist teams;
• Convert data into actionable intelligence that enables the organisation to learn from incidents and highlights areas for improvement.
   

Reporting and case management processes:

• Monitor data quality from incident reports and liaise with specialist teams and incident reporters to ensure information is accurate and complete;
• Carry out initial triage of new incident reports, ensuring they are allocated to the correct specialist teams;
• Ensure mechanisms for reporting incidents through the IRCM system continue to meet the needs of incident reporters and specialist teams, as well as the teams managing regulator and donor reporting requirements;
• Track timely progress of cases to closure in line with agreed protocols

Stakeholder communication:

• Develop a communications plan to promote awareness around incident reporting throughout the organisation and relevant external stakeholders
• Manage the incident reporting and case management Sharepoint site and intranet pages, ensuring the provision of helpful and up to date information about incident reporting and investigation processes and procedures
• Act as focal point for promoting awareness of incident reporting as an important part of protecting people and assets, and in doing so contribute to a culture of openness and learning;
• Coordinate regular meetings for system users from specialist teams to share IRCM system knowledge and best practice, discuss common issues, trouble-shoot and monitor case management Key Performance Indicators;
• Assist with the timely completion of incident reports for institutional donors such as FCDO and other relevant external agencies/regulators

About you
You will need to be self-motivated and proactive with the ability to work independently, whilst also enjoying teamwork and able to work collaboratively with a diverse range of internal stakeholders across SCUK in order to understand business needs and develop appropriate solutions.

As the key point of contact for system users, providing training and guidance, and managing user access you will have strong interpersonal and communication skills. You will also build awareness around incident reporting processes and responsibilities with staff and volunteers throughout SCUK, helping to ensure that reporting is integrated in all SCUK's programmes.

About the Role

In your role you will be responsible for developing, delivering and overseeing RSPB’s wider countryside conservation work and managing associated staff on the islands to ensure conservation of the many species and habitats of international importance and so ensure delivery of relevant outcomes of RSPB’s Saving Nature Strategy across Orkney. The role will lead, manage and develop the conservation team in the area, helping to deliver a work programme focused on our priority landscapes including some of Scotland’s rarest and most iconic species and habitats.

This will be achieved by using detailed knowledge and experience of the appropriate conservation toolkit to ensure we achieve our objectives. This may include site safeguard casework, species recovery work, land management advice, overseeing conservation projects and engagement in land use and marine policy.

This post will have a key role in instigating and managing programmes and projects across the Area and in association with RSPB colleagues. This includes those led by RSPB in the local area such as Species on the Edge and those where delivery is achieved across wider partnerships. You will be proactive with other island stakeholders to deliver ambitious targets for key marine, upland, wetland, peatland & farmland species and habitats. The position will have an important external role, building positive relationships with key partners and stakeholders so that RSPB’s policies and messages are understood and furthered within relevant partnerships and fora. As the conservation leader within the area team, you will contribute expertise to the Area management structures, monitoring and reporting on the work plan and development of new work plans and/or project ideas. You will also be expected to contribute expertise and experience to RSPB’s policy and advocacy work and contribute to the delivery of our funding and communications objectives, through communicating our conservation messages in various ways.

You will ensure we can identify threats to priority species and habitats and work with internal staff and external stakeholders to develop and implement projects, strategies and programmes of work to address these threats. You will lead on casework response in the islands and manage projects and internal budgets and staff. You will help shape where we carry out species recovery work across the islands and help spot out future opportunities to work on our key species and habitats. You will help shape and deliver the Orkney Local biodiversity action plan in partnership with stakeholders. You will liaise with our research, planning and policy colleagues to conserve our island wildlife
