Main Responsibilities
- To cover frontline duties, including accommodation, community and activities settings as needed, attending reliably and on time in order to ensure continuous cover.
- To act as a Duty Manager, including dealing with any staffing or other issues arising during periods of duty in accordance with set procedures.
- To provide an out-of-hours On Call service on a rota basis with two or three others, responding effectively to concerns. This will include finding cover in the case of sickness or other absence, or covering a shift at very short notice when no other cover is available.
- To take on appropriate administrative, leadership, reviewing or project duties including during periods of illness, leave and vacancies.
- To be accountable for delegated responsibilities appropriate to your experience, which are likely to include working with children and young people in individual or group settings, fundraising and communications work.
- To keep financial and other records as required.
- To contribute to the selection and induction of new staff and volunteers.
- To oversee minor and / or occasional staffing issues as required, and to take responsibility for particular staff and volunteers over longer periods.

Shooting Star Children’s Hospices are a leading children’s hospice charity caring for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families. We support families across Surrey and Southwest London from diagnosis to end of life and throughout bereavement with a range of nursing, practical, emotional and medical care.
At the heart of the hospice are our dedicated clinical staffs. Their exceptional commitment and professionalism is commented on by so many of the supported children and their families.
It costs £10.5 million a year to maintain our current level of care. Only 30% of that income comes from government funding via the NHS or local authorities, so we rely on our supporters’ generosity to keep the service running. Introduction
Retail and Volunteers Team: Our Retail and Volunteers Team manages our charity shops and volunteer programs, which play a crucial role in supporting our mission. They recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers to staff our shops and assist with various tasks, such as sorting donations and serving customers. Additionally, they oversee the operations of our retail outlets, ensuring that they are efficiently run to generate income for our hospices.
Part 1: Job Profile
a) Main purpose of job
In the absence of the manager or assistant managers to lead a team of volunteers to maximise sales, deliver excellent customer service and ensure that the shop premises and assets are maintained to a high standard, according to legal requirements and Shooting Star Children’s Hospices (SSCH) policies and procedures.
Decision Making Authority
The post holder will be required to make decisions on the quality, and suitability of donations before they are placed on sale. Depending on the length of the cover period they may be required to dress the windows. (They will follow price guidelines and existing display layout throughout the shop.)
The post holder will work with eCommerce Manager to decide if items would be suitable for selling at a higher price on eBay or through a promotional event and set these aside for the manager of the shop to deal with on their return.
The post holder will support with rostering of the team of volunteers where necessary and delegation of duties and jobs.

Part 2: Main duties and key responsibilities
a) Customer Service – 25%
• Dealing with customer queries and complaints courteously and effectively

• Ensure that any refunds are processed in line with SSCH refunds policy
• Ensure that the advertised trading hours of the shop are adhered to
• Ensure relevant documents are completed in the event of an incident/accident and reported accordingly
b) Processing donations – 25%
• Process all donations as soon as possible, prioritising Gift Aid and high value items
• Prepare and clean items appropriately for display
• Oversee the recycling and arranging of collections
• Promote Gift Aid is at all available opportunities
• Ensure that the ongoing need for donations is publicised
• Price and ticket all items according to pricing strategy for the shop and ensure that all pricing and ticketing complies with legislation
• Ensure that stock is properly managed and rotated in accordance with latest guidance
• Identify high value or specialist items that may need to be sold in another capacity
c) Merchandising, display and promotion of stock, maintenance of high standards throughout the shop – 20%

The Duty Worker will be working closely with survivors of domestic abuse and other VAWG (violence against women and girls) to provide high quality independent support to survivors at all risk levels and their children. The post holder will play a crucial role in the service delivery, being the first point of contact for survivors who are referred to the Gaia Centre by contacting the survivors, assessing their needs and risks, carrying out and implementing safety plans and needs and will ensure an effective handover to the relevant GAIA team for ongoing support or referring to another appropriate agency for support.
The duty worker will also empower survivors by providing them with emotional, practical, and personal welfare support. You will ensure that survivors are provided with a safe, supportive environment, enabling them to access their rights, make decisions and increase their life options.
The job involves working within a multi-agency framework consisting of the MARAC and local partnership protocols and procedures that prioritise the safety of survivors. The job involves informing survivors of the full range of civil, criminal and practical options that might increase their safety.

About the Felix Project
The Felix Project is London's biggest food redistribution charity and the largest end-to-end food redistribution charity in Europe.
Our vision is a London where no one goes hungry and good food is never wasted.
We rescue surplus food from businesses, supermarkets, restaurants and farms. This food is nutritious, in-date, and safe and includes a high proportion of fresh vegetables, fruit, meat and fish. If we did not rescue this food, it would be at risk of going to waste. Instead, we deliver it free of charge to London charities, schools, food banks, food hubs and other organisations serving people in need. Our food is a vital lifeline for children and families, people on low incomes, people who have lost their jobs, the homeless, refugees, domestic abuse survivors, the elderly and keyworkers.

Purpose of the Job
The Green Scheme operates point-to-point collection and delivery routes throughout the day and into the evenings (up until approx. 21:30). The purpose of this role will be to oversee out of hours routes in the evening, covering up until the latest route start time of 19:30.
The role will be involved in all aspects of co-ordination for Green Scheme operational activities. The role will be key in ensuring routes (predominantly evening routes) operate as smoothly as possible to ensure we deliver as much food as we are able to.
You will be a key contact for relevant partners on routes (volunteers, food suppliers, community organisations) and the main point of contact for out of hours routes. You will communicate changes and update all partners where necessary and provide support to volunteers undertaking routes to ensure they have a positive volunteer experience.

The Felix Project
The Felix Project is London's biggest food redistribution charity and the largest end-to-end food redistribution charity in Europe.
Our vision is a London where no one goes hungry and good food is never wasted.
We rescue surplus food from businesses, supermarkets, restaurants and farms. This food is nutritious, in-date, and safe and includes a high proportion of fresh vegetables, fruit, meat and fish. If we did not rescue this food, it would be at risk of going to waste. Instead, we deliver it free of charge to London charities, schools, food banks, food hubs and other organisations serving people in need. Role Overview
Over the past few years, The Felix Project has become increasingly focused on and committed to a better understanding of our impact as an organisation. We have developed an organizational Theory of Change and continue to build on an impact strategy to ensure that our approach to assessing, understanding and acting upon impact is robust and consistent.
We have worked with external consultants to make progress on this journey, and now have a full-time Impact, Evaluation and Reporting Manager in place. While we have particularly focused on understanding our social impact as an organisation, we are also passionate about our environmental impact. This is an important part of our dual mission, working towards a London where no food is wasted and no one goes hungry.
Establishing an Impact function at The Felix Project has caused our work in this area to develop and grow, creating the need for further resource. About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the MHA Fundraising department as the Legacy & Individual Giving Assistant.
