About the role
Are you a registered Health Care Professional with an interest in the early diagnosis of cancer looking for a new challenge and interested in working in the charitable sector? We have an exciting opportunity for you to join Macmillan’s Centre of Clinical Expertise.
During this two day a week six month role you will be leading on agreed pieces of work focused on the earlier diagnosis of cancer. The specific details of projects are to be confirmed but potential current projects include:
- Investigating ways to address the inequalities in the early diagnosis of bowel cancer
- Supporting Primary Care Teams to address the inequalities faced by under-represented populations in the earlier diagnosis of cancer
- The impact of co-morbidities on the earlier diagnosis of cancer, in particular in under-served populations.
You will bring insight, ideas, experience and thought leadership to the role to inform issues impacting on the earlier diagnosis of cancer with a focus on the impact of Health Inequalities.
About you
We are looking for a motivated and driven individual with evidence of management and clinical leadership experience and a strong interest in the earlier diagnosis of cancer, in particular for those with poorer outcomes. You will need to have good working knowledge of the current healthcare system and be a clinician with strong understanding of the issues impacting cancer diagnosis.

The CVAA Practice Programme delivers 30 or more online courses each year to those working in the sector, primarily social workers. The CEP team will focus on empowering clients to achieve socio-economic goals with clear mental health and wellbeing benefits, and team members will also have specific training in areas such as employment and housing to support the wider PSS service team. Lead Counsellor (Full-Time)
Reporting to the Project Director, the Lead Counsellor will be leading a team of up to 10 counsellors, overseeing the counselling service of the Ethnic Minority Well-being Centre, an initiative of the HKSAR Government.
The selected candidate will benefit from working in the collaborative and professional environment of a fast-growing Hong Kong NGO, engaging with a group of global mental health advisors as well as contributing to the betterment of Hong Kong community’s ethnic minority population.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the Ethnic Minority Well-Being Centre’s cases, protocols, supervision, administration and capacity building, including but not limited to the following:

Oversee all cases accepted by the Ethnic Minority Well-being Centre and ensure the counselling team are conducting counselling treatments according to the standard practices and protocols of the Centre.

IntoUniversity is an award winning charity that runs local learning centres in the heart of communities where the young people we support live.
Our centres provide an innovative education programme which includes: practical learning support, motivational and confidence-building activities for children and young people aged 7-18.
Our aim is to inspire students from the least advantaged neighbourhoods to broaden their horizons and achieve their full potential.
As the UK’s leading university access organisation, our staff team is helping thousands of young people each year. We currently have forty one centres and extension projects across England and Scotland. We have a number of new centres planned for 2023 to 2024, and ambitious plans to scale up our provision further over the coming years.

Salary: £25,500 per annum, rising to £27,400 per annum from 29th July 2024.
Working hours: Monday, Thursday from 09.30 to 18.00, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday: 0900 to 1730
