Service Support Officer
Full Time, flexible (34.5 hours per week)
Homebased (UK wide)
£21,000 - £23,000

Do you want a varied administration role that really makes a difference? Would you like to contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of Macmillan’s services? Do you pride yourself on delivering excellent customer service? If this sounds intriguing, we have a great role for you!

We are striving to do everything we can to ensure that our workforce is representative of the people we support, and those who support us. We advocate for being an inclusive organisation, where everyone can feel that they belong and where there are no barriers to success.

We offer a range of flexible working patterns, such as compressed hours, e.g. 34.5 hours in 4 days instead of 5, flexibility to work earlier or later around our core working hours of 10am-4pm and more options.

We have a range of permanent and fixed-term contracts available. The fixed-term contracts are for 12 months; 10 months and 6 months. Please state on the application form which contract you are interested in.

About the role:

Our team of Service Support Officers provide integral assistance which underpins Macmillan’s Services. The role is multi-faceted and the teams are organised so that each week you will focus on one of the following workstreams: finance; course management; data and IT, or volunteering and telephone buddies.

Your responsibilities will range from maintaining customer databases (CRM) and processing new Macmillan Professional appointments to collaborating with our Finance and Grants teams on invoice management and supporting our volunteering and telephone buddying service schemes.  The work is varied, but there is a structured training plan as well as on-going coaching from the team.

We work with a range of stakeholders, providing high-quality customer service and resolving enquiries in an accurate, timely and compliant way, to support Macmillan Professionals, volunteers and people living with cancer.

About you:

We are looking for individuals who are motivated to ensure the successful delivery of Macmillan’s services. You will have experience of working within an administrative, secretarial, customer service or financial setting. You can demonstrate relationship building and team working skills as well as an ability to work within an agreed set of processes.

An excellent verbal and written communicator, your customer service abilities mean you can manage challenging situations with senior internal and external contacts. You have good IT skills and proficiency with standard MS Office packages.

About Macmillan:

Team Macmillan is greater than the sum of its parts. The combined expertise of our employees, healthcare professionals, volunteers, partners and supporters make us a powerful force for good. Our values are at the heart of who we are and everything we do. They inspire our thinking and guide our action to ensure we are delivering the very best for people living with cancer.

At Macmillan, we understand how important it is that our workforce is representative of the people we support, and who support us. We particularly welcome applications from Disabled, Minority Ethnic and LGBTQ+ candidates. We strive to ensure that every individual is empowered to bring their best self to work, and that’s why we offer flexibility in our hours, and a range of benefits, to ensure we support you in your life and career ambitions. Macmillan have a great wellbeing offer to help you to do your best work, but also to get the most out of working here.

We commit to actively developing you and our benefits include private medical insurance, life assurance, pension, generous leave, and interest free loans for season tickets and gym membership.

Recruitment Process

The application deadline is 26 September 2021, with virtual interviews taking place the week commencing 11 October 2021.

In order to ensure fairness and consistency to select the best candidate for this role, all of our applications are anonymised up until an interview has been confirmed so that shortlisting is based solely upon the suitability of the candidate’s experience.
