Financial Accountant
We have an exciting opportunity for a Financial Accountant to manage the Financial Accounting Team at Parkinson’s and support the charity to deliver all the financial/statutory accounting and reconciliation processes.
About the role
You’ll be the financial accounting lead for Parkinson’s UK and support the directorate to improve the efficiency of processes using data and digital tools to drive those efficiencies and effectiveness across the organisation
You will deputise for the Senior Financial Accountant as required and be involved in the ongoing Finance Transformation.
What you’ll do
- Manage the financial accounting team which services the transactional accounting needs for the charity,
- Develop and manage a team of four Assistant Financial Accountants
- Support the annual statutory accounting process and year end audit process
- Responsibility for Balance Sheet reconciliation process for the Charity and Subsidiaries
- Oversee fixed asset additions and disposals ensuring that new additions are correctly coded within the system
What you’ll bring
- Strong people management skills and the ability to attract and retain talented people
- Proven experience in leading a financial accounting function, ensuring processes are improved to meet the changing needs of the charity
- Experience of overseeing a monthly payroll process including reporting to pension providers
- Knowledge of Charity SORP and VAT (including Partial Exemption)
- Experience of accounting for investments and administration of bank and investment mandates
- A CCAB (or equivalent) qualified or part qualified finalist who is actively studying

This role is hybrid and your in person working depends on your team agreement, requirements of the role and led by activity based principles. The in person/office attendance expectation for this role will be a minimum on average 1 days per week with flexibility, and further details of the Finance team agreement will be made available at the interview stage.
