THE ROLE:
We are seeking a Finance and Operations Manager to lead and strengthen our financial and operational functions as we continue to grow. This role is critical in ensuring that Open for Business adheres to best practices in financial management and reporting, including compliance with the Charity SORP.
You will serve as the main point of contact for our external accountants and our Financial Advisory Committee, providing timely and accurate financial information to the CEO and Board of Trustees.
On the operations side, you will help build and execute the organizational infrastructure needed to support our expansion, which includes office management and collaborating with our HR team to create a robust induction system for new staff, as well operational management or oversight of core processes.
We are looking for candidates who are passionate about tackling LGBTQ+ inequalities on a global scale and are eager to contribute to a dynamic and fast-growing organization. This UK-based role offers a hybrid working model, with time split between our London office and remote work. Remote candidates within the UK are also welcome to apply. Part time considered. The position reports directly to the Chief Executive.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage financial and operational systems, processes, administration, and internal controls.
- Ensure effective and efficient day-to-day business and financial operations.
- Oversee bank accounts, accounts payable and receivable functions, purchasing, financial reporting, and grants administration.
- Conduct bank and transaction reconciliations and manage expenses, bills, and payments using Xero.
- Produce or oversee production of monthly payroll.
- Produce quarterly management accounts and VAT returns.
- Collaborate with external accountants for annual audit and accounts.
- Liaise with other external advisors as needed.
- Prepare project-specific budgets and lead financial reporting for grants.
- Lead the induction process for new staff and consultants.
- Project manage the implementation of new systems, including coordination with consultants to deliver small-to-medium internal projects.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
The ideal candidate will be experienced with charity finances and may have worked in a similar role previously. You should be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
- Direct experience in managing a charity finance or operations function.
- Experience liaising with third party providers, including accountants.
- Proficiency in budget preparation and financial reporting.
- Experience with Xero and other accounting software.
- Experience with project management and leading internal change management
- Experience of bookkeeping and (management) accounting.

Financial Accountant
An exciting opportunity has arisen within Caxton Youth Organisation, a specialist youth charity, that empowers learning disabled and autistic young people aged 11-25 living in the London borough of Westminster.
We have a part-time, fully online/ remote role available to produce monthly management accounts, budgets and forecasts. The role requires good working knowledge and experience of Xero accounting software, as well as experience working with a small organisation.
We require someone to work 3-4 days a month. The working hours are flexible and would suit someone who may be re-entering the job market or is retiring, but looking for some additional work.
We have a Finance and Facilities Officer who is responsible for the day-to-day input of transactions into Xero, reconciling bank statements, producing invoices and remittance advice for grants and liaising with payroll. The payroll function is outsourced to CET Payroll. The unaudited financial statements are prepared by the independent examiner. The CEO is responsible for the financial management of the organisation.
Your role
The work would include:
- monthly preparation and posting of payroll journals
- reconciliation of the monthly accounts (including rectifying any discrepancies).
- monthly income and expenditure report and variance analysis
- monthly cashflow forecast on a cumulative basis
- processing of accruals and adjustment Production of quarterly and annual budgets and reforecasts
- Supporting the annual independent examinatio
- Meeting with the Treasurer, CEO and Finance and Facilities Officer as and when needed.
Successful candidate profile:
- Fully AAT qualified
- Minimum of 5 years experience of bookeeping
- Minimum of 2 years experience of using Xero Software
- Advanced Microsoft Excel user
- Strong experience of managing month end and year end processes
- Fluent English speaker with strong communication skills
- Experience working with a small organisation
- Ability to work independently

Ashinaga UK is seeking a driven and well-organised Partnerships Manager to propel our fundraising efforts, with the goal of advancing the Ashinaga Africa Initiative by securing funding to create new scholarships and opportunities for orphaned youth. This role will play a key part in expanding our impact and supporting the education and leadership development of young leaders from sub-Saharan Africa.
The Ashinaga movement was founded in Japan in the 1960s and has since expanded across the globe, empowering over 110,000 orphaned youth with access to education and support to achieve their full potential. The Ashinaga Africa Initiative was launched 10 years ago with the aim of equipping future leaders for Africa through undergraduate scholarships and leadership development opportunities. Ashinaga UK is proud to be part of this global movement, contributing to the mission of transforming lives and communities through education. Our work is primarily in the UK through collaboration with key university partners and donors.
The Partnerships Manager will be responsible for securing and building funding partnerships, overseeing external communications, and spearheading grant applications. The Partnerships Manager will work closely with the Managing Director.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with the Managing Director to develop and execute the fundraising strategy.
- Manage existing funding partnerships and establish new relationships to further Ashinaga UK’s mission.
- Secure partnerships with corporations, foundations, individual donors, and UK universities.
- Identify new funding opportunities, cultivate relationships, write proposals, and report on progress.
- Write high-quality grant proposals to secure funding from grant-making bodies.
- Oversee the partnerships database, donor reporting, and contribute to the annual Charity Commission trustee report.

- Secure and deliver a high volume of donor/prospect in-person touchpoints, involving Parkinson’s UK senior leadership in key relationships
- Deliver first-class stewardship by maximising engagement opportunities within our stewardship programme
- Manage the day-to-day activity of our fundraising board and secure new gifts through their networks
- Work with our Nurse Appeal senior volunteer donors to build your pipeline

What you’ll bring
- Demonstrable experience of successful major donor fundraising

Who we are looking for
We are seeking an individual located in South East of England, who possesses the drive, passion, and skills to:
- Develop new Peer Support Groups across a diverse range of communities
- Demonstrate the energy and enthusiasm required to achieve key targets and objectives
- Work collaboratively within the Peer Support and Community Team, as well as throughout the broader organisation, to ensure the development of safe and effective support services for the kinship community.
- Maintain current Peer Support Group levels, taking the lead from the national Hub.
- Maintain accurate records that are used to populate reports, identify learning and share key insights across Kinship that allow the organisation to continuously improve our services and products.
You should have experience in developing and maintaining meaningful relationships with various community-based stakeholders such as local authorities, health services, schools, charities, and kinship carers. You will need to understand the key success factors involved in establishing and developing new in-person groups in areas of high need, as well as how to support existing groups in their journey towards sustainability.
As a practical thinker, you will work creatively to identify stakeholders and assets in areas of high need. You will build local connections and bring together kinship carers across the region, empowering them to build resilient and robust peer support communities.
You will be confident in building relationships that generate referrals from external stakeholders and in contacting kinship carers directly to secure engagement with local coffee mornings, community, and training events that will help kick-start a thriving peer support group.
As you establish new groups, you will provide support and training to help them lead their groups effectively, and develop their group culture, resilience, and skills to function independently while offering reassurance and support to empower them.
We are ideally looking for candidates based close or within easy reach of our priority development areas in the South East of England which include; Reading, Oxfordshire, West Berkshire, Slough and Hampshire but also able to travel to locations along the M4 corridor.
An essential requirement of the role is to be a driver with access to a vehicle for work purposes.
Key responsibilities:
Service delivery:
- In-person (face-to-face) strategic outreach into local communities including setting up and attending local engagement events.
- Set up and develop sustainable in person peer support groups, initially attending and leading sessions in person before transition to self-sufficiency.
- Working with existing groups that are at risk, closed or need support that need replacing or rejuvenating to maintain DfE service level agreement, in addition to new groups. Targets are subject to change and are not fixed.
- Recruit and retain support group leaders to develop their peer support groups.
- Assist with the delivery of training to support group leaders and groups to become self-sufficient.
- Develop strong boundaries and positive relationships with support group leaders – building resilience, empowerment and community.
- Support established groups (including independent) in your area to access support group leader networks and training (this includes visiting groups in person) to build a peer community.
- Follow (and where appropriate support further development off) the service blueprint to develop sustainable peer support groups.
- Collaborate with the Peer Support Hub team to provide a joined-up and positive user experience for kinship carers.
- Manage special interest groups and regional online groups as required, transitioning to ‘Hub’ team for sustainability and work with partners.
Service quality, development and data management:
- Accurately record all recruitment, contact information and volunteer case management in Salesforce in line with service framework and data protection requirements.
- Ensure accurate data entry in Salesforce to support service performance, evaluation and learning.
- Provide regular reports to ensure targets and SLA are met for the service.
- Support continuous development and improvement of the service (new systems and processes) as required.

Knowledge, abilities, skills and experience (person spec):
Essential:
· Proven experience in reaching and establishing strong relationships with hidden or underserved communities in person.
· Significant experience developing peer support communities.
· Proven experience of recruiting, managing, training and supporting volunteers in community settings with an emphasis on understanding and working with vulnerable volunteers.
· Proven experience of ensuring outcomes and impacts of services are evidenced through high-quality data collection.
· Evidence of developing and delivering training/support to volunteers, based on the needs of service users (in this case kinship carers).
· Strong facilitation skills and essential experience of peer support or user-led groups with charity beneficiaries.
· Proven experience of using a customer relationship management system effectively (we use Salesforce).
· In-depth understanding of safeguarding particularly around vulnerable families.
· Excellent communication and engagement skills, with good attention to detail.
Desirable:
· Lived experience of kinship care.
· Understanding of children’s social care.
· Digital community building (Facebook / WhatsApp etc.).

As you establish new groups, you will provide support and training to help them lead their groups effectively, and develop their group culture, resilience, and skills to function independently while offering reassurance and support to empower them.

Service delivery:
- In-person (face-to-face) strategic outreach into local communities including setting up and attending local engagement events.
- Set up and develop sustainable in person peer support groups, initially attending and leading sessions in person before transition to self-sufficiency.

- Oversee a talented marketing and engagement team, providing leadership, direction, and fresh ideas to foster growth and deepen our connections.
- Act as a senior voice in the organisation, influencing decision-making and shaping the future direction of Trees for Cities.
About You
We are looking for an experienced marketing leader with a passion for the environment and community engagement. You will have a proven track record of developing and implementing successful digital engagement strategies, and experience leading creative campaigns that inspire action – this could be within a charity or a wider commercial setting. You will be an excellent communicator, capable of influencing at a senior level, and able to bring fresh perspectives to the organisation.

Last month, the Excellence Network moved to a new regional model in England and introduced the 7 newly-formed Parkinson’s Excellence Network (PEN) regions in England, with the boundaries aligned to the 7 NHS England regions. Click here to read more about the new model.
The regional model in the devolved nations remains the same: there are 3 regions in Scotland, 2 in Wales and 1 region in Northern Ireland.
To help us deliver this new regional model, we are gradually recruiting the consultancy services of Regional Clinical Leads in each of the 7 regions in England. So far, we have appointed 2 Regional Clinical Leads in the North West of England and in the North East and Yorkshire.
We currently have vacancies in the following regions in England:
- South West
- East of England
Who can apply?
Any UK-based healthcare professional, working in Parkinson’s or with an interest and expertise in the condition, with exceptional interpersonal and influencing skills. Healthcare professionals living with Parkinson’s are also encouraged to apply.
You’ll have a good understanding of the landscape of health and social care delivery, education and workforce development to support the strategic aims and objectives of Parkinson’s UK.
Time commitment: 0.5 days per week (1 programmed activity) to be worked flexibly across the month.
Remuneration: monthly rate based on skills and experience.
Term of consultancy services: 3 years from date of appointment, with an option to extend for a further 3 years. You can then re-apply for the role if you wish.

The Head of Finance is a pivotal role for the Trust, providing leadership in financial management and planning. You’ll also play a leading role in strategy and policy setting as part of the Senior Management Team and will lead a small team of staff and volunteers. You will work closely with our Honorary Treasurer, leading the Trust’s Finance & Resources Committee for the executive team. Ideally you will have experience in charity financial management.
You will be responsible for delivering the accounting and controls and the budgeting, forecasting, planning and analysis for the business. This role will have significant interaction with non-finance staff providing support and guidance.
We are looking for a qualified accountant with 5+ years PQE, who will lead the Finance Team. You will combine this with a positive and innovative attitude, constantly looking to improve performance and support our teams across the Trust. This a perfect role for someone who is excited by an opportunity to have the autonomy and breadth of role and to work with a team of staff and volunteers committed to nature’s recovery.
We are looking for a leader with a high technical knowledge and who is solutions-focussed and who has the desire and ability to inspire and guide colleagues across the Trust.
