About the role

We’re seeking a PPIE Manager to lead and strengthen patient involvement across mitochondrial disease research. As an equal partner in the LifeArc Centre for Rare Mitochondrial Diseases, The Lily Foundation leads the programme’s patient and public involvement strategy.

While the initial priority for this role is delivering the PPIE strategy for the LifeArc Centre, as a permanent member of the team, you’ll be responsible for building a sustainable involvement infrastructure that extends across all Lily Foundation research workstreams.

You’ll become a ‘patient expert’ who can bridge the gap between the patient community and the scientific world. You’ll be proactive in upskilling and empowering both patients and researchers, ensuring that lived experience remains the compass for future research.

Key responsibilities

• Lead LifeArc Centre delivery: Work closely with LifeArc leadership and researchers to embed meaningful patient involvement across research activities and work packages.
• Develop the IMPACT network: Grow and support our national patient involvement network, identifying opportunities for families to contribute to research design and documentation.
• Deliver training and capacity building: Develop and deliver training, guidance and workshops to upskill patients, families and researchers in effective PPIE practices.
• Translate and communicate research: Work with our Marketing Team to provide content for the promotion of research news and medical information through social platforms and web-based materials.
• Facilitate focus groups and webinars: Organise patient focus groups to develop a strong knowledge of community needs and lead our quarterly online ‘Zoom Room’ sessions.

Essential knowledge and skills

• Professional background: A background in science, nursing or research, with the proven ability to digest complex medical concepts and ‘translate’ them into accessible, jargon-free content.
• PPIE expertise: A deep understanding of Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement best practices and the different stages of the research cycle.
• Training and facilitation: Confidence in designing and delivering workshops or capacity-building activities for audiences ranging from families to senior researchers.
• Exceptional communication: Confidence in building relationships with families, senior academic leads and industry partners.
• Organisational drive: High levels of organisation and the ability to work independently to manage multiple priorities within a ‘small but mighty’ remote team.

Essential experience

About the job

The role of Families Project Worker involves supporting a caseload of families living in temporary accommodation. The role requires a combination of specialist knowledge and excellent relationship building skills to support residents with varying degrees of mental health, addiction and trauma related issues to engage with appropriate support, improve their experience of temporary accommodation and to access suitable housing solutions.

The role is dependent on excellent communication and joint working with colleagues and a variety of partners and professionals; including the NHS, Probation Service, local council services and other third sector organisations.

The role requires a high degree of motivation to support complex and vulnerable people, often in a lone-working situation. With a passion to work collaboratively with others for the good of our service users, and with some experience of working in a related field in a voluntary or paid capacity.

A high degree of emotional intelligence is required to support service users, many of whom have complex emotional needs, with backgrounds of trauma, neglect, abuse, crime and low self-worth. A role of this nature will experience a range of emotions from joy to grief and as such requires a high degree of resilience to cope with the emotional demands of the role.

Making decisions, “in the moment” to do the right thing to mitigate risk with service users can place high emotional demands on the job holder. The role is highly reactive, unpredictable and at times, chaotic. The role therefore requires a high degree of self-awareness to one’s own resilience levels and exercising appropriate levels of self-care.

This is a great opportunity to support local communities, working with Adult Carers and Young Adult Carers and helping them to make informed choices, build confidence, sustain their independence, and access support that meets their individual needs. You will carry out assessments to understand people’s individual circumstances and level of need, working together to co-produce support plans. This will involve meeting Carers in community settings and conducting home visits. The team also facilities coffee mornings and activities offering Carers opportunities for peer support and to take a break from caring.

You’ll build on your local knowledge to signpost and facilitate access for Carers to support services, including financial and benefit advice, housing, health and safety home systems, and leisure and social activities. You will support the development of escalation plans so that Carers are prepared for unforeseen circumstances that would impact negatively on ability to care.

We have full and part-time roles available (minimum 22.5 hours), and applicants should have relevant personal or professional experience of working with Carers and/or vulnerable adults in a relevant sector. It’s essential that you are confident using IT and maintaining excellent records. The role

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the Sussex Community Housing Hub team in providing technical advice and support to communities engaged in rural and community led housing projects.

Community-led housing involves local people playing a leading and lasting role in solving housing problems, creating genuinely affordable homes and strong communities.

You will be working in conjunction with other members of the Hub to help deliver quality affordable housing schemes that these communities are truly proud of.

This is a senior, externally facing post reporting to the Chief Executive. You'll manage a caseload of community-led housing projects, lead a small team of advisors, and work in partnership with communities, parish councils, housing associations, local authorities, landowners, and developers across East and West Sussex.

You'll also play a part in shaping Druv Homes, AirS's emerging housing association.

• Advising on site selection, RP partnerships, planning applications, S106 agreements, and funding strategies (both capital and revenue)

• At least 5 years' experience in affordable housing development

Director of Finance

Due to the retirement of the current post holder, we are seeking an experienced Finance Director to join the leadership team at Compton Care.

We are a large independent charity, specialising in palliative care, based in Wolverhampton. We provide specialist care to the people of Wolverhampton, Dudley, East Shropshire and South Staffordshire, caring for several thousand people every year in one of our two locations, or within our patients’ own homes. 

Considered to be a large hospice offering modern palliative services, we are partially funded by the NHS but in the main are supported by commercial and charitable giving.

The Finance Director’s post is an integral part of the Charity's senior management team, working closely with the Chief Executive, setting the strategic direction of the organisation and ensuring it has the financial systems and resources to implement its strategy.

We are looking for someone who ideally has previous Director level experience. In return this full-time position is being offered on a very senior management (VSM) salary of circa £88.5K.  We would also consider part time work for the right candidate. 

Compton also offers hybrid working, but expectations are that you would need to be in the office for 60% of your working week. .

You will be responsible for all aspects of Compton’s finances ensuring accurate and complete recording of all financial transactions, adherence to internal controls, procedures and all financial compliance standards. You will report to the Chief Executive and work closely with the leadership team and Board of Trustees, whilst managing the organisation’s Finance and IT teams.

Community Connector: The Role

The Community Connector will engage with a wide range of local trusted organisations (LTO’s) to activate the start of the cycling journey for adults and families. They will effectively communicate the aims and benefits of the project to LTOs/referral partners. They will advocate the benefits of cycling to the target audience, whilst recognising the barriers that people may face in participating. About the Hospice at Home team:

Palliative and end of life is about making every moment count. We support our clinical staff to make a real difference in these precious days through outstanding patient to carer ratios, giving you the time to build valued relationships with your patients, their families and friends.

Our Hospice at Home service brings the skills and expertise of our highly trained and dedicated specialist team directly into our patient’s homes. This gives patients, their families, and carers access to the vital support they need at home, when time matters most.

About the role:

We are looking for two experienced and versatile Clinical Nurse Specialists with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to join our Hospice at Home team.

You will work autonomously within defined protocols to facilitate and provide high quality specialist nursing care to our patients.  You will act as a specialist resource for other health and social care professionals on issues relating to specialist palliative care, responding to their identified requirements and initiating research and audit.

About you:

You will be motivated, a flexible thinker, and able to adapt to new ways of providing care to reach more patients within the community. You’ll have excellent communication skills and enjoy working alongside a multidisciplinary team to assess the needs of patients, families, and carers.

A relevant degree is required, and experience in palliative care or oncology is essential.

About Us:

At York Road Project, we are dedicated to transforming the lives of individuals experiencing homelessness in Woking. We believe in harnessing the unique strengths and potential of each individual to create a pathway towards stability and independence. We are seeking a Fundraising Officer to join our team who can support our Fundraising Manager to secure charitable income essential to the delivery of our services.

The Role:

As our Fundraising Officer, you will work closely with the Fundraising Manager to deliver our fundraising strategy. You will help deliver annual fundraising events; bid to corporate supporters, trusts and foundations; and build strong relationships with community organisations and individual donors. You will be part of a fantastic team, dedicated to making a real difference in defeating homelessness.

We are looking for a passionate and adaptable individual, who can support the Fundraising Manager across all voluntary income streams, from formal bids to fun community events.

This role is especially crucial as our charity’s need for fundraised income has risen significantly in the last three years - as result of the increased cost of living, and reduced support from the local authority. Despite these challenges, York Road Project’s work remains immensely valuable to the local community.
