We are seeking a successful candidate who will:

• Lead the financial accounting team of the RBL group to ensure compliance with statutory reporting requirements and tax.
• Lead the RBL’s transactional processing teams with focus on cash collection, treasury management, payroll and accounts payable.
• Lead the development of RBL’s Finance systems to drive productivity within Finance and the wider organisation.

As a Director of Financial Accounts you will also play a key role in:

• contributing to the three-year Strategic Plan with the emphasis on the financial framework and develop supporting strategies alongside an annual plan for the team
• overseeing medium term plans for delivery of the year end, audit and major projects with a typical timeframe of 6-12 months.
• maintaining a system of internal financial controls, policies, delegated authorities and procedures to safeguard Legion funds and ensure that funds are spent in line with charity law, applicable accounting standards and (where relevant) donor wishes
• overseeing the Business Processes function (including Payroll, Payables, Receivables and Cash & Banking), supporting the Head of Business Processes to devise and maintain appropriate processes and controls
• ensuring that business critical systems are appropriately supported and maintained, that risks are appropriately managed and that external suppliers deliver a good level of customer service.
• The breadth of the Royal British Legion’s activities and income streams mean that our accounts are highly complex and we are subject to a raft of external laws and regulation. JOB DESCRIPTION

Title of Post: Financial Assistant

Responsible to: Head of HR & Administration

Hours: 32 hours per week

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The main responsibility of this role is to assist the Head of Resources in the efficient and smooth running of financial functional activities of the charity.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Process and prepare financial and business forms for the purpose of checking account balances, facilitating purchases, etc.

2. Perform routine calculations to produce analyses and reports as requested by the Head of Resources and assisting in developing and maintaining all financial reporting within the charity.

3. Assisting in the preparation and maintenance of the charity’s annual income and expenditure budget.

4. Assisting in monthly bank reconciliations and other balance sheet accounts.

5. Dealing with finance related queries from staff, senior management, supporters, and suppliers.

6. Maintenance and reconciliation of direct debits, standing orders and other online donations.

7. Supporting the financial controller in the planning and preparation of statutory accounts and the annual audit.

8. Ensuring accurate gift aid records are maintained for supporters and conducting the annual gift aid claim.

9. Assisting in the maintenance of all accounting records on an ongoing basis to ensure:.

             a.   All income and expenditure are properly approved, banked and processed in a timely manner.

             b.   Monthly cash/cheque management and bank reconciliations are carried out and recorded.

10. Undertaking any other accounting duties that may be required and providing cover when other staff are absent.

About the role
As the Account Manager you will contribute to and effectively support our global programme partnerships work, to achieve Save the Children's strategic objectives.

The focus of the role will include extending Save the Children's relationships with development banks plus new initiatives such as impact investment and results-based project funding. You will support the Partnership Managers on a varied portfolio of cross-Save the Children partnerships as well as supporting with the management of cross Save the Children partnership management.

 About you

To be successful, it is important that you have:

• Skills in partnership management and market assessment in relation to overall positioning with partners.

Ways of Working:

We are recruiting an Operations Manager who will manage the volunteer, benefits support and data and communications projects as well as identifying and developing new service initiatives and projects. The post holder will also develop and implement a performance framework ensuring collection and interpretation of data from all sources, benchmarking, monitoring and evaluation to identify areas of improvement throughout the organisation.

Financial Reporting and Analysis:

1. Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports for senior leadership and trustees.

2. Analyse financial performance against budget and forecasts, providing variance explanations.

3. Provide a set of local reports to operational leads each month to enhance the quality of decision-making by the organisation’s staff.

4. Develop and implement financial reporting systems to enhance accuracy and efficiency.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

5. On behalf of the Senior Leadership team, lead the annual budgeting process, working closely with Operational Leads and Elected Officers to ensure realistic and achievable budgets.

6. Prepare financial forecasts to support strategic planning and decision-making.

7. Monitor budgetary compliance and provide timely updates to stakeholders.

Financial Planning and Strategy:

8. Lead on the development of long-term financial strategies to support the organisation's goals and objectives.

9. Conduct financial modelling and scenario analysis to support business planning, block grant discussions with the University, and external funding applications.

10.  Through the finance risk register and annual operational planning, identify financial risks and opportunities, offering strategic recommendations.

Payroll:

11.  To manage the payroll and ensure that payments and returns to the HMRC are completed as required, including monthly RTI.

12.  To ensure that all pension requirements are fulfilled in a timely manner.

Compliance and Audit:

13.  Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards, charity regulations, and internal policies.

14.  Liaise with external auditors and manage the annual audit process.

15.  Work with the University of Northampton to ensure that Northampton Students’ Union is complying with UON internal audit recommendations.

16.  Maintain accurate and comprehensive financial records.

Stakeholder Management:

17.  Collaborate with internal teams to provide financial insights and support.

18.  Communicate financial information effectively to non-financial stakeholders.

19.  Foster strong relationships with the University of Northampton and external partners regarding financial matters.

Team Leadership:

20.  Supervise and mentor junior finance staff, promoting professional development and a collaborative team environment.

21.  Contribute to the continuous improvement of financial processes and systems, ensuring accuracy and efficiency is prioritised.

As Senior Partnership Manager, you will be responsible for the development and delivery of one or more major strategic partnerships from the WWF portfolio. We will look to you to take a strategic approach to grow income, policy influence, programmatic impact and brand and communications reach. This will involve providing strategic oversight and guidance to your team in delivering their partnership portfolio, as well as collaborating with internal specialists to achieve partnership delivery and development objectives. You will ensure that effective partnership governance mechanisms are in place and activities are monitored, evaluated and reported too. Critical will be the ability to provide excellent partnership management and stewardship. You will also ensure the wider WWF network is aware of partnership achievements and updates to maximise our effectiveness.

To play your part in bringing our world back to life, you must have extensive experience of leading strategic partnerships and a good understanding of how charities / NGOs interface with the corporate sector. Used to engaging and networking at a senior level, you will possess excellent negotiation, influencing and diplomacy skills. You will have a firm understanding of conservation and sustainability issues and trends too. Corporate fundraising experience would be an advantage and in particular, experience of working with the FMCG and/or Food sectors.

Naturally warm and enthusiastic, you will also possess excellent networking, relationship-building communication and presentation skills. You will also be a strong project manager, who enjoys strategic planning and a collaborative working environment.
