Just Like Us is the LGBT+ young people’s charity and works with thousands of schools and young people across the UK through its programmes. The Ambassador programme is a key part of our work at Just Like Us.

This role will be key in ensuring that we have a growing community of LGBT+ young people aged 18-25 who volunteer with Just Like Us. We support them to:

• Use their voice: by delivering school talks, writing for the press and speaking on panels

• Develop their skills: through workshops and mentoring 

• Join a community: volunteer with hundred of other LGBT+ young people 

This role is critical to the delivery of this mission and will support the Head of Volunteering Programmes to meet the needs of our community of LGBT+ young people aged 18-25 and the schools that we work with.

This role will provide the successful candidate with a strong foundation for a career in the voluntary sector. We are looking for someone who is eager to learn, with strong organisational and administrative skills, and good communication skills to join a friendly, driven Programmes Team.

Unitas is a unique and vibrant youth centre with state-of-the-art facilities. It is at the heart of the Barnet community.

“Unitas” was named by local young people, and opened in summer 2019 as the second OnSide Youth Zone in London.

The Youth Zone is a purpose-built space fizzing with energy and crammed with incredible facilities. Since opening they have delivered life-changing support to help over 12,000 young people aged 8-19 (and up to 25 for young people with additional needs) from a diverse range of backgrounds to thrive.

The role.

This is an exciting role that sits on the senior leadership team with a significant amount of autonomy for an outstanding fundraiser and leader who is interested in further developing a fundraising function to eventually deliver c.£1.8m fundraising income per annum.

They are at a crucial stage in the evolution of their fundraising. Opened in 2019, our Youth Zone is founded on the OnSide funding model whereby the first four years of revenue is made possible primarily by major donors – Founder Patrons – who each committed a minimum of £25k pa for four years.

Now as they enter year five, they seek the continuation of this support and are in the initial stages of diversifying their income sources. They have also secured significant ringfenced funding to expand the fundraising team, and the incoming Director of Fundraising will have significant scope to shape the team around their vision and strategy. Successful achievement of goals and a sound strategy will allow for further growth in future years in order to sustain, diversify and enhance income.

We are searching for exceptional relationship fundraisers who excel when driving their own portfolio of high-value support and leading by example.

This is a strategic and hands-on role so we are looking for candidates who will relish working cross-organisationally on the SLT as well as coaching and supporting the team to deliver success.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated Trusts and Foundations Manager to join our team at Leeds Children’s Charity at Lineham Farm. 

This role is a new and important addition to the charity as we drive forward future developments, helping to brighten the lives of children throughout the city. As the Trust Fundraiser, you will be an essential member of the fundraising team, playing a pivotal role in identifying and capitalising on grant opportunities that will contribute to significant growth and long-term sustainability for the charity. This includes cultivating and managing a pipeline of potential funders, as well as staying alert about the external environment to identify new funding opportunities that align with the Charity’s mission and strategic priorities.

The charity has exciting projects, developments, and plans, and Trusts and Foundations will play a crucial role in achieving these objectives. The successful candidate will need to expertly manage the Grants and Trusts Management life cycle to meet predetermined fundraising income targets.

Main duties and responsibilities:

As Panel Chair you will be required to chair panel meetings monthly (or as required); meetings will take place in either of CFC’s main offices located in Gloucester and Lancaster.  We undertake a blended approach to our Panel’s; some are face to face whilst some remain on zoom.  Our preference is for Panels to take place face to face wherever possible. 

As a Panel Chair you will be expected to take responsibility to:

- Chair panel meetings (to include panel briefing), ensuring that all items of business are covered and that the panel operates in accordance with regulations and CFC’s policies and procedures

- Prepare for all panel meetings, reading papers thoroughly and identifying key issues and alerting the panel advisor if necessary, to ensure that the case is adequate for submission to panel.  

- Facilitate the active participation of all panel members in contributing to the panel’s consideration of cases and to the making of clear and well evidenced recommendations with the reasons for these.

- To address diversity issues and to promote anti-discriminatory practice at all times

- Ensure that clear and accurate minutes are written, which record the views of all panel members and to be involved in the checking and agreeing draft minutes with other panel members before they are sent to the agency decision maker

- To liaise with the ADM and other senior managers as required

- Ensure that the ADM and registered manager are aware of any areas of concern, in relation to individual cases and more general matters

- Be involved in the recruitment and appointment of central list members and in any consideration about terminating the appointment of a member

- Review, alongside the panel advisor, the performance of central list members as the need arises, and at least annually.

- Assist in developing, promoting and monitoring policies and procedures and high standards of work in fostering services in the agency.

- Assist in planning training for members and to participate in this at least one day a year

- Safeguarding the confidentiality of all panel papers and panel discussions

- Be involved in

o Whether a case is adequate for submission to panel (via panel briefing meeting)

o Deciding on the attendance of observers at panel

o Deciding on the participation of a panel members who declare an interest in the case

o Deciding when an extra panel maybe necessary

o The preparation of an annual report on the panel’s work

- Participation in Fostering Quality Assurance meetings (3 times a year), to support the agency monitor and review areas of practice across the fostering service, to include the panel’s performance.

Key requirements you should be aware of

· You must be able to travel effectively, the ability to Chair Panel meetings in both Lancaster and Gloucester will be a key requirement of this role.

· You must be experienced in chairing complex meetings, skilled and effective in chairing meetings in person and through video conference facilities.

Safeguarding

· Work with tenacity and courage in line with best practice to safeguard all children.  This will include, but is not restricted to:

o Quality assurance and monitoring fostering assessments and annual review reports as presented for Panel’s consideration, alerting the panel advisor and/or Registered Manager of any areas of concern

o Monitoring the safe practice of Foster Carers via the annual review process

o Working effectively within the Charities policies and structures and with other Agencies and Professionals.

o Ensuring effective communication with Children, Young people and Adults.

o Working effectively within the relevant local policies.

o Challenging ineffective or unsafe practice or decisions.

o Ensure adherence to the Health and Safety Policy.

Training

· Attend at least one panel training event per year as per regulations.

· Support the panel advisor in identifying training needs of panel members in line with their annual appraisal

· As an independent worker you must maintain and attend to your own training needs in accordance with Social Work England requirements if registered.

Due to service development, we have a fantastic opportunity for dedicated and enthusiastic Senior Supervising Keyworkers to join Barnardo's as part of the Greater Manchester Keyworking Service for Children and Young People (CYP) with Learning Disability and/or Autism. 

The keyworker role has 2 main functions:

1. Supporting children and young people with learning disabilities and young autistic people within their home or the setting where the child or young person is living or staying. Providing 1:1 support for the child or young person, and family. co-ordinating links with peers, community networks and other services, to secure the most appropriate provision to meet need now and in the future. The service tries to prevent avoidable admissions to hospital.

2. Understanding from the child or young person and their family experience, what supports a good family life and what gets in the way. This information will be shared in reports and at strategic meetings.. We currently have 4 full time posts available on a permanent contract. The service covers Greater Manchester and the service is split into 5 teams. Each team has a team manager that you will directly report to and work closely with.  The team offices are in Rochdale, Stockport, Salford, Manchester and Bolton.  As a Senior Supervising Keyworker, you will have knowledge, experience, passion, commitment and confidence to line manage and provide guidance to the team of keyworkers supporting CYP and families. This experience may have been gained in education, NHS services or social care roles through Statutory, Voluntary, Community, Social Enterprise or other providers. You will be part of the on-call rota system providing out of hours guidance, this averages one week in every 10 - 12 weeks for which there is an on-call payment.

The role provides lots of opportunities to develop your skill set, knowledge and career progression going forward. The service has a comprehensive training offer, and you will be supported by the management team within the service.

About the Role

Working within a small fundraising team, the Partnerships and Event Fundraiser will make a significant contribution to securing a legacy for thousands of local young people through the generation of new income. This income generation is broken into two programmes: the Community Fundraising programme and the SME Corporate Partnerships programme, both of which you'll be involved in. As Partnerships and Event Fundraiser, you'll be working across a number of projects and events to engage with businesses about creative ways in which they can support the Hive Youth Zone.

The Community programme will encourage the local community to fundraise for the Hive through approaching schools, groups, and associations, and recruiting participants for events. The SME Corporate Partnerships programme will encourage businesses to donate up to £1000 through initiatives such as Charity of the Year applications, staff fundraising initiatives, and recruiting support from smaller local businesses. You will also support and inspire existing corporate partners as part of your role.

About You

This role is a perfect opportunity for a fundraiser, with a proven track record of securing funds via community and corporate fundraising, to set up a new Community programme at the Hive. We are also very much open to candidates from a sales, marketing, and account management background, as well as candidates with events and projects experience. To be successful in this role, you will have experience meeting financial targets, and managing a pipeline of potential supporters/donors/clients.
