We are recruiting for a Head of Audit and Improvement job share partner to work up to 26 hours per week alongside our existing Head of Audit and Improvement. We can be flexible on days worked and this can be discussed at interview. This role will be mainly working from home with some occasional travel when required. 

In this role you will:

• Lead quality performance, supporting, advising and proactively identifying risk and areas for improvement in each Operational area including adult social care and educational programmes
• Provide oversight for quality frameworks and methodology ensuring currency according to social care or legislative changes.
• Lead a team to ensure the programme of improvement and quality assurance activities are delivered and performance expectations are met.
• Ensure accurate and meaningful information on aspects of quality performance is collated and analysed, to provide assurance and intelligence to help inform decision-making.
• Be an active and supportive member of the Senior leadership team, advising on issues relating to quality
• Design, implement and embed an audit and improvement programme across operational services
• Deputise on occasion for the Executive Director of Quality and Impact

Overview

The National Paralympic Heritage Trust (NPHT) has embarked on a new exciting five-year strategy – ‘Becoming Seamlessly Inclusive 2023-2028’. To help us on this journey, this is an exciting opportunity to join our team as the Trust’s ‘Volunteer and Trainee Support Officer’, a key role within our organisation. We are looking for someone who would enjoy supporting our volunteers and trainees and who can demonstrate good administration skills.

Background

Role of the Volunteer and Trainee Support Officer:

1. Overall

1.1 To support and develop the volunteer and work placement programmes.

1.2 To practically support two of our trainees with neurodiversity.

2. Key Responsibilities

2.1 To oversee the volunteer programme with support from the Head of Programmes.

2.2 To manage the ‘access to work’ programmes.

2.3 To act as a work coach to the trainees, helping them deliver their work plans.

2.4 To support the ‘Learning Manager and Collections Engagement Officer’ with the provision of volunteers for their programmes of work.

2.5 To support the work placement’s programme and individuals completing them, by planning out the work in liaison across the team and helping the ‘Head of Programmes’ carry out the work.

2.6 To support the Trust’s community liaison.

2.7 To support other programmes of work as directed.

3. Meetings and reporting

3.1 The ‘Volunteer and Trainee Support Officer’will be employed by the National Paralympic Heritage Trust and be responsible to the Board of Trustees.

3.2 The ‘Volunteer and Trainee Support Officer’ will report to, be managed and supported by the ‘Head of Programmes’.

3.3 The ‘Volunteer and Trainee Support Officer will have monthly meetings with the ‘Head of Programmes reporting on progress and raising any areas of concern.

4. Period of Contract

4.1 May 2024 to the end of April 2026.

5. Contract fee/Pay

5.1 The proposed fee is £25,000 a year pro-rata - three days a week (24 hours).

5.2 In addition to the payment outlined above the ‘Volunteer and Trainee Support Officer’ will be paid reasonable agreed expenses incurred subject to the supply of receipts/travel expense claim. The post holder will also be eligible for a stakeholder pension.

The Role 

This is a newly created opportunity for you to support all aspects of bid writing, grant applications, and responding to tenders at Best Beginnings. This will include collaborating with colleagues and partners to develop and execute engaging applications to a range of funders to support our work. 

You will be a confident writer, able to communicate the value of our work clearly and succinctly, ideally with previous experience writing and/or assisting with grant and bid proposals. Experience in the charity sector is not essential but highly desired. 

Working with the Head of Fundraising, you will focus on identifying new funding opportunities, planning approaches, gathering information, and writing high quality, compelling applications, to generate additional income for us to further develop our services. 

You will also be identifying appropriate funding sources for organisations we support, providing them with guidance on writing high quality applications, planning their year, and developing a suite of resources with the communications team to enable this. 

You will need experience of writing content and developing applications to large and small funding bodies. You will be able to evidence securing income and be skilled in presenting complex project information in a clear and engaging way. 

With exceptional communication skills (both written and verbal), a mind for collaboration in a team, scoping project potential, and facilitating team conversations to turn ideas into specific, actionable pathways for new and existing projects.

The role

The post of Project Coordinator is critical to the work we do and this is a great opportunity to make a real difference to improve health and care services and make them work better for the patients and local people of our city.

You will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of a variety of patient-focused projects on different topics, against quality, time and cost constraints. You will manage projects from inception to delivery including publicising, following up on any recommendations, and promoting the impact that we make. As we are a small team you will also be expected to contribute collectively to a shared workload to keep the team working effectively.

Some of the projects which Healthwatch Brighton and Hove projects have delivered in the last year include:

• Improving home care services
• Improving dementia services
• Improving maternity services
• Tackling health inequalities

We have a strong team of employees and volunteers and you will be supported by our Head of Research and CEO.

Work Location

Our office is at Community Base, 113 Queens Road, Brighton. We’re a home-based team, but hold team meetings at the office every Monday and you will be expected to work in the office on this day. There is also an option of office working on Thursday and hot-desking in either the office or Community Works’ office space on other days.

We will provide line management, technology and equipment support to enable home working. Applicants must be prepared to undertake this role in either form of work setting.

Main responsibilities and duties:

1. To be responsible for all aspects of planning and delivering a portfolio of time-limited projects. Typically, this will include:

• scoping evidence-backed projects which support our wider strategic aims
• contributing to written project plans
• Using Excel or SPSS to analyse data
• leading on undertaking service review fieldwork including interviews, ‘Enter and View’ visits (where we visit services in person) and Mystery Shops of our local hospitals
• supporting others e.g. volunteers and other members of the team to undertake fieldwork

• presenting findings at internal and external meetings
• delivering promotional and publicity materials to support projects

The Central Service Coordinator will ensure Gaddum delivers its organisational objectives by coordinating efficient and effective Human Resources, People and Central workstreams.  

The successful candidate will be reporting to the Head of Finance and working as part of a small but high performing team: They will be a key reference point for the organisation’s leaders to ensure those they manage have the best possible opportunities to thrive during the course of their employment at Gaddum. 

The postholder will be responsible for overseeing central systems and processes relating to organisation-wide People Services as required by the Senior Leadership Team and Trustee Board.

In October 2022 Salford City Council commissioned Salford CVS to undertake research into the strengths of the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector as part of their Joint Needs and Strengths Assessment.

Every three years since 2008, Salford CVS leads on State of the VCSE Sector research in Salford and also across Greater Manchester. Working with other local infrastructure organisations, we aim to provide a comprehensive overview of the VCSE sector. Our last research report was published in 2021 and we have started planning for the research to be conducted this year.

In August 2023 we further developed our VCSE sector research and insight work with the commencement of our Salford 99 longitudinal study. This research project is designed to understand the issues affecting the VCSE sector in Salford and aims to track 99 VCSE organisations every six months for a three-year period, so that we gain ‘live’ insight in between our three-yearly State of the VCSE sector large research project. Alongside this work we conduct a Pulse Check survey with a variety of VCSE organisations to get a snapshot of what is changing for them each quarter.

This exciting VCS Research and Insight role involves a combination of VCSE engagement and insight work across Salford.

About the role

This role will contribute to the achievement of the “Forest for the Future” and CAR programmes objectives by monitoring project implementation against objectives, providing comprehensive support to the L&L team, and directly supporting partner NGOs involved in the projects.

Person specifications

The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of and/or interest in forest governance and human rights, particularly in Central Africa. They should have experience and/or interest in providing project management support within a charitable organisation or in an international development context, as well as collaborating with local NGOs in developing countries. Additionally, they should have experience and/or interest in managing development project budgets, monitoring expenditure and processing payments.

Basic understanding of Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL), project work plans, and logical frameworks is necessary, along with proficiency in producing high-quality financial and narrative reports.

The candidate must demonstrate the capability to manage projects in accordance with the requirements of institutional donors and contribute to strategic project development, including project design and the creation of funding proposals.
Furthermore, the successful applicant must be fluent in both written and spoken English and French.

They should also be willing to undertake travel for up to 16 weeks per year, including visits to remote forest areas.

About this job

Please note this is a part-time role 3 days/or 21 hours per week (Fridays must be worked but the other 2 days per week are flexible). The role is initially for an 18 months fixed term contract.

As a key member of our Services and Support team, you’ll be working with MS Society volunteer groups that provide transport services to their members and/or own property. You’ll also be supporting members of the Customer Services team to help them fulfill their health and safety responsibilities within each of the MS Society’s offices. This role includes travel across the UK to provide support and/ or training as required.

You’ll be working with our external auditors to manage the audit process, monitor and record compliance with the ‘MS Society Health and Safety risk management framework’ on property and transport and ensure materials in the framework are consistently and effectively used.

We’re looking for the successful candidate to have:

• A NEBOSH National General Certificate
• Trained Display Screen Assessment Assessor
• Be a Member of Institute of Occupational Safety and Health
• Experience of working with in house Health and Safety systems that cover risk areas associated with a volunteer group network.
• Experience of working with volunteers.
• An in-depth up-to-date knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and practices, particularly as these relate to the voluntary sector.
• Experience of transport for people of all abilities run by the voluntary sector with a working knowledge of the related legislation.
• A working knowledge of the management of properties run by the voluntary sector.
• A working knowledge of DSE requirements and how to assess and apply them in a practical way.
• Knowledge of risk assessment, inspection and auditing procedures.
