Job purpose
The Place-based Food Systems Manager will play a leading role in the development of The Food Foundation’s local policy and project work in 3 interconnected ways:

1.  Stimulating and supporting leadership in regions, cities, local authority areas and anchor institutions to take action to improve local access to affordable, healthy and sustainable food
2. Identifying the policy and food business levers which enable the emergence of more resilient local food systems which improve access to affordable, healthy and sustainable food in local communities
3. Advocating for national and local policy changes which enable local leadership and new food systems to become more rapidly established.

In the first instance, you will play a leading role in our place-based work in Kent and Birmingham, in particular focused on improving the health and sustainability of menus and business offerings through the promotion of beans, pulses and legumes. You will work closely with Birmingham City Council and The University of Kent, as well as local leaders, partners,
local authorities, policymakers and businesses. You will work closely with academic partners on UKRI funded research projects that support place-based interventions and local authorities in creating healthier more sustainable local food systems.

The successful candidate will also play a key role in our nationally focused policy and advocacy on healthy and sustainable diets, supporting a team working on public sector procurement, production (horticulture) and other food policy areas that intersect health, sustainability and climate. This will involve engagement with relevant DEFRA teams, as well as other NGOs
working in the sustainable diet space.

The role will work across both the Policy and Food Business Transformation teams at The Food Foundation, as well as on the health and sustainability policy asks across the organisation. The unique placement of the role, working on place based initiatives as well as with national policy and businesses, will help to bridge the gap and identify areas of synergy between national and local policy, and between national and local policymakers, as well as the role and opportunity
for food businesses in this area.This is a new role in an exciting new team at the Food Foundation, with scope to work with us in shaping the role’s priorities in the coming months.

The Direct Marketing Executive will be working within the context of the Fundraising Strategy develop, manage and deliver a programme to drive new financials donors. They will leverage their Direct Mail experience to drive cash income across a range of channels including Email, Telemarketing and Paid Social. They will build email campaigns within our tech stack, ensuring thorough process as well as implementing tests and reporting back on results.

They are looking for a candidate with demonstrable experience in planning and delivering direct marketing fundraising or individual giving campaigns, such as direct mail appeals. They are looking for someone with a track record of implementing successful customer/donor journeys across all direct marketing channels. The ideal candidate will have experience managing paid social media campaigns.

In this role, you will:

·Lead on operational systems (HR, recruitment, volunteer processes, policies).

Role Details

• Position: Operations Coordinator
• Location: Remote. Travel required for in person team days 3 - 6 times a year and some travel across Oxfordshire.

About The Role

And we’re looking for an experienced Communications Officer to deliver creative communications that help inspire 1 million people to take action to protect, restore and create bigger, better, more connected wetlands.

This role will work across communications disciplines, flexing to support the team’s priorities. There will be a particular focus on dealing with reactive media enquiries through the WWT press office and identifying proactive and opportunistic PR coverage for WWT and wetlands. STEP aims to support refugees and others who have experienced forced migration to overcome the complex barriers they face in preparing for, and ultimately finding, work in the UK. We deliver STEP through both online and in-person programmes across the UK. Our work includes targeted support for women refugees, Afghan nationals, Ukrainians, and people who have come through the asylum system.

We now have an exciting opportunity for a Programme Officer, who will be central to the smooth delivery and coordination of the STEP In-Person Programme. Title: Human Resources Lead.

Employer: Norfolk Rivers Trust (NRT).

Location: Office at Bayfield near Holt with opportunity for flexible working. However, it is important that the role holder is able to build culture and employee experience and be demonstrably participative in office life and organisational culture development. Visits across Norfolk and surrounding catchments with mileage expenses £0.45 per mile.

Job term:  This is a permanent 0.6 FTE position. The appointment is subject to a six-month probationary period.

About the HR Lead role

As Norfolk Rivers Trust’s first dedicated HR professional, the HR Lead will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing effective people practices that align with the organisation’s culture, values, and strategic objectives. Collaborating closely with the Senior Management Team and Line Managers, the HR Lead will offer expert guidance and operational support across the entire employee lifecycle.

This standalone, hands-on position requires a proactive self-starter who is confident in establishing new processes and adaptable to the needs of a small but growing organisation. The role is diverse and dynamic, ranging from advising managers on complex employee matters, enhancing recruitment practices, updating policies, to leading wellbeing initiatives.

Above all, the HR Lead will be instrumental in nurturing the Trust’s positive, values-driven culture, making it an exceptional place to work. Acting as the central point of contact for all people related matters, the HR Lead will also support the Senior Management Team in developing and delivering a long-term people strategy.

Although standalone, access to an external professional HR sounding board, HR advice and link to employment law advice will be available.

Key duties and responsibilities

HR Policy and Compliance

• Develop, implement, monitor and maintain HR policies and procedures ensuring they comply with employment legislation and reflect best practice. 

• Ensure policies are communicated clearly and are accessible to all staff. 

• Regularly review policies to ensure alignment with the culture and strategic direction of the Trust. 

Employee Relations

• Provide guidance to managers on a range of employee relations matters including absence management, performance concerns, disciplinary and grievance processes, flexible working, and annual leave. 

• Ensure processes are legally compliant, fair, and consistent.

• Coordinate complex or sensitive employee relations casework in collaboration with line managers and external advisors where appropriate.

Line Manager Support

• Act as a key advisor to line managers, providing coaching, tools and resources to help them manage their teams effectively.

• Deliver training and guidance on key HR topics (e.g. performance management, recruitment best practice, probation and employee wellbeing).

Recruitment and Onboarding

• Manage the recruitment process, reviewing job descriptions, advertising vacancies, shortlisting applications, overseeing interview process.

• Ensure inclusive and equitable recruitment practices are followed. 

• Manage new starter onboarding, ensuring new starters have a positive and structured induction experience.

Employee Lifecycle Administration

• Oversee all HR administration, including issuing contracts, processing changes to employment and managing leavers. 

• Maintain accurate and up to date HR records and use NRT’s HR database to ensure compliance with data protection and GDPR requirements.

Performance and Development

• Coordinate the performance review process (including appraisal, probation and the annual staff survey), providing support to managers to ensure a consistent approach. 

• Develop and support the implementation of learning and development policy and initiatives, including career development plans and staff skills audits.

Systems and Payroll

· Implement and maintain a HR management system.

• Liaise with the Finance team to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, including salary changes, benefits and statutory deductions to administer payroll and payroll records.

 HR Data and Reporting

• Produce HR data and reports (e.g. staff turnover, absence, diversity data) to feed into the management team and use data to make recommendations regarding future practice.

• Use HR data to identify trends and make recommendations for improving people management practices. 

Strategic HR Support

• Participate in the implementation of specific projects, procedures, and guidelines to help align the workforce with the strategic goals of the organisation (e.g. workforce planning, reward, and staff engagement). 

• Promote and drive delivery of the Trust’s equity, diversity, and inclusion priorities, through advice monitoring and collaboration. 

• Work with Senior Management Team to contribute to and drive HR strategy development and implementation, including reward strategy, recruitment and selection strategies, talent and succession planning, alignment between HR strategy and business goals, supporting change management processes.

Health, Safety and Wellbeing

• Collaborate with designated health and safety leads to develop and implement systems and procedures to create a safe working environment, drawing on specialist advice as appropriate.

• Ensure HR-related policies and processes reflect the organisation’s duty of care to staff, including wellbeing initiatives and support systems.

We are seeking an experienced social media professional who will bring fresh thinking to our digital presence, testing new formats, platforms, and storytelling approaches.

This role will report into the Head of Communications.

This is a permanent role, for 5 days per week/35 hours per week. The salary for this position is £40,000 - £42,000

About the role

You’ll play a key role in a fast-paced volunteering team, which supports volunteering across the whole of Breast Cancer Now. You’ll be the first point of contact for volunteering enquiries, ensuring they are handled sensitively and efficiently over the phone and email.

You’ll also provide key administrative support to the volunteering team, assisting with survey design, advertising volunteering vacancies, and administration for training and events.

You’ll champion good record keeping and make sure all volunteering data is kept in top shape. You’ll be matching volunteers to opportunities that suit them, as well as using a range of online platforms to help recruit volunteers.

About you

This is a fixed-term role starting in October 2025 and ending in May 2026.

You’re enthusiastic, proactive and committed to providing excellent customer service. Detailed and person-focussed, you’ll really want to go the extra mile and can use your initiative to find solutions to enquiries. 

As well as being comfortable speaking and writing to a diverse range of people, you’ll have a head for detail. You’ll be as much at home working with databases and digital platforms as you’re with communicating with people over the phone and email. 

You’ll be committed to development, wanting to learn and grow as part of a high-performing volunteering team that’s passionate about making volunteering more accessible. 

You’ll ideally have some experience of working with or managing volunteers. But most important is your ability to work effectively with a range of people - whether that’s volunteers, colleagues, or supporters looking for a volunteer representative – to give them a great experience.

Primary location of role and hybrid working

The Community Fundraising Team is an integral part of the Charity Fundraising Portfolio, by supporting a diverse range of inspiring supporter led fundraising activities. It is an exciting time to join the Team, as we plan for 25/26.

You will be one our 6 Regional Community Fundraisers, based across the UK. Covering London & Central England, you will focus on our key audiences of Individuals, Supporter Groups, Community organisations, Regional Corporates & Volunteers. Through the provision of exceptional stewardship & fundraising support, you will engage the community, maximising opportunities to raise funds in the Region. You will make the most of your boundless energy & creativity to inspire our community and will be the regional driving force, ensuring our Supporter Groups continue to thrive, & our annual Community Fundraising Campaigns including, The Big Bake & Twilight Walk Own Walks are a success.

You will be passionate about the Role and in supporting the delivery of our strategic plans and objectives across the Region.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Developing & implementing a Regional Community Fundraising Strategy 25/26.
• Achieving agreed regional fundraising KPIs & contributing to the overall delivery of annual fundraising budgets and targets.
• Recruiting, building and maintaining relationships with the Community across the Region. Aiming to increase their fundraising and encourage their ongoing participation in events and activities. This may be through community fundraising or using our fundraising products or initiatives.
• Recruiting, training and managing a network of regional volunteers who will support activity in the Region.
• Working collaboratively across the wider Charity Team to identify fundraising opportunities & maximise income in the region.
• Keeping our CRM fully up to date with information about our supporters and their activities. Using that data to understand what motivates our supporters in order to provide excellent stewardship.
