When a child or young person is diagnosed with cancer, the impact reaches far beyond their medical treatment. At Young Lives vs Cancer, we help children, young people and families navigate the emotional and practical challenges cancer brings, ensuring they get the support they need when it matters most.

We're looking for a Community Engagement Practitioner to join our Research, Learning and Systems Change team.
Working as part of the North Star Cancer Collective, you'll help shape a new project focused on improving psychosocial support for young adults from the Global Majority affected by cancer and their loved ones. You'll build trusted relationships with communities, facilitate engagement and co-design activities, and help ensure lived experience drives meaningful change in cancer care.

We're looking for someone who is passionate about equity, community-led change and meaningful participation. You'll be a skilled relationship builder, confident communicator and collaborative partner, comfortable working across communities, charities and healthcare settings. We particularly welcome applications from candidates with lived experience of cancer and individuals from the Global Majority.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with Global Majority communities and partner organisations.
• Recruit and support young people and families to participate in engagement activities.
• Deliver workshops, listening events and co-design sessions.
• Gather insights and feedback to influence services and decision-making.
• Work with NHS, charity and community partners to improve culturally responsive support.
• Share learning, champion inclusion and contribute to project evaluation.

About the service 

We are a specialist team working within the Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) sector, committed to delivering trauma-informed, survivor-led support. Our services are shaped by the Women’s Aid Federation of England (WAFE) National Quality Standards and guided by the Domestic Abuse Act 2021, which recognises the impact of abuse on both adults and children. We work collaboratively to provide safe, inclusive, and empowering support that reflects the diverse experiences of survivors and promotes long-term recovery and independence.

Working in a busy sector you will be part of a frontline refuge team working in a fast paced environment supporting victims and survivors of domestic abuse. The team are passionate about creating safe welcoming environments that supports all residents, children and colleagues. A team who continually adapt to the variations of work tasks/environments, who are service focused, resilient, exercise good judgement to make the right decisions and take into consideration everyone’s individual needs to create a genuine team spirit.

• Although no formal qualifications are necessary a good level of spoken and written English is essential for this role.
• Proven experience providing emotional, practical, and welfare support to individuals affected by domestic abuse, including women, men, and children.
• Proven experience with adult and child safeguarding procedures and multi-agency risk assessment processes.
• Ability to support individuals in crisis with compassion and understanding.
• Non-judgmental attitude and active listening skills.

As a Domestic Abuse Practicioner within Safenet Preston Refuge team, your role will provide proactive practical and emotional support to victims and surviviors of domestic abuse. You will be on a six-week rota which will include day, evening and weekend shifts.

The role will provide a high quality and pro-active front line service to victims of domestic abuse helping to keep them safe. The role involves assessing risk, completing safety and support planning, and ensuring the service offer is accessible and inclusive to all.

Using your experience of delivering support or recovery services, you will provide high quality and pro-active front line service to victims of domestic abuse helping to keep them safe. You will be assessing risk, completing safety and support planning, and ensuring the service offer is accessible and inclusive to all.

About the Role

Allsorts Youth Project is looking for a Senior Practitioner to join our Youth and Education Service. This is an exciting opportunity to lead our youth coaching and schools programmes, supporting LGBTQ+ children and young people across Sussex.

Robertson Street is a 42-bed hostel that provides a safe place for people to stay while they plan their next move towards independent living. As the Deputy Hostel Manager, you'll be responsible for creating an environment where both residents and employees can thrive. Working across Mental Health Nursing services in Bristol, South Glos and Weston, you will be providing high levels of care for people who have severe and enduring mental health support needs and physical comorbidities. At times, there will be an expectation to work flexibly including weekends if the needs of the service require this.

Successful individuals will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be capable of problem solving and working well under pressure. You will need to be creative, flexible and able to work on your own initiative. Nurses will need to have a range of skills to meet the needs of the people we support and full induction, training and supervision will be offered.

Join Our Team as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner
Location: HMP Hull, East Yorkshire.

Rethink Mental Illness work alongside Tees, Esk and Wear Valley NHS Foundation Trust (TEWV) and Humber, Teaching NHS Foundation Trust to deliver an integrated stepped care mental health service within HMP Hull and Humber.

The team compromises a range of highly skilled professionals who work collaboratively to provide the highest quality of care, for those with mental health needs within the prison and for Rethink Mental Illness employees, this is carried out between 0800 – 1600 Monday to Friday. 

As we work across both sites, there may be some travel involved, but this will be done in work time and expenses paid to support service delivery.

What I will do and achieve:

Your work will make a real difference by helping people in prison take positive steps toward recovery and a better future. You’ll play a vital role in supporting mental health, reducing risk, and empowering individuals to manage their wellbeing.

In this role, you will:

• Assess and manage referrals – Accept referrals via agreed protocols, determine suitability, and ensure clients receive the right level of care, including stepping up treatment when necessary.

• Accredited PWP with BACP or BPS.
• Post-qualification experience delivering the full range of evidence-based IAPT low-intensity interventions at Step 2.
• Proven experience working within a stepped care service, supporting individuals with mental health problems and achieving recovery outcomes.
• Strong knowledge of assessment procedures, screening, referral processes, record-keeping, and evidence-based brief psychological interventions.
• Understanding and application of evidence-based psychological therapies relevant to this role.
• Ability to build effective therapeutic relationships and practice inclusively, respecting cultural diversity and individual beliefs.
• Commitment to an inclusive values base that promotes recovery and respects diversity.

Join Our Team as a Qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner
Location: HMP Full Sutton, York.

Rethink Mental Illness work alongside Tees, Esk and Wear Valley NHS Foundation Trust (TEWV) and Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust to deliver an integrated stepped care mental health service within HMP Full Sutton.

The team compromises a range of highly skilled professionals who work collaboratively to provide the highest quality of care, for those with mental health needs within the prison and for Rethink Mental Illness employees, this is carried out between 0800 – 1600 Monday to Friday. 

As we work across both sites, there may be some travel involved, but this will be done in work time and expenses paid to support service delivery.

*The applicant must have a full UK Driving Licence with access to a vehicle.

What I will do and achieve:

In this role, you will make a real difference by supporting individuals with mental health needs within a prison setting. Your work will focus on empowering recovery, delivering evidence-based interventions, and ensuring high standards of care.

What you’ll be doing:

• Manage referrals – Assess suitability of new referrals, following agreed protocols, and ensure clients receive the right level of care, including stepping up treatment when needed.
• Support recovery – Help people with mental health challenges to self-manage their recovery through person-centred assessments and risk evaluations.
• Deliver interventions – Provide low-intensity, evidence-based interventions such as Guided Self-Help and psycho-educational support, drawing on CBT principles.
• Collaborate and coordinate – Work closely with multi-disciplinary teams to maintain a stepped care approach and attend relevant meetings.
• Maintain high standards – Protect client confidentiality, record outcome measures, and ensure accurate clinical data entry in line with best practice.
• Build partnerships – Liaise with statutory and non-statutory agencies to support continuity of care upon release from prison.
• Meet service goals – Adhere to agreed activity targets to minimise waiting times and ensure accessible treatment delivery.
• Communicate effectively – Engage with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders in a clear and professional manner.
• Champion our values – Uphold the values of Rethink Mental Illness and represent the organisation positively at all times.
• Be flexible – Provide contingency cover for other prison sites when required.

Key Responsibilities and Commitments:

• Work in line with Prison Service policies and procedures, supporting relevant programmes and contributing to risk management and public protection.
• Comply with all legal and regulatory requirements, including the Data Protection Act 1998 and Health & Safety at Work Act 1974.
• Ensure accurate and secure management of all records in accordance with Data Management and Information Governance policies.
• Act in accordance with the charity’s Professional Boundaries, Safeguarding, and Health & Safety policies, reporting any concerns promptly to your line manager.
• Attend regular clinical and managerial supervision as agreed with your manager.
• Take responsibility for your own performance review, responding to agreed objectives and undertaking relevant training.
• Engage in personal development and supervision to enhance competencies and clinical practice.
• Maintain professional registration requirements and stay up to date with Department of Health guidelines and internal standards.
• Work within the charity’s national policies, local operating procedures, and those of external regulators or professional bodies.
• Promote Rethink Mental Illness by encouraging membership, donations, and activism.
• Undertake other reasonable duties and projects as required by your line manager, in line with the role and grade.

Essential Skills and Experience:

• Qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) through IAPT Low Intensity National Programme (e.g., Postgraduate Diploma in Psychological Therapies).
• Accredited with a recognised body (BACP or BPS).
• Experience delivering evidence-based low-intensity interventions at Step 2 within a stepped care model.
• Strong knowledge of assessment, screening, referral processes, record-keeping, and brief psychological interventions.
• Skilled in applying evidence-based psychological therapies and using clinical outcome measures.
• Ability to build inclusive, therapeutic relationships and respect diversity.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and confident with IT systems (Word, Excel, databases).
• Committed to professional development and constructive use of supervision.

About the Role

The resettlement team in South Yorkshire provides advice and support for resettled refugees to help them access services and mainstream provision and establish community links. Working closely with local stakeholders and in partnership with other voluntary sector agencies running similar services across the UK, the Refugee Council resettlement team promotes both the integration and independence of this group.

Alongside the resettlement team, the psychological therapy service team offers therapy to refugees presenting with mental health difficulties across both historical and future resettlement programmes. The service currently offers holistic psychological assessments and therapy to respond to clients referred to the service from Refugee Council and other local services working with resettled refugees. 

The Children and Families Wellbeing Project was established in 2019 to respond to the needs of refugee children/young people and their families who are experiencing mental health difficulties within a systemic approach. This specialist service is managed by the Refugee Council and led by the Strategic Migration partnership and is provided across Yorkshire and Humberside through a partnership of the Refugee Council and Solace.

As a Family therapist/Practitioner, the post holder will be working autonomously within the context of a multi-disciplinary team approach to deliver psychosocial therapeutic work with refugee children/young people and their families in South Yorkshire.

The postholder will work closely with the Sheffield Therapeutic Service for Resettled Refugees and work with children and families at home, as well as in community and educational settings.

Contract and Hours: Fixed term, part-time, 28 hours per week.
