About the role:

We began a contract with the Ministry of Justice in June 2021, delivering a pan London Housing Advice & Interventions Service, in partnership with St Mungo's. With Single Homeless Project staff co-located in probation offices, you will be working in close partnership with Probation Services, to support people on probation to either sustain their current accommodation or to secure new housing as needed. 

We are seeking people who could deliver housing advice, guidance and support to clients. Working with a caseload in your local designated boroughs, you will produce comprehensive and high-quality assessments on their support needs; particularly their housing, employment and financial needs and follow the most suitable pathway for them. 

We are also looking for people who are interested in working in this sector and with this client group.  We encourage applications from those, who are also at the beginning of their career path - graduates and those with transferrable skills & experience.

About you:

• Some understanding of working in supported housing or floating support services, with a demonstrable knowledge of Housing and other related Legislation or a relevant qualification

• Experience of managing complex and difficult situations in relation to vulnerable client group(s). 

• Ability to effectively liaise with a range of service providers or agencies in order to establish or improve services for clients. 

• An understanding of the principles underlying a quality service, and customer focused, with proven ability to empower service users.

You’ll be responsible, alongside our Head of Content, for producing our world-class lessons, with help from a supportive, collaborative team and a wealth of journalistic expertise from across The Economist Group. You will be a creative teacher, or ex-teacher, who is excited to turn the biggest issues in the news into engaging lessons for 10- to 16-year olds. You’ll research global topics and consider the best angles and innovative activities to produce a lesson every week. These lessons will build children’s essential skills and knowledge about the news through discussion-based activities. The activities will be inventive and varied and beyond your “usual” lesson planning. For example, they might involve students using QR codes to engage with unique multimedia content, a class debate in the style of a courtroom, or a bespoke game with prizes and challenges.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Create Topical Talk classroom resources for children (60%)

● Research and pitch lesson plans that cover the most important facts, arguments, perspectives and questions

● Write, edit and proofread teaching resources. Your core responsibility will be to create a weekly, 1-hour “Headlines” lesson

● Collaborate with journalists at The Economist to ensure all work is of the highest quality

● Work with our Graphic Designer on the look and feel of the content

Key Information

Role: The Operations Analyst will support our operations, events, executive and grantmaking teams by managing our office, coordinating meetings, setting meeting agendas, and supporting other operations processes within Longview.

Location: London, UK (working full-time from Longview’s East London office). We may be able to sponsor a UK work visa for this position.

Responsibilities

The Operations Analyst will support the Longview Philanthropy executive, grantmaking, operations, and events teams. Approximately 40% of their time will be spent on office management tasks and 60% on generalist-type operations tasks (depending on the successful candidate’s specific skills and professional development goals):

• Meeting preparation and coordination
  • Creating meeting agendas for senior staff (CEO, COO & Programme Leads) and sharing them ahead of time

Job description

We’re looking for a proactive and enthusiastic Senior Development Manager to identify new funding opportunities and develop high quality funding proposals that generate income for CSE’s work in line with CSE’s strategy and objectives. The successful candidate will nurture new and existing partner, client, and funder relationships.

Pay and conditions

• The role is full-time, 37.5 hours per week (minimum of 30 hours to be considered for the right candidate).
• The starting salary for the role will be grade H £41,802 - £50,071
• Flexible, hybrid working permitted for this role with a minimum of two to three working days presence in the office expected.

Specific responsibilities

An applicant appointed to the role will be expected to:

• Work effectively with others to develop funding proposals for CSE projects.
• Lead the response to competitive Invitations to Tender, which require a specific and timely response to a client’s brief and the ability to highlight and sell relevant CSE strengths and expertise.
• Support our development process by giving direction, supervision, and support to all contributing staff.
• Work with delivery teams and colleagues to set project budgets, costing work accurately using CSE’s development and financial tools.
• Ensure effective set up of new projects and facilitate the handover when a project bid has a successful outcome.
• Ensure appropriate quality checks are carried out on all proposals.

All CSE staff receive training and are given study time to complete the NEA City & Guilds in Energy Awareness.

Essential attributes for this role include:

• Minimum Maths and English GCSE
• Extensive experience in a project development or fundraising role with a proven track record of securing funding for projects or services.
• Familiarity with project management practices and systems.
• A commitment to CSEs work and charitable mission.
• The ability to construct clear and effective project proposals and tender documents.
• Strong communication skills.
• Good administrative skills with a strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Self-motivated with a flexible attitude and a proven ability to manage own time and multitask.

• A general understanding of sustainable energy, fuel poverty and climate change.

Based in York, the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine (IPEM) is an Educational Charity which acts as a Professional Body and Learned Society for a growing membership of more than 4,700 scientists, engineers and technologists working in hospitals, universities, and healthcare industries. 

IPEM is looking for an enthusiastic and proactive individual to form an important part of the team supporting our Professional Knowledge and Innovation Manager to lead on IPEM’s scientific initiatives. 

You will have an interest and aptitude for learning and be comfortable working in a demanding environment within a tight-knit team and interacting with professionals of differing and diverse backgrounds. You will be committed to delivering exceptional customer service. You will also need experience of modern IT systems and remote communication tools and be a flexible and willing collaborator. No prior knowledge of Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering or innovation is needed, however you must be committed to developing an overall understanding of the sector and sharing that knowledge with members and colleagues. Above all, you will be an enthusiastic supporter of professional knowledge and innovation with a passion for working with people and helping form IPEM’s scientific contributions to our members and to society.

You will be educated to at least A-Level, and preferably above, or have equivalent experience, with strong written and oral communications skills, strong organisational skills, excellent attention to detail and the flexibility to manage competing priorities.

You will be an important part of a growing professional community and will work with members to understand their current needs and challenges to both equip them with skills they require for future opportunities and challenges and assist the continuing professional development of the workforce.

IPEM promotes flexible working for staff. After 6 months of employment, IPEM will agree, where appropriate and at its discretion, to an employee working either permanently at home, regularly at home or from home on an ad-hoc basis.
