Development Manager

This is an exciting time to be joining Sidney and support the new senior leadership team’s ambitious plans for the future of the College and its students.

Working with the Development Director, the Development Manager will be responsible for all aspects of our regular giving and young alumni programme:

• Lead a sustainable and effective regular giving programme and increase participation across all year groups through campaigns such as Telethons and Giving Days, sourcing and securing match gifts as needed.
• Face to face fundraising and donor engagement of our small to mid-level donors; cultivating and raising gifts between £1,000 - £10,000 from alumni and friends, managing a pipeline of prospects and building relationships with existing and new prospects.
• Continue developing a student and young alumni programme that offers opportunities for networking and mentoring and encouraging fundraising participation among recent graduates.

Creative, impactful and results driven, this is an exciting opportunity for a talented project manager with an exemplary track record in a fundraising, marketing/communications, or sales.  This post will also suit someone who enjoys building relationships and working in a small team, while collaborating across departments, collegiate Cambridge and the University.

The Huntington's Disease Association is a UK registered charity that supports people affected by Huntington's disease across England and Wales. We provide information, advice and support to families, friends, and healthcare professionals.

We are looking for an experienced Volunteer Manager to support and inspire those who volunteer for the charity. You will lead them in line with the vision, mission and values of the charity and work to fulfil the goals of our strategic plan. You will strengthen our current volunteering strands with effective governance and great communication and will develop new volunteering opportunities within the charity.

You will manage our volunteer-led Branches and Support groups who offer peer support, fundraising opportunities and activities locally. You will also manage HD Voice, our panel of volunteers, who contribute to the internal development of the charity and ensure that the voice of the Huntington’s community is at the heart of research into the condition.

You will co-ordinate all aspects of the volunteer journey from recruitment, selection, induction, training and ongoing support and develop effective policies, procedures and guidance for volunteers as well as developing an effective monitoring and evaluation process.

We are looking for someone with strong volunteer management skills who has experience of training volunteers and of writing policies, procedures and guidance in line with data protection guidance. Also someone with great communication and relationship management skills who has experience of managing volunteers at all stages of their volunteer journey.   

There will be regular evening and weekend work as many of our volunteers work themselves so need the support out of office hours. There will be a need for travel across England and Wales.

As our ideal candidate, you bring experience working across a variety of corporate partnerships or relevant projects (e.g., in CSR/ESG), which could include strategic, commercial and charity of the year opportunities, as well as proven experience in managing cross-organisational projects, preferably with a focus on fundraising partnerships.

A self-starter with initiative and drive, you have a broad knowledge of corporate fundraising, experience of relationship management, and a proven track record of delivering creative solutions to overcome obstacles and enhance profitability. You think laterally with a commercial outlook, keeping up to date with sector trends.

Diplomatic and persuasive, with good planning and prioritisation skills, you are a strong relationship-builder and can influence a range of stakeholders to achieve outcomes for the BHF, as well as to understand and apply commercial and financial principles to improve performance.

Introduction to the role

As a Bid writer your role will be to help develop and sustain new and exciting projects that promote community wellbeing and tackle inequality. Working as part of the funding team you will be responsible for identifying and researching new opportunities, building strategic partnerships and writing strong funding applications

Main duties

1. Work with colleagues to scope new funding opportunities by scanning and cataloguing opportunity portals in line with our strategic aims and objectives
2. Identify suitable opportunities for bidding,
3. Produce high quality funding bids including writing and editing copy, collating case studies and other response material as appropriate
4. Ensure that deadlines are met and that submissions are managed in a timely way
5. Work as part of the funding team to regularly review and continuously improve processes around fundraising in the organisation
6. Develop strong working relationships with key stakeholders (internal and external)

We are looking for someone who can take a lead in supporting three of the four key functions of infrastructure and includes leadership & advocacy, partnerships & collaborations and capacity building for the sector.  These characterise the role of Thurrock CVS and help to support and strengthen locally based voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise organisations and showcase the strength and worth of the sector.

In addition to the support to the sector, you will manage a fund developed to support the sector, overseeing the administration and governance of the fund, and supporting a wider team in building relationships with businesses to drive the social responsibility agenda.

We are looking for someone with experience of working and developing the VCFSE sector, including organisational structures such as in incorporated charities, CIC’s etc, training, funding advice, policy guidance and general support around funding and grant applications

This is a demanding role and requires someone with tenacity and a real interest in people and social action. Superb communication skills are a must, at all levels, as well as a good understanding of an organisations development and structure.

About You

As our Philanthropy Manager (Trusts) you will play a pivotal role in cultivating, nurturing, and growing relationships with Trusts and Foundations. This role involves working collaboratively across Save the Children teams to develop compelling proposals, secure support, and create sustainable partnerships.

You will also be responsible for independently providing expert stewardship and management of a portfolio of donors as well as actively driving new business creating and securing partnerships that create lasting impact for children.

In this role, you will:

• Independently managing a portfolio of existing and new donors through a variety of personalised and creative approaches ensuring excellent stewardship and translating into increased income for Save the Children 
• Actively driving new business, working closely with key members of Save the Children's programming teams, the Trusts & Foundations Lead and other colleagues to identify and assess new prospects and to identify the most appropriate and impactful proposition to secure partnerships that create impact for children. 
• Developing networks amongst donors and prospects to promote Save the Children's work and grow opportunities for philanthropic gifts. 
• Working cross-departmentally to produce high quality written proposals, bids, concept notes and applications for donors.
• Working in collaboration with other colleagues to identify, design and execute new engagement events, opportunities, and products for potential and existing donors.

To be successful, it is important that you have:

• Experience of working in a fundraising environment or similar experience where comparable skills can be used to work with potential high-level funders and supporters.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to build relationships with, engage and influence a wide range of donors, and stakeholders (internal and external)
• Independent worker with the ability to plan, prioritise and manage a varied workload to meet deadlines, and pro-actively identify and pursue new opportunities.
• Project or partnership management skills including reporting, budgeting, meeting deadlines and working across multiple teams. 
• Problem solving skills and a flexible, creative and positive approach.
• Strong communication skills – both written and oral – with the ability to develop and deliver compelling propositions and stewardship communications. 
• A commitment to Save the Children's vision, mission and values.

Ways of Working:

 Business Manager - P/T– 26 hours per week

Dyscover is a small, specialist charity providing long term support and opportunities to adults with aphasia, a complex language disability. We are looking for an experienced Business Manager with a strong Fundraising and Marketing background to join our team.

· Experience raising income from a range of income streams particularly Trusts and Foundations also including skills in managing events, individual donors, legacy, corporate and community fundraising.

· Finance and Project management experience.

· Strategic development skills.

· Health, wellbeing, and disability experience within the sector would be ideal.

· Marketing experience; organisational promotion, digital, social media, website and branding. Health service marketing would be an advantage.

· Excellent interpersonal & communication skills with good disability awareness. 

Location: Office based in Leatherhead KT22 0BN with free car parking.

This is an essential management role within an expanding, unique and innovative organisation which strives towards being a centre of excellence for people with aphasia.

The UK Trauma Council (UKTC) is nationwide platform bringing together expertise in research, practice, policy, and lived experience in the field of childhood trauma. We are seeking a Programme Manager to work closely with UKTC Co-Directors to coordinate and oversee the entire programme of work.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience of leading complex projects involving multiple stakeholders.
