Your role

The new People and Culture Lead will be working closely with the Head of People and Culture to ensure recruitment, onboarding, employee reward, employment relations, learning and development and projects serve the long-term goals of CMS.

You are responsible for delivering professional HR service that supports that necessary operations, vision and strategy. This applies specifically to UK contracted staff (some of whom work overseas) and providing support for volunteers (including CMS Trustees) and consultants.

What you’ll need to succeed

The People and Culture Lead role (1-year, fixed term contract, 3 days per week) will require CIPD Level 5 accreditation and you will have proven HR experience at a Business Partner or Officer level which includes experience in recruitment, employee relations, policy and ideally Payroll.  You will have a good understanding of UK employment law and best HR practice.

It is also a requirement for this post holder to be a committed and practising Christian as well as committed to CMS’s values and aims.

Our residents may have multiple and complex needs which includes with their mental health, substance use, and physical health. About You

You will be able to build professional and trusting rapport with others, and work towards achieving positive outcomes, using a flexible and adaptable approach that recognises each individual’s unique and varied support needs. You will be motivated to help people overcome personal barriers and make a real difference to their lives, finding fulfilment in a role driven by a genuine commitment to supporting others. You will be able to remain calm, flexible, and positive when responding to challenging situations, and be motivated to support people to build resilience and independence. Experience in mental health or support work is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.

Gateway Mental Health is a 24 hour male only high and medium support accommodation service. Gateway is home for 28 customers from Lambeth and Southwark.

Support workers are vital members of the team as they provide support to customers helping them to develop the life-skills they require to move on to less supported accommodations or even independent living.
Support workers will work with customers to promote social inclusion and alongside other members of the team to promote independent living, encouraging customers to maximise their skills and choices, and achieve their goals

Overall Duties of the Senior Supervising Social Worker will include:

• Post qualifying experience in family placement work or post qualifying experience in other childcare settings.
• A proven track record in working with and on behalf of children, respecting and maintaining their individuality and promoting their positive development.
• Up to date knowledge of relevant legislation including the Fostering National Minimum Standards and Fostering regulations.
• Experience of working with/supporting looked after children and their foster carers.
• Thorough and consistent administrative and report writing skills plus excellent communication and relationship building skills.
• The skills to prioritise and work autonomously, against potentially conflicting deadlines with regard to regulatory requirements.
• The ability to support our foster carers and their families to achieve the best outcomes for the children in their care.
