Job description

Prospectus is delighted to be working with our client to recruit a Grants Officer.

Working within a small, collaborative team, this role will deliver proactive and responsive grant-making for the Foundation, Charity Trust and Foundation family foundations. Grant-making targets funding at organisations delivering meaningful change, with a particular focus on disadvantaged communities, education, social mobility and environmental conservation.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced grants professional looking to broaden their experience across the full grant-making lifecycle. The role offers genuine variety, combining proactive and responsive grant-making, trustee engagement, due diligence, relationship management, systems oversight and impact reporting. You'll work closely with highly engaged family trustees, developing trusted relationships with charities and playing a visible role in funding decisions.

We are looking for someone with experience of managing grants from initial enquiry or identification through to award, monitoring, evaluation and reporting. You will be confident assessing applications, conducting due diligence, preparing recommendations and presenting information in a clear and concise way to decision-makers. Experience of both proactive and responsive grant-making would be highly valued, alongside a strong understanding of the issues affecting disadvantaged children, young people and communities. Experience of environmental funding would be welcomed, although sector expertise is less important than a strong grants background and a genuine interest in the causes supported.

Given the size of the team, this role will suit someone who is proactive, organised and comfortable working with a high degree of autonomy, while also knowing when to seek support and collaborate with colleagues. Experience of working with trustees in a family foundation context would be particularly beneficial, as would familiarity with grants management systems such as Salesforce and a confidence in using technology to improve processes. Strong written communication skills, sound judgement and the ability to build positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders will be essential.

To apply, please submit your CV in the first instance. Prospectus will be reviewing applications on a rolling basis and will contact candidates whose experience closely matches the requirements of the role to request a tailored covering letter.

At Prospectus we invest in your journey as a candidate and are committed to supporting you with your application. We welcome all candidates to apply, regardless of age, sex/gender, disability, race, religion, sexual orientation, marital status or pregnancy/maternity.
