We are working with One Small Thing who are looking for an experienced Finance Manager with demonstrable skills within finance, the not-for-profit sector and housing to join their Hope Street team.
With offices in London and Southampton, One Small Thing is striving for positive change across the justice system by implementing small things in a big way. They provide gender responsive, trauma-informed programmes within the prison and community sectors that consider the individual caught in a cycle of crime and incarceration, with the aim of humanising their experiences.
One Small Thing has a commitment to systemic change for women and their children in the justice system, which has inspired them to build Hope Street, a brand-new, purpose-built residential community-based service, designed in collaboration with women, for justice-involved women and their children in Southampton, offering them access to education, practical and therapeutic support in safe, respectful trusting environment.
Responsible for ensuring financial controls, processes and systems are updated and effectively implemented, the Finance Manager will create accurate, regular reporting ensuring adequate financial forecasting, as well as ensuring that the organisation remains financially compliant, and they will be instrumental within the organisation in supporting scale and growth at Hope Street.
This is an exciting time for the charity and an excellent opportunity for a skilled Finance Manager who:
· Holds an acounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA) part or fully qualified or qualified by experience.
· Has strong budgeting/forecasting and at least two years financial & systems management experience, with experience of producing management accounts, budget planning and financial monitoring processes.
· Has experience of working in or with the not-for-profit sector and housing sector.
· Can demonstrate exceptional budgeting skills with experience of managing complex funding sources.
· Has highly developed interpersonal & team-working skills with a positive, flexible & can-do attitude, strong leadership & communication skills, with the ability to develop policies/procedures and convey complex financial control concepts to non-finance colleagues in both verbal and written format.
· Is resourceful, practical with an approach to problem-solving, with the ability to plan, prioritise and maintain efficiency during periods of pressure and high volume of work
You will have advanced knowledge of MS Excel, Sage Payroll software and of the benefits system, tax credits and universal credits.
Previous experience of the following would be an advantage, but is not essential as training can be provided:
· Knowledge of Charity accounts & SORP
· Knowledge of the Charity VAT landscape
· Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central

Senior Finance Executive
Duration: 3-Months Temporary

As a Senior Finance Executive, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial records during the year-end audit preparation process. Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare reconciliation schedules for accruals and pre-payments; reconciling deferred income; undertaking balance reconciliations and cash-flow forecasting.
* Reconcile the financial ledgers and ensure all accounting records are accurate and up to date.
* Assist with monthly bank reconciliations.
* Reconcile data between Sage 200 and other sources of information.
* Prepare supporting schedules in preparation for the year-end audit so that a first draft of the annual accounts can be prepared and reviewed with the Financial Controller.
* Prepare P11D's and PAYE Settlement Agreements, ensuring that the correct expenses are recorded and making payments where necessary to ensure compliance with HMRC regulations.
* Work closely with Finance Executive, Finance Assistant, and Finance Manager.
* Assist in additional tasks given by the Financial Controller.
Knowledge and Skills:
* The post holder must be part qualified accountant.
* Be proficient in the use of financial software packages (ideally Sage 200), customer relationship management databases, and Office.
* The post holder must be particularly skilled in the use of Excel - Vlookups, pivot tables, formulae including conditional formatting, tables, what if analysis, cell formatting.
* Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Have excellent organisational and time management skills and be able to prioritise effectively.
* Have an analytical mindset with the ability to identify and resolve complex issues.
* Have a strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy in the work output.
* Have a strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and audit procedures (ideally experience of preparation of year-end supporting documents).
* Ideally, the post holder will have experience of preparing VAT returns for partially exempt organisations.

Month-end tasks
Process supplier invoices and staff expenses and prepare weekly payment runs in Sage 50 Accounts software.
Send remittance advice to suppliers.
Import staff expenses transactions from Expense's into Sage and reconcile staff accounts to Purchase Ledger in Sage.
Reconcile supplier records within the Purchase Ledger ensuring it is accurate and up to date.
Working with the Database & Insights Officer, post monthly bank receipts and income journals to Sage 50.
Monthly reconciliation of bank, Stripe and PayPal accounts to bank statements.
Reconcile credit card statements monthly.
Prepare and post monthly prepayment journals to Sage.
Prepare monthly reconciliations of income in Sage against Fundraising figures, explaining any variances.

Reporting

About the role
As Financial Accountant, you will support the Head of Finance with the financial management of the charity.

- Maintain the charity’s fixed asset register, ensuring assets are recorded and depreciated according to the correct accounting policies
- Maintain and monitor all assigned control accounts, reconciling on a monthly basis as well as investigating and correcting any variance.
- Identify and implement process improvements in own role leading to greater efficiency and more time spent on value adding activity.
- Deputise for Head of Finance as and when required, taking on all associated responsibilities and duties.

About you:
- You will be a part-qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent) and actively studying to become qualified
- Charity experience is desirable but not essential
- Demonstrable experience owning the balance sheet
- Experience supporting or producing statutory accounts
- Experience within other Financial accounting positions
- Good knowledge and understanding of transactional finance
- Management experience is desirable but not essential

What’s on offer:
- A competitive Salary - £37,000 - £42,000 (Depending on experience)

The Individual Giving Manager will be responsible for reaching new supporters, developing and implementing engaging and innovative marketing activities that attract a range of new donors for the charity. They will use a variety of channels including digital, face-to-face and DRTV, and work with teams across the charity to ensure the impact of all activity is maximised.
Key responsibilities include:
- Working with the Head of Individual Giving and Legacies create and review plans to deliver strategies within agreed income and cost thresholds, generating sustainable year on year growth.
- Working with the finance business partner prepare financial business cases to drive the development of the supporter acquisition strategy. Make the case for new fundraising methods with clear understanding of ROI, supporter acquisition cost, and channel payback models.
- Monitor performance against budget: ensure financial targets are met, monitor any shortfalls, and take remedial action as necessary.
- Experience of Individual Giving and acquisition programmes.
- Manage agency and supplier relationships - including with creative agencies, list brokers, media buyers, fulfilment houses and external professional fundraising organisations - to deliver agreed plans and campaigns.

Location:Office at Bank, with occasional off-site visits
Salary: £39,000 plus generous benefits package
Contract: 15-month FTC (maternity cover)
Hours: Full-time, 32.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
As Assistant Housing Manager you will be responsible for the delivery of operational efficiency across the Company's six residential sites and services for 206 residents, including leasehold. Your role will be to provide excellent customer service to residents and work to ensure that each site is safe, secure and compliant with regulatory requirements.
You will also support the development and implementation of new systems and processes and provide guidance on Housing policies and procedures. You will work closely with the finance team to manage rental income and invoice payment and will deputise in the absence of the Housing Manager.
The successful candidate will have some experience in property management (ideally) and will possess excellent customer service and administration skills, and proficiency in IT.
