Key Responsibilities:

· Work closely with the Supporter Marketing and Public Fundraising Unit to jointly plan how we are going to deliver our strategic priorities on an annual basis and align our resources behind this

· Develop effective processes to review, plan and prioritise cross-organisation activities, events and goals to create and evaluate integrated communications calendars and messaging

· Establish and manage cross-organisational planning documents, aligning and optimising key outputs and campaigns to increase our consistency, efficacy and impact

· Lead the Directorate to understand and assign priority levels across our portfolio of products, campaigns and change initiatives, to enable increased alignment and focus of teams around strategic goals – leading to increased success and impact

· Develop integrated strategies for Plan International UK’s priority campaigns or appeals, as agreed in the planning process and with the Head of Supporter Marketing and Public Fundraising

· Create compelling campaign themes and propositions driven by brand and audience insight

· Develop effective, integrated briefs for marketing and communications output, and work with the Content Team and external suppliers to deliver outstanding creative work that fits the brief and needs of our audiences

· Manage the mobilisation of key working groups in the delivery of an emergency appeal and support the Director of Fundraising and Supporter Engagement to make rapid and clear decisions

· Work alongside the Digital and Data Strategy Team to regularly review and refresh our audience segmentation and strategy

· Establish an audience-centric communications culture, driven by up-to-date insights on our priority audience groups and their behaviours, attitudes and values

· Conduct thorough market research and analysis to identify target audiences, trends, and opportunities for integrated marketing campaigns. Utilise insights from market research to inform campaign strategies and messaging

Person Specification:

· Strategic marketing planning experience, developing and leading multi-year customer communication plans, prioritising key initiatives and ensuring integrated campaign delivery across teams

· Significant experience of using data and insights to inform planning, and knowledge of a range of reporting and measurement tools

· Exceptional inter-personal and consultative skills, with experience of working with multiple stakeholders and a proven ability to work collaboratively to influence, negotiate and secure buy-in 

· Knowledge of full campaign process from planning to briefing, creative development and production through to execution and measurement

· Excellent knowledge of audience research, analysis and segmentation tools and processes 

· Ability to multi-task and prioritise under pressure, in a fast paced, dynamic communications environment

· Experience of working in insight, new product development, and proposition development, ideally within the charity sector, and able to demonstrate having made a positive difference for other brand(s) through impactful and effective proposition development

· Strong creative leadership and experience of translating a brand proposition for different channels, executions and campaigns

You will have demonstrable experience of nurturing and developing the skillset and capability within your team, and will enjoy coaching and mentoring. In addition to managing the marketing and communications function on a day to day basis you will also bring the experience to support more strategically and have the gravitas and confidence to influence senior level stakeholders. Experience of working in the not for profit or the environmental sector is not essential to this role, however experience of supporting a fundraising function with marketing and communications would be beneficial.

This project is funded by the Nature Networks Programme. The Heritage Fund is delivering it on behalf of the Welsh Government. 

Do you want to be part of a team leading the field in the development of private investment into nature’s recovery? 

In the past 18 months, The Trusts have been developing new approaches to funding nature’s recovery from the private sector, utilising novel revenue approaches such as nutrient neutrality credits and the voluntary carbon market amongst others. They have developed finance mechanisms to sit alongside these revenue streams such as a philanthropic loan system. They now want to scale up this work to help The Trusts and others to scale nature’s recovery across Wales. They need to turn policy into strong principles that allows us to develop guidelines and templates to help the Trusts across Wales access green finance. 

Our client need dedicated expertise and capacity to work with the Trusts to bring this work into a coherent strategy, develop models and plans that build revenues for nature’s recovery allowing much greater investment. This post is designed to provide that expertise and capacity to work alongside those Trust staff that are already committed to developing these programmes. 

Our client is the central charity which supports the federation of 46 independent Trusts working for nature’s recovery across the UK, Alderney and the Isle of Man. The Trusts’ vision is of a thriving natural world, with abundant wildlife and healthy natural habitats playing a valued role in addressing the climate and ecological emergencies, and everyone inspired to take action for nature’s recovery. 

Collectively, The Trusts have more than 900,000 members, employ 3,500 staff, look after over 2,300 nature reserves, operate 123 visitor and education centres and own 29 working farms. The role of the trust is to ensure a strong voice for wildlife at a UK level and to provide strategic leadership, support and development for The Trusts. They provide shared expertise in areas such as climate change, digital fundraising, nature-based solutions, policy and safeguarding. They facilitate UK-wide communities of practice to share learning and replicate successful approaches so that together they are more than the sum of their parts. They support the individual Trusts to be a strong force for nature in their local areas and to work together to achieve even greater impact as a collective. 

The Trusts are on a mission to bring about a people-powered nature and climate recovery by empowering people to take meaningful action for nature, and to create an inclusive society where nature matters to everyone, everywhere. They are ambitious in their desire not just to slow, but to reverse the declines in nature. Together they have developed a bold, new collective strategy which outlines their vision and the actions they will take to restore nature over the next eight years.

Goal 1 is to put nature into recovery with abundant, diverse wildlife and natural processes creating wilder land and seascapes where people and nature thrive. Achieving these ambitious objectives means that they must develop new ways of working which increase the scale and impact of their work. Therefore, they have embarked on a programme of strategic transformations that are essential to achieving their goals, and which will result in a stronger and more effective Trust movement for the long term. They are leading the transformation programme across The Trusts including in community organising, equality, diversity and inclusion, and funding nature’s recovery. The Trusts have existed for over 100 years thanks to a strong membership base and traditional fundraising activities. 

Now, to achieve the level of funding needed to reverse nature’s decline, they need to diversify and increase their income by exploring new ways of funding such as innovative finance. 

About You 

You will be from a commercial background within private, public or charitable sector. You will have an entrepreneurial approach grounded by great commercial experience. They would expect an understanding of the green finance marketplace and that you are comfortable with legal and contract management. You will be a great communicator, with a personable style who can work with many different people across the wonderful variety of geography, business development, and activities of the Trusts. 

You relish challenging the status quo and problem solving. This is a new and ambitious role which will evolve following your appointment so you should be excited by the flexibility and opportunities to take an innovative approach.

Understanding the principles of prospect research in a fundraising or sales setting will be essential.

The role raises unrestricted income from individuals by planning and executing the day-to-day campaigns to recruit, engage and retain supporters.

Key responsibilities will include;

• Creating, planning, delivering and evaluating multi-channel, insight-led, supporter-centric campaigns. This will include both acquisition and retention campaigns.
• Managing production of supporter material, including email acquisition & retention campaigns, social media posts, website content, print advertising, direct mail and inserts.
• Working collaboratively with internal stakeholders and liaise with external agencies and suppliers to effectively deliver projects and campaigns.
• Working with colleagues to identify individual stories that can be crafted into impactful content for use in contribution marketing campaigns.
• Innovation - Manage a continuous cycle of testing new channels and developing acquisition and retention for individual giving, based on audience insight and sector trends.

The successful candidate will have experience of; 

• income generation from direct marketing campaigns (acquisition and/or retention) across a variety of offline and digital channels
• effective campaign copy writing
• project management to deliver acquisition or retention campaigns
• using databases for targeting, segmentation, testing and response analysis and how to apply these learnings to future campaigns
• managing and monitoring external suppliers and agencies

This position can be either a hybrid role if commutable to the North London Head Office OR remote for candidates based across the UK who want to work from home.

This role will provide donation processing support across the organisation and contribute to tasks across the wider team to ensure an excellent donor engagement experience.
As the Data Assistant, you will manage end-to-end payment processes, including manual data entry, Direct Debit and card payments. Working accurately and efficiently, you will import and transfer data into the CRM, process gift amendments, and support the administration of income streams across the organisation.

To be an excellent Data Assistant, you will need:

• Experience with data processing and CRM (eg, Raiser’s Edge)
