The Queen’s Reading Room is the charity founded by Her Majesty Queen Camilla in 2023. We believe that books make us happier, healthier and better connected, having a strong positive impact on our mental health, brain health and social connectedness. We’re on a mission to get more people reading more, for all the transformative benefits of books.
Our work is in three areas: neuroscientific study to understand the lifelong benefits of regular reading; the production of accessible content and events; and grassroots work to help shelters and refuges access books and shared reading groups, in partnership with organisations like St Mungo’s, The Elm Foundation and Reading for Wellbeing.
Our audience is predominantly digital, reaching 12 million people annually in 183 countries. We’re concerned that the UK is currently facing a reading crisis, with children’s reading rates the lowest on record and 1 in 2 adults not having read nor listened to a single book last year. We’re working hard to change that.
About the Role
The Queen’s Reading Room is funded entirely by grants, donations, sponsorship and income from events. We’re looking for a vibrant and well-connected individual to join the small but agile team, to lead this function within the charity and design and set up a fundraising committee. You will build on a strong base of income generation and work to sustain and expand it.
You will be responsible for building the fundraising strategy with the charity’s CEO and Board of Trustees; for identifying appropriate opportunities to generate funding in the UK and internationally; and for the targets agreed by the CEO and board. You will be comfortable with, and have experience in, the world of high profile and high net-worth individuals, legacy fundraising, fundraising and friendraising events. You will know how to build relationships with individual donor prospects along with charitable trusts, foundations and other institutional funders. You will attend networking events and meetings with potential donors.
Your role will include devising and creating fundraising events; securing sponsorship for events and festivals; contributing to the writing and submitting of funding applications to charitable trusts and foundations; and advising and providing suitable copy for fundraising marketing and digital materials. You will work with the team to create case studies and grant reports, sharing and telling great stories to supporters to ensure that they understand the difference that their donations make and with a view to securing repeat support.
You’ll create new relationships by preparing and delivering pitches, talks and presentations and prepare reports and give presentations on fundraising progress to the CEO and the Board of Trustees.
You will join as a key member of the organisation, alongside the CEO, Director of Operations, Director of MarComms, Head of Talent, Head of Production and Team Researcher.
About You
Our ideal candidate will have a proven track record of significant and sustained income generation. You’ll have a track record of managing and developing relationships with individual donors and be committed to building good internal and external relationships. You will have experience of performing due diligence and have a careful and considered approach to fundraising. Your knowledge of the fundraising market will be excellent. You will understand the complexity of the charity landscape and the sensitivities of the role. You will understand the need for confidentiality to be paramount.
Strong writing and presentation skills are essential.
There will be a lot going on at once, so we’ll be looking for someone who is flexible with changing priorities and who has excellent administrative, IT, organisational and planning skills. You’ll be able to prioritise your workload, manage administration and be able to work independently. You will be an excellent team player but be able to take responsibility for your own work stream.

The role
Due to the continued expansion and sustainability of our programmes, we are seeking a new team member to support our next period of growth in the new 2025-2026 academic year.
You will be a consumate account manager to support our skills and employability programmes designed in partnership with industry. You will work collaboratively with our corporate and industry partners to support teachers and students in schools and further education institutions access a range of TTF educational programmes.

*Hybrid working

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Finance Assistant will assist all aspects of the finance function. This role will include purchase ledger, processing expenses, processing credit card transactions, managing purchase orders, cash book entries and general administration duties. In addition to this, you will support the Finance Team, maintaining an efficient and accurate finance function within The Children’s Trust.

Job Purpose
The People Business Partner will provide operational and strategic HR support to directors and senior managers, working closely with the Interim Head of People. This will involve working collaboratively with senior managers to provide advice and insight, supporting managers to develop and maintain high performing teams. The People Business Partner will provide support at all stages of the employee lifecycle, often navigating sensitive and complex issues with professionalism and sensitivity.

Key Responsibilities
Business Partnering
- Act as a trusted advisor, supporting managers in decision making, performance management, employee engagement, and team development.
- Provide data and insight on people issues and recommend appropriate interventions.
· Provide advice to managers on HR policies and procedures. Guide and coach managers through HR processes such as performance improvement plans, absence management, and probation reviews etc.
· Support the Interim Head of People to create and develop HR workstreams, templates, and guidance to ensure the HR processes are consistent and compliant.
Employee Relations and Casework
- Work alongside the Interim Head of People by advising managers to manage complex employee matters through to conclusion in a proactive, efficient and professional manner.
- Support with investigations and provide recommendations and solutions in line with the charity’s values, policies and legislation.
- Support on conflict resolution, mediation, and fostering positive workplace relationships.
Recruitment and Onboarding
· Work with hiring managers and the senior leadership teams to ensure effective, inclusive and values-based recruitment.
· Support the Recruitment and Training Specialist to create and develop the charity’s recruitment process, including the development of templates and forms.
· Support managers to strategically plan their resource and capability requirements and support the Head of People to review these holistically across the charity.

Data and Compliance
· Support the Interim Head of People to ensure that the charity remains compliant with employment law, safeguarding, and CQC Quality Standards. Ensure that the Bamboo HR system is updated to demonstrate compliance.
· Support the Interim Head of People to review the configuration of the Bamboo HR system and associated reporting, ensuring that it meets the needs of the charity. Liaise with software providers to make changes as needed.
· Provide organisational data and insight for strategic decision-making and onward reporting to the Board of Trustees. Identify and investigate trends, propose solutions.
Person Specification

· CIPD Level 5 qualified (working toward Level 7).

About the role
This is an exciting new role in Crisis to lead on the practical development of Brent Council’s neighbourhood working approach in Harlesden and feed into Crisis’s new strategy, building on our experience of place-based work in Brent, developing new approaches to preventing homelessness and income insecurity and leading on local system.
The postholder will be line managed by Crisis Brent Skylight Director and is supported by Brent Council’s Head of Place Leadership.
You will:
- Implement a new, place-based vision for neighbourhood working which shifts away from traditional, transactional approaches towards more sustained, relational working with residents at risk of homelessness or living with income insecurity.
- Coordinate and support a co-located and co-working integrated neighbourhood team, consisting of statutory, health and voluntary sector partners, as well as community groups and residents to meet locally agreed strategic objectives, by providing a whole system, joined up experience for individuals, which is preventative, proactive, person-centred and relational.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with a range of stakeholders fostering a learning culture which is adaptable, collaborative and flexible.
- Develop local systems to support Brent Council’s radical place making approach by setting up new services and cross service teams, including contribution to the development of an operating and outcomes measurement approach.
- Utilise learning from the RPL lead approach, the integrated neighbourhood team and casework delivered on upstream prevention to feed into Crisis strategy and place-based approaches.

About you
- You can demonstrate experience of developing and/or leading on system change, through partnership and collaboration and an ability to bring together individuals and organisations with potentially competing priorities and agendas to enable them to coalesce and achieve positive progress around shared objectives.
- The successful candidate can create, tailor and implement effective procedures and new ways of working that lead to achieving outcomes and objectives, by initiating and leading change.
- You have the ability to set up, manage and support a multi-agency and multi-disciplinary partnership by creating and supporting a learning culture that explores, tests, fails and adopts sensitively and collaboratively, maintaining strong and positive working relationships.
- You can demonstrate excellent self-management and organisational skills, with experience of project management, monitoring progress and achieving outcomes and/or deadlines during complex and inter-related operations.
- Experience or understanding of housing/ homelessness, adult social care, health, criminal justice, or other relevant sectors, with an ability to work across boundaries is essential and you will have an understanding of involving vulnerable and excluded people in improving systems.
- You have excellent communication skills and influencing skills to understand and harness the value of different competencies, progressional backgrounds, skills and experiences within the integrated neighbourhood team and other audiences.
- The successful candidate has experience of using data and insight to drive decision making, ability to interpret and analyse complex issues, clearly communicating key concepts.

As our new Compliance Housing Officer, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality housing services and ensuring property compliance across our sites. - Managing onboarding and tenancy processes, including home visits, occupancy checks, and emergency protocols.
- Coordinating repairs and compliance checks, ensuring timely completion

- Conducting inspections and audits, maintaining regulatory registers, and supporting contractor management.

Qualifications, knowledge, and experience

- Proficiency in digital tools (e.g. Microsoft Office 365, property management systems).

This is an exciting new role in Crisis to deliver upstream prevention in partnership with Brent Council in Harlesden by supporting a newly set up Neighbourhood Team and contribute towards its key aims of preventing homelessness and income insecurity as part of Crisis and Brent Council’s place-based approach.

- Be a first point of contact for people in Harlesden who are at risk of homelessness, who are also likely living with debt / income insecurity and who may not have engaged with services or who fall outside homeless services’ criteria or statutory level support and who could benefit from holistic earlier support.
- Through high quality, person-centred IAG, coaching, advocacy, casework and a range of relational methods you will enable local people in Harlesden to resolve issues themselves, access services or be linked to the integrated neighbourhood team to help to address to address barriers and seek solutions.
- Reach out to people in the community, listen carefully to their story as you work with them to agree options and possibilities, and identify a range of solutions to support their goals, improving income security and preventing possible future homelessness.
- As lead worker create person centred support for an individual, to build collaborative, consistent and Psychologically Informed relationships with individuals and stakeholders from a range of services within and outside the integrated neighbourhood team.
About you
- You have worked within a relevant sector that supports people e.g., homelessness, mental health, drug and alcohol treatment, social care, education and skills, youth work, community development
- You can demonstrate awareness of barriers to engagement and participation experienced by people facing homelessness or a future risk of homelessness and other forms of social exclusion with an understanding of how they might be overcome.
- You have experience of assessing presenting needs, and an understanding of strengths-based assessments and action planning. Empathy and understanding of the barriers to accessing services and support faced by homeless people including mental health issues, and awareness of ways to over-coming them, including planning and reviewing actions and goals, meeting client needs and priorities.
- You work collaboratively with the ability to build and manage successful relationships with external agencies and relevant service providers and successfully advocate on behalf of clients and strong interpersonal skills.
- You have experience of delivering high quality information, advice and guidance or coaching and managing a caseload within a relevant sector, holding a Level 3 Information, Advice and Guidance or coaching qualification or be willing to work towards one.
- You are able to effectively manage own workload, including a varied caseload, with excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage conflicting priorities, exercise judgment under pressure and balance competing demands and willingness to reflect upon and develop own practice.
- You are a strong team player and ability to work on own initiative and seek support and advice where appropriate
- You can demonstrate knowledge of safeguarding and commitment to act in compliance with safeguarding policy and procedures

About the role
Reporting into the Health, Safety, Security & Safeguarding Lead, the Health, Safety & Security Manager is a key role for the operational management of the safety and security function and the provision of related technical expertise to our colleagues at all levels and areas of the organisation.
