Role Outline

Leading the team to deliver ambitious, creative and impactful campaigns, communications and brand awareness. Embed a marketing communications approach to maximise our reach and enhance the value of Refuge’s brand. Widening and deepening our engagement with the public, private sector, media and key stakeholders, helping us create real change for women and their children against our strategic and business priorities. Advise and lead for Refuge in creating strategy and tactics in marketing as well as compelling communications (including PR & media).

Key Accountabilities

• Leading and giving strategic direction to the communications team and taking responsibility for all marketing activities within the charity developing an ambitious strategy to promote the priorities of Refuge to the UK public working with colleagues in the Directorate to map audiences, set a clear direction and steer our work accordingly.
• Developing and implementing a marketing and communications strategy and plans that cover the full mix of communications and marketing tools, including media and public relations, brand marketing, campaigns and production of materials.
• Leading and owning the comms, brand, talent and campaigns business planning processes and budget setting; including monitoring, key performance indicators, evaluation and reporting.
• Leading the press team with reactive and proactive media; supporting them to identify and respond to stories as they break, prepare responses and briefings accurately and efficiently.
• Oversee message and editorial content for our external communications and ensure the organisation produces focused and engaging content across all our channels, both online and offline.
• Leading the campaigning strategy for Refuge work, mapping key priorities and providing leadership for our campaign function, alongside relevant SMT members, delivering attractive, attention grabbing, public facing campaigns that drive mass public support and help deliver the change in line with our strategic priorities:
o Working closely with the Head of Digital to amplify our messaging and campaigns to mass mobilise our supporters across digital channels?
o Working closely with fundraising to support and amplify key projects, creating synergistic, integrated campaigns as appropriate?
o Working closely with Policy to drive forward our political campaign work
