Location: Initial Field Officer training will be in Cambodia or Sri Lanka. First posting will be assigned across any of our global programmes.

This application opportunity should ONLY be taken up by individuals able to attend a selection day in south-west Scotland week commencing 14th October, and able to start training in mid January 2025.

HALO offers a full training package for the role of Field Officer, and you do not require previous knowledge of landmine clearance or ordnance disposal.

HALO’s Field Officers work across our programmes in various roles and with early responsibilities. You will need the aptitude to be able to function in dynamic and challenging environments and you should have demonstrable management and leadership skills.

HALO’s training will prepare you for deployment to one of our programmes where you could be leading between 250 and 1,000 local employees. On the Field Officer course you will receive technical training in mine clearance, basic explosive ordnance disposal and minefield survey. You will cover HALO’s finance, logistics, security and quality management systems. Once deployed to a programme, in addition to operational field work you will be involved in equipment auditing and maintenance, overseeing repair of vehicles, and writing reports and proposals.

Working for HALO is rewarding, but it is also physically and mentally demanding. Living and operating in remote locations in basic conditions can be wearing. You will be away from home for months on end. HALO Field Officers must be flexible and be willing to be posted to any of HALO's programmes.

About you

We are looking for outgoing, confident and skilled communicators who are well versed in public speaking, building relationships and influencing people. You will feel confident to speak to anyone and will proactively seek out opportunities to build partnerships and promote the projects. You will be a self-motivated, committed person with experience of working in the homelessness, housing or voluntary and community sectors.

About the role

We are seeking to hire 4 driven and proactive Citadel co-ordinators across South East London (Southwark, Lambeth, Greenwich, Lewisham, Bexley and Bromley) – to recruit, train, support and supervise committed volunteers who will directly support people experiencing homelessness locally.

About Citadel

Citadel is a volunteer-led project preventing homelessness by helping people find or sustain their tenancies and establish a home. Volunteers, once recruited, trained and DBS checked are matched with those referred for support. Co-ordinators and volunteers work closely with those referred to establish what matters to them and how best they can support them.

About the role:

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join our highly successful, passionate, and driven Family Support Hub Team.

As a Family Support Hub Officer, you will work within our Family Support Hub, liaising with identified partners to provide enhanced support to families caring for a child with a life limited illness. In addition, you will support those families contacting Together for Short Lives through the Helpline, website and from partner referrals. The purpose of this role is to help Together for Short Lives reach and support more families - responding appropriately to their needs by listening, signposting or referring onto internal and external support eg grants, peer support, events and engagement opportunities.

The Family Support Hub Officer will help us to deliver our programme of work for children’s health and social care services to improve and expand the range of support that they can offer to families.

Please note this role is home based but it will be necessary to occasionally travel to Together for Short Lives' Bristol Office and to other locations across the UK.

About you:

You will be passionate about providing support to seriously ill children and their families and be inspired by the potential to make an impact and to deliver tangible change.

You will have helpline, support work or lived experience which evidences your ability to work empathetically with parents caring for a child with a life-limiting condition, have excellent communication skills, in particular an excellent telephone manner and be a skilled active listener.

Please note this role is home based but it will be necessary to travel to Together for Short Lives’ Bristol Office and sometimes to our three project sites across the UK - Manchester, Birmingham, Bedford/ Luton/Milton Keynes.

Your role

As Shop Manager at Scope's Huntingdon shop, you’ll have autonomy to run your shop using your creativity and flair to flourish in our retail environment. Our retail roles are full of variety, and every day is different! One day you might be  generating and processing stock and designing an eye-catching window display. The next day you might be recruiting and training our wonderful volunteers. Every day there will be a different challenge that you’ll find extremely rewarding. You will have relevant experience in retail but a great attitude and willingness to learn is just as important.

 

About you

As Shop Manager you’ll be passionate about retail and have a love of fashion with experience of running a shop, or you’ll be looking for a management role as the next step in your career. To be successful, you’ll need a commercial, can-do attitude and always put the customer’s needs first. You’ll be a dedicated team player with a strong work ethic, a great attention to detail, solid IT skills and a creative eye for displays. About working in our shops

Our shops are the face of our retail brand, run by a dedicated, creative and passionate bunch of superstars. We focus on sustainable fashion and engaging with local communities. We lead our volunteers to deliver a great colleague and customer experience. And we raise much needed funds to deliver Everyday Equality for disabled people and their families.

Shop hours

It’s important for you to know that Scope Charity Shops are open every day. So some weekend and Bank Holiday cover is needed. Our full time hours are 35 hours a week, working five days out of seven. Weekly hours for part-time vacancies are on a seven-day rota.
