Job Title: Communications Specialist

Location: Rhodes House in central Oxford, Hybrid Working 2 days per week

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Full-time

Salary: £39,000 - £42,000 per annum

Reports to: Head of Communications

 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Communications Specialist to join the Atlantic Institute based at the Rhodes Trust. The Communications Specialist will act as the hub of the Communications team, ensuring that activity is strategically prioritised and that effective systems are in place to enable delivery. They will hold knowledge of all activity in the Communications portfolio, ensure that communications plans are developed and delivered, play a key role in content production and gather feedback.  Working with colleagues across the Institute, they will facilitate effective collaborations to ensure the Atlantic Fellows community’s contribution to equity impact grows.  

Role responsibilities;

Key Responsibilities

Coordinator for Communications Team

●      Organise and maintain information sources to support comms content and roll-out planning and delivery, including Asana calendars and spreadsheets.

●      Organise, facilitate and record action points for team meetings, ensuing follow-through of agreed activity and tacking of carried-over agenda points

●      Manage the team’s shared inbox, triaging and prioritising requests for support, working closely with all members of the Communications Team to ensure awareness of workloads and facilitating timely completion of priority projects

Content production and promotion

●      Support the production and posting of content, and monitoring platforms for engagement, comments and messages. Contribute to content planning, and create ad-hoc posts for the Institute.

●      Community newsletters, and other promotional email pieces: collation and curation of content, creating draft pieces for sign-off, ensuring mailing lists are up to date, and distributing to an agreed calendar.

Other

●      Support colleagues to facilitate meetings and events with existing and prospective partners, drafting briefings, and preparing slide decks where Institute staff are speakers.

●      Manage databases of contacts and suppliers, logging interactions on Salesforce.

●      Monitor stock levels of branded materials and reorder or retrieve from storage as required to support colleagues across the Institute. Source new products when needed.

Person Specification

Essential

●      Experience in a communications or marketing role, having worked on content development and promotion of some sort, in either a professional or volunteer capacity

●      Experience of working collaboratively across teams, with the ability to build positive working relationships with a range of stakeholders.

●      A strong attention to detail, along with being proactive, reliable, and accurate.

Desirable

●      Basic video editing skills are desirable but not essential.

●      Knowledge of data privacy regulations.
