Job description

Are you passionate about empowering women, driving change, and helping others build a better future? Join us as a WISE Project Support Officer and play a vital role in supporting women with convictions to start their entrepreneurial journeys and achieve sustainable self-employment.

This part-time role (16 hours per week) is based on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. You must live close enough to HMP Send to commute easily, as regular on-site presence is required alongside some remote work.

What You'll Do

  • Empower Women: Deliver one-to-one and group sessions to support participants in identifying viable business ideas, creating business plans, and enhancing entrepreneurial skills.

  • Facilitate Growth: Lead monthly workshops and remote sessions, using tailored resources to inspire and guide participants.

  • Provide Transition Support: Help women overcome post-release challenges by connecting them with resources, networks, and financial tools.

  • Collaborate and Advocate: Work with prison staff, education providers, and stakeholders to raise awareness of self-employment opportunities and foster a supportive ecosystem.

  • Track Progress: Monitor participant outcomes and contribute to programme evaluations, ensuring continuous improvement.

 What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking someone who embodies these qualities:

  • Empathetic and Empowering: Committed to supporting women and helping them achieve positive outcomes.

  • Resilient and Adaptable: Confident, quick-thinking, and able to handle challenges with professionalism.

  • Organised and Resourceful: Skilled in managing multiple responsibilities and developing creative solutions.

  • Excellent Communicator: Strong written and verbal communication skills to engage diverse audiences.

  • Understanding of the Criminal Justice System: Experience working with women in prison or a strong commitment to addressing their challenges is desirable.

Experience in business start-up or entrepreneurship support is a bonus, but not essential.

What We Offer

  • Part-Time Flexibility: 16 hours per week on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday

  • Meaningful Impact: Be part of a project that transforms lives and creates opportunities for women.

  • Supportive Environment: Work with a team that values trust, compassion, and innovation.

  • Tools for Success: All necessary equipment provided, with opportunities for remote work.

Additional Information

  • Location: Primarily remote, with regular travel to HMP Send. Applicants must live close enough for easy commuting.

  • Security Clearance: Applicants must undergo security checks to work within a prison environment.

  • Inclusivity: We actively encourage applications from women with lived experience of the criminal justice system.

  • Interviews: Conducted on a rolling basis – apply early to avoid disappointment!
